ALS ... Autoimmune?   Message List
Reply Message #28 of 37 |

Anyone have gout? ...  in addition to the commonly held belief that gout is caused from eating too much meat and rich foods ... or from gluttony ... could there be another cause?

Is there another reason besides diet & exercise (or the lack of proper diet & exercise) for the epidemic of obesity and diabetes in our country in recent years? Yes. And that's my point

I'm not saying it is the ONLY cause. I am saying that the proliferation of n-butyl ethers ... in particular the ethylene glycol monobutyl ethers since the 1930s is causing the epidemic.  I would consider extreme exposure to 2-butoxyethanol or diethylene glycol monobutyl ether ... capable of causing a lot of autoimmune issues, in particular, ALS such as Lou Gehrig had:
Is Lou Gehrig's or ALS Autoimmune?  Lou Gehrig - Famous Baseball player
In autoimmune hemolytic anemia, the body produces autoantibodies to red blood cell membrane proteins. (size? shape RBCs?)

In diabetes mellitus, autoantibodies are formed against insulin receptors.

Graves 's disease is associated with autoantibodies to thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) receptors.

Pernicious anemia can be caused when autoantibodies are formed against intrinsic factor which is needed for vitamin B12 absorption.

Researchers have proposed that ALS may have an autoimmune basis

The following are the bases for their hypotheses:

Analyses of ALS patient sera have identified circulating antibodies secreted by denervated muscle. These antibodies inhibit the stimulation of the sprouting of axons, the long arms of neurons which conduct nervous impulses to other neurons throughout the body (Onion 1998).

Researchers have found an immunoglobulin that affects the conductance of neuronal voltage-activated calcium channels which may induce an excessive release of glutamate from nerve endings (Onion 1998).

Several studies of ALS patients found the presence of antibodies that interact with motor neurons (Pestronk et al. 1988a; Pestronk et al. 1988b; Pestronk et al. 1989; Niebroj-Dobosz et al. 1999).
Immune complexes have been found in spinal cords of patients with ALS.

It has been proposed that T cells, activated microglia, and immunoglobulin G (IgG) within the spinal cord lesions may be the primary event that leads to tissue destruction in ALS.

Skeptical?

Could there be a glyconutrient trial for ALS?

 Nasopharyngeal cancer?  NPC?

Margaret,

Any of those would be possible or even a combination of those. The main factors are finding patients that have the specific disease, can afford the treatment and who can come to the clinics to be part of the study. I know we are in the works on some good trials but it always comes down to these circumstances.

Let me know what you think.

Could there be a trial for ALS?

IF SOME SOURCE PROVIDED THE FUNDS, A NEEDED PROJECT.

I think that this would be the prima-dona health ailment for someone with a LOT of exposure to 2-butoxyethanol ... and this group would benefit also from glyconutrients - to help the immune system work properly & stop attacking them.

There is also a lady whose husband was a fuel handler in the military ... she has come down with nasopahryngeal cancer NPC  ... one of the ailments for the Vietnam vets ...

THERE IS NO TRIAL FOR THIS RARE FORM OF CANCER.  IN ADDITION TO THE ORAL PRODUCTS AND USE ADVANCED AMBROTOSE MIXED 1:1 WITH GRANULAR SOY LECITHIN ALSO SNORT EMPRIZONE UP THE NOSE SEVERAL TIMES A DAY AND ESPECIALLY AT BEDTIME TO GET IT ON THE TUMOR AND SURROUNDING MUCOSA.
