Hi everyone. Earlier today someone won a lot of archive centaurs on ebay, with many duplicates. I lost track of time and so was not able to bid. If that person happens to be on this list I would love to buy or trade for 1 or 2 of those centaurs. I have about 1300 figures to trade in my spares pile and I am really trying to get my archive line complete so that I can get all of them up on my website www.dndlead.com

Thanks,

Ernst

I have several extra Archive Runequest Minis. I'll see what I've got. I'd prefer
to trade for other ones I don't have, like the Pavis Survivors on Zebras or the
Tusk riders.

Hi Rick, I would be happy to do some archive trading. You can see what I have on my website at www.dndlead.com just go to the for sale trade page – I have about 50 spare archives right now, and about 1000 other figs. So let me know what you have to trade.

Thanks,

ERnst

Hey Gang,

I'm currently listing a bunch of Archive and R-Kiiv miniatures on ebay, many still in the original packages!  I've got about 50 or so packs, and many loose minis, including some of the early D&D minis, Star Rovers, the huge Archive Space-ships, and the legendary Archive 'not-Star Wars' minis.

Please have a look, there is some cool stuff going up, and you won't often see them in packages anymore!

EBAY LINK

Or, you can search by seller: vongoosewink

Thanks

Hi, I was wondering if any in the group can help ID this figure:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Archive_Miniatures/photos/album/1150369752/pic/154\
0215434/view?picmode=&mode=tn&order=ordinal&start=1&count=20&dir=asc

It appears to be a stage magician; the base has 78 ARCHIVE MINIATURES on it.

The figure is quite large - at least 30mm.

Any ideas please?

Thanks!

I believe that's #736, "Mentat the Magnificent."

Friends,

I have a passion for old fantasy miniatures. I've collected them for over 30 years, and I'm still just as interested in them as I was when I was 14 years old. They are a longtime obsession of mine, and I consider myself to be somewhat of a historian in regards to the subject.

Many of you know me through dealings we've had over the years, or my occassional post here and on the other mini collectors Yahoo! Groups. I'm working on something that I think many of you will be interested in….

I am starting up an APA that will focus on old fantasy miniatures, and I would love for you to join me. An "APA" is an "Amateur Press Association", and they are groups of like-minded fans that produce an "APAzine" (magazine) composed of articles written by the APA members about their particular field of interest. If you've never heard of APAs before, please take a moment and Google it. There's an excellent article about APAs on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amateur_press_association) that explains what they are, how they work, and their history…

Basically, I'm getting a bunch of serious fans together to write articles about fantasy miniatures, and we will distribute the combined works to all of the members.

I also collect original comic and fantasy artwork, and joined the CFAAPA (Comic and Fantasy Art APA) about 7 years ago, and it's been an extremely rewarding and useful outlet for me to advance in the hobby. I've met dozens of new friends, shared stories with them, learned about artwork I'd not appreciated before, and made many connections that led to new acquisitions of terrific artwork. Joining the CFAAPA was the single best move I've ever made in my many years of collecting original art! If you have any interest at all in looking at my art collection, please take a look at the CAF gallery I have up at: http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryDetail.asp?GCat=1379.

Anyway, I want to have the same experience with my other collecting passion, vintage fantasy miniatures! This is a very young hobby, and there is a great deal of study and documentation to be done. We've all had similar experiences when we've found a previously unknown mini, and gone through the process of trying to ID the piece. It's very exciting when you find that rare figure that you've never even seen before! Many of the pieces I collect were never pictured in catalogs or ads, and finding conclusive evidence that my newly found figure is one of those "missing links" is collecting Nirvana…Id'ing figures and the "hunt" is not the only thing it's all about. It's also about the painting, the sculptors, the history, the games, the nostalgia, and all the other things we think about when we think about old fantasy minis. I'm a big fan of the Lost Minis Wiki, and I'm sure you are as well. It's creation was a blessing in our hobby, and it's indespensible as a resource for us all. The OSFMapa ("Old School Fantasy Miniatures Amateur Press Alliance") will be an excellent companion to the LMW as it will focus a lot more on the who's, when's, and why's of fantasy miniatures as we delve into the history of the hobby.

I want to share my experiences with you. I want to read about your collecting experiences, too. We need to take our hobby to the next level. We need a forum where we can celebrate this wonderful obsession and we need a place where fans can get serious info. I'm very committed to this endeavor, and I believe we will collect some of the most interesting and valuable information ever put together for miniatures collectors. Our APAzines will be absolutely indispensible for serious fans of the art.

I've created a private Yahoo! Group for prospective members of the OSFMapa where we will hammer out the details of exactly how all of this will move forward. If you have any interest in joining the OSFMapa, or just want to know more about it, please let me know via email (oldschoolfantasy@...), and I'll send you an invite from Yahoo! That will be the best place to discuss what we are doing since everyone will get all of the emails and be able to contribute their thoughts to all the decisions that need to be made...

I've been very busy with this project for some time all by myself, and now I want to start to get others involved. I sent out an invitation to a few of you last week, and so far there  are 5 prospective members signed up on the Yahoo! Group site. We are starting to work out the details of what will be a terrific resource for fantasy miniatures collectors.

Please consider joining us in this project.

Thanks for your time,
Scott Burnley

    Hello Archive Miniatures Group!

I've recently been collecting Archive miniatures and just joined you good folks
    in the group here.

I have a question for you: I did not bid on, but was recently looking at this
    ebay listing:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230681912548&ssPageName=ADME:\
B:WNA:US:1123 for an Archive Deimogriff. Unless I'm mistaken this figure does
not appear on the Lost Minis Wiki, the Stuff of Legends site, the complete
listing of miniatures in the files section of this group, or on dndlead.com. I
do however see it listed in the Arduin section of the Archive catalog that can
be viewed from this page: http://www.megaminis.com/0-MINI-MAG.htm So my
question is: does anyone know why the Arduin catalog listings are so different
from what is seen on any of the sites or listings mentioned above? Have they
been overlooked or am I missing something here?

    Thanks for any info! -Matt

If anyone is interested I just started a miniatures painting blog that for the
time being will be based on the Archive (and Asgard) miniatures I've been
    collecting. http://menaceminis.blogspot.com/

Also if anyone has an answer to my last message to the group, I'm still curious.

Thanks for posting the blog site! I learned a new tip in reading the post. I
now know that Simple Green makes a good paint stripper :-) Thanks for the tip!

Citris degreaser is WAY better than simple green. And it is no more toxic. I started using it about 5 months ago and wish I had known about it years ago. You can get a gallon at home depot for 11.00, just 1.oo more than a gallon of simple green.

Thanks folks. I appreciate you guys taking a look. I just finished painting
the Goblin King and posted him up.

I haven't tried citris degreaser either, I'll have to look into it. I've always
used Simple Green because it's fairly cheap and not particularly toxic. Sounds
like it could be even better.
