Once upon a time, there was a really wonderful, talented lady named Carol Bedford. She sang, wrote her own music and songs, reached out to other people, and made a practice of giving back on a regular basis¦a truly great friend. Her presence here at Lakeside in sunny Mexico has proven to me that angels do exist.

Carol performs all sorts of music, but everyone's favorites, and by far the most popular, are the songs she has composed herself. One of the songs that most regulars know by heart and sing along, is called Bad Girls.Most, I'm sure, have heard the phrase, "Good girls go to Heaven, bad girls go EVERYWHERE!" Carol incorporates this into her song, but ends with, "Bad girls go to MEXICO!!!"

While attending one of Carol's performances, she announced Bad Girls, saying that the song was dedicated to all the wonderful women of Lakeside, who were definitely its greatest asset. Then, with a wicked grin, she pointed to me and said, "And there's the president of the Bad Girls Club!" That got a huge laugh¦but it started me thinking. (A dangerous thing as it turns out!)

Since coming to Lakeside, I have met some really fantastic women, with strength, knowledge and experience that I can only aspire to. Even more amazing was the support and friendship that flowed so freely. They have eased the pain of missing the wonderful friends and family that I had to leave behind when I moved here. Carol's joke kept popping into my mind. I finally decided that if she had indeed appointed me as president, then, by gum, I was going to have a meeting!

I emailed Julie Webb, Carol, Barbara Habacht, and a few others, informing them that the Lakeside Bad Girls Association was having a lunch meeting at Pedro's. I told them that there were no rules for membership except a firm belief in the 3 F's. See our Charter Member Photo!!
