I have some ancestry in the neighbourhood, but as far as I know none from
Nordby in Hogdal.

When Cecilia Maria was born, she´s listed in the index as:

1800-11-29
Sisel Maria

Norby

Nils
Persson

Ingri
Matthisdotter




I suppose you´ve already found this. Sisel or Sissel are Scandinavian forms
of Cecilia, nowadays mostly used in Norway.

The name of the farm is presently spelt "Nordby". It has an interesting
history. In the old days there was an inn, where you could change horses, get a
meal and a drink and a bed for the night. It´s by the main road, now called E6.
It´s just south of the border.

Nowadays there´s a supermarket, where happy Norwegians are taking advantage of
the lower prices inside the European Union, although they had a referendum and
most of them voted against joining.

Stig Carlsson at http://www.skee.nu/ has an Ingeborg Eriksdotter born in
1726-11-26 in Nordby, Hogdal by Erik Vettlesson and Ragnil Rearsdotter. Maybe
that´s a clue. Vettle is a rare name, and the names were often inherited in the
family.
