re the area around Bokenäs...There is a large island to the south of
Bokenäs called Orust...It is on Orust that the famous Norwegian king
Olav Tyrggvasson reputedly had his large viking longship Ormen Långe
built...Yes, I said Norwegian king because Bohuslän was a part of Norway
up until 1658 when Denmark was forced in defeat to cede Bohuslän, Skåne,
Blekinge, and Halland to Sweden in the Treaty of Roskilde...In the
middle ages after the breakup of the Kalmar Union, all of Norway was in
fact little more than a colonial province of Denmark for over 400 years
until all of it was given to Sweden after the Napoleanic war, with
Sweden siding with victors (England and Russia) and Denmark with the
losers...Norway became independent from Sweden in 1904...In viking times
Bohuslän was called Viken...Rickard A-son
