Good evening group,

While out tiquing this afternoon I came accross a pair of Etched 6oz cruets as
shown on pp 65 top right in the Garrison crystal line book however the one was
VINEGAR while the other was DRESSING?? I do not notice this varience in the book
question is is it uncommon or rare? both were priced individually at 60.00 less
20% any thoughts or opinions

Thanks for your time,
robert

Hi Robert~
This Cruet was decorated in many different ways, Etched,Hand Painted, Ruby Stained and many
more.
Some of the decorations were done by Imperial and others were done after it
left Imperial.

Robert,  I have a question for you.  Did the lettering on the dressing bottle match the lettering on the vinigar bottle.   Do you have a picture?  Did you buy them?

Thanks Chris

Thanks Chris,

yes the lettering on both the vinegar and dressing match perfectly, the three bead stoppers as well as the bases are flawless and pristine and I did purchase them at 75.00ea which was probably too high in todays market but they are cool!!
I will post some photos

Hi everyone. I am a new owner of some Candlewick pieces, and am reading all I
can to learn about it. My mother, who used to be an avid collector of Carnival
glass, downsized to an apartment and we are cleaning the house out. I knew
about the depression and milk glass pieces that she had also collected in much
smaller fashion, but opened a cupboard and found these stunning pieces that I
had never seen before. She told me it's Candlewick. Who knew?! :-) I just
loved them, so clean and elegant! So, now they are mine. I have pretty much
identified all but one piece. I'd like to attach a picture (if I can figure out
how to add it to the photo album) and see if anyone out there has ever seen one
like it. It's obviously some type of cracker and dip-type server, or crudite
platter, but other than that, I haven't a clue.

Thanks!
Louise

Hi  Louise,
Hello and Welcome to the Group~
Your Relish Set is not Imperial Candlewick, its been an unknown for many years.
I have just recently  found out who made it.

Here is a Quote from a well known Book Author, He is in another Glass Group I am in~

"It's L. E. Smith. It didn't make it into my first book, but will be

shown in the second volume. I haven't been able to determine the

pattern number, but found an example in the factory archives.

I can date this piece, by the way. Smith submitted a drawing of it to the National Association of Pressed and Blown Glass Manufacturers in 1950.

I am looking for a matching pair of 79B flat candleholders. I have never found
any here in Oklahoma. I wondered if anybody out there had an extra set they
would be willing to part with for a reasonable amount of money. I've heard some
people are also downsizing their collections and might have some to sell. I
don't see the flat ones very often and it's something I've been wanting to add
to my collection. Also, does anyone know if the hurricane shades for the 79R
work on the 79B?

If anyone could help out or direct me to someone that might have some, I would
appreciate hearing from you. Again, I need "reasonably" priced.

I noticed there is an older style and a new style. Either one would be fine
with me as long as they were a matched pair.

Thanks, Rex

Hi to everyone.

Yes, I'm new to Candlewick.... Well, I've eaten off of Candlewick plates every
Thanksgiving and Christmas since I was about 5 or 6 years old when my Mother
obtained her first CW pieces.

Today, I'm sure Mom is looking down and watching me as I try to learn about
these beautiful pieces she loved so much. While I currently have about 275
pieces of CW, I still feel like a 'fish out of water' when trying to add to this
collection. There is so much to learn and there are so many fakes!!!

I have a copy of Garrison's "CANDLEWICK: The Crystal Line" and it has helped me
learn that I have purchased some fakes including an Indiana Glass Relish Tray
and some 5 inch bowls with smooth bottoms that I think were made in
Germany......

Anyway, I've landed here in your group and have a sincere desire to learn so I
don't get duped again.....hopefully...

I just finished reading all the posts from January 2008 to current and am in awe
at the knowledge displayed by the members of this group.

Hopefully you will allow me to join in as I want to learn so I can add to and
finish a couple of CW series that my Mother started. (Currently, I'm searching
for 400/190 Goblets & Champagne/Sherberts.)

I look forward to enjoyable times with this Candlewick Group!!

I'm hoping it is OK to ask these type of questions on this group.

I'm curious about a couple of items that are currently listed on e-bay. They
'appear' to be the following items:

400/151 10" Tray
400/151 5" Base (aka 400/133 Ash Tray with spec. indention on bottom.)

These would be two of the three parts of the 400/1503 Lazy Susan.

But, these items are listed as:

A large Serving Dish: Item number: 160329511427

A small dish/bowl: Item number: 160329512282

Both of these items are listed by the same Seller. This is why I'm wondering if
they are components of the Lazy Susan. Unfortunately, there is no 400/151 Ball
Bearing ring listed....

Again, if it is 'bad form' to ask these type of question, I appologize to all
and promise I'll NEVER do it again!

But, if it is OK to ask these questions, does anyone have any comments? I'm
"hemming & hawing" about bidding and have not done so even though there is only
just over a day left on both auctions.

Thank you for any advise...

Hi,
Yes I believe that is the Lazy Susan, in the picture it does look like the "Ash Tray" has the indent
to hold the Ball Bearings~
I have never had this piece to compare it to the Ash Tray~
So I am just going by the picture, you could ask the Seller if it does indeed have the indent.
You can ask any questions here!!!

Fran,

Thank you for your input. As much as I'd love to have a Lazy Susan, I don't
think it would be very easy to obtain the little ball bearing ring that is
necessary for this item.....

Gosh, it is a shame that the 'crystal' pieces are available.....but not the
'metal' piece. I would think that it would be the 'other way around'.......

I'll have to think about this some more. There is still about 23 hours left to
the end of the auction.....

Hmmmmmm........... gosh......... (...fingers tapping on the table top.....)

Have read you messages and looked at the pieces.  They seem like the correct ones to me.  If you are interested, you can purchase just the ball bearing ring from Penny Drucker's site at MotherDruckers.  Hope this helps you and good luck.

Nevermind, I just found them.
BTW I have ritz blue wine goblets 3400. They are fairly small in height and are
in pristine condition. I have never seen ritz blue in 3400 goblets before.
Some day I will get around to posting a picture.

I have a candy dish size piece with a silver overlay which is missing along one
third of the glass. I do not know who can fix this or even if it is fixable at
all. You can still see where the overlay used to be on the outside of the
glass.
My problem is, I don't think anyone would buy it and I can't use it because it
is so obviously damaged.
SInce I don't know where to get it fixed,
should I just throw it out?

Well, I didn't bid on the two parts of the Lazy Susan listed on e-bay. But,
here is an update:

400/151 5" Base, Item number: 160329512282 - $32.01 + $10.67 Shipping

400/151 10" Tray, Item number: 160329511427 - $40.99 + $13.38 Shipping

These component parts were won by different people, so this Lazy Susan is now
'seperated'..... That is kind a sad...

from Penny Drucker's site at MotherDruckers. Hope this helps you and good luck.

Definitely spam. Especially bad form not to let people know who they
are when they're asking other people to help them build their site?
It'll be interesting to see how many other groups whom-so-ever manages
to pop into as a "new member".

The good news is that I'll know whose emails to bounce here at home...

Dear susan j,

This was not a Spam, it was actually a sort of announcement for Collectors. That
is why the subject of the messages asks that "Are you a collector?". So that if
this is not something of your interest, you can put it in your trash. I hope you
will not mind my justifications.

Kind Regards,

Azu

Hi everyone.

I've been collecting candlewick for over 6 years now and I enjoy it
tremendously. I've had great help from this group and such dear people as Jan
who have guided me along my path. In my searches I have unfortunately bought
some imitations. I also early last year was able to acquire a 100 piece
collection from a reseller who was quitting the business.

While I still don't have about 10 key pieces that I would love for my collection
I do have quite a few pieces that are duplicates or I'm pretty sure fakies.

I signed up for a flea market booth for mid June and I want to offload these
extra pieces, but I want to make sure I know which pieces are real and which are
not since I don't intend on cheating anyone. I have started inventorying the
collection and I just need help as I go because some things seem odd to me.

Could anyone please help me sort through some of items which I have questions
on?

For example, I have five 10" handled plates... two are clear, two are yellowish
and one looks blue. I don't really understand the color difference, they all
look exactly the same unless you put them together and see them in the light.

Please excuse my deep ignorance. I know I still have a lot to learn and maybe
shouldn't have bought so much with so little knowledge and I'm a little nervous
to be selling these things with my inferior knowledge. I do have a 2006 price
book, but there seem to be 3 different pattern numbers and prices for what seems
to me to be the same item. I don't fully get it yet.

Anyway. Thanks for reading this. I hope someone has the time and patience to
help me a little.

:-)
Macy
