Casey Anthony is a South Florida woman jailed for obstruction of justice, in the case of her daughter who has been missing since June 15, but only reported about 5 weeks later by Casey's mother, Cindy. Casey said that she left Caylee with her nanny and was never seen again. The case gets more intriguing by the day ... there's the decomposition smell in the grandparents' car, the one where Casey was driving and abandoned in a parking lot for three days ... there's the sniffer dogs who detected something in the grandparents' yard (where Casey was living) ... there was Cindy, who was very talkative in the media, explaining the smell was due to bad pizza ... there was the police who has said that everything Casey is telling them has been a lie ... etc ... Caylee's decomposed skull has since been found and Casey is awaiting trial, with the death penalty on the line.

The trial began on May 24, 2011. On July 5, 2011, Casey Anthony was found not guilty of first-degree murder, which carries the death penalty. She was found guilty of 4 lesser charges of lying to police. Due to time served and good behavior, Casey was released on July 17, 2011.
