Hey Charlie,
Happy New Yer to Louise and yourself. As of right now, I would want just one

The meeting will be held this Saturday at 6pm at the Donato's Pizza on Broadway St in Grove City, OH. This is the same Donato's we have used for the last few meetings, for those who have not been to a meeting, here is the address so you can get a map!!
3415 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123
Broadway St is Rt62, and the Donato's Pizza is about 1 mile south of I-270 and located on the west side of the street.

Hello Bill,
And Happy New Year.Â
The Willy's bodies are NOT for the new proposed less expensive Mod T-Jet class. We have almost decided to run a late model dirt modified body that Brad has come across.Â

Ok, is this for the C.A.R. class that we are going to talk about Saturday? And Charlie, how much are these bodies going to be? $4.00, $5.00, ETC......Kinda need to know so I plan my budget accordingly. And will you have these bodies at the series meeting???
Im working on the mod bodies at this time and should be on the phone with Tom today. After some thought, Im going to make an initial order of 30 and limit everyone's first purchase to 2 bodies which should easily cover our clubs needs to start with. After most of the first batch is gone Ill order a second if need be.
Ill let you know a price as soon as I can......but it aint gonna be bad!
I will take four of them in one each in Red, Yellow, White, and Blue. I want to build some evenly matched cars for when friends come over to have some I-roc style racers.
Thanks

KB'S LIGHTNING SLOT CARS
I have been playing with an entry class for a few weeks now and will actually have our 1st race next Saturday, the 9th. Many of us race for fun, friendship and thrill of it... others will spend any amount of money to buy a win.... cost of replacement parts in some cases are out of sight. Like you have all said when you get a new person interested we drive them away when they see a box full of parts upward of a few hundred dollars or more... and you know I'm being very conservative in this figure, just to be somewhat competitive.
We are starting 5 new people on the Sportsman Class (Hococ / Southern sportsman) using only slip on tires.
This week they will be introduced to a Stock JL class... the only thing they will be able to change is the rear axle, wheels and tires. they will use the stock front end with the stock tires which they will be able to sand down to .350. I will allow the axle change since the rear axle holes are very irractic and many are so big that the cars shake, rattle and roll. On a small track that may not be a problem but on a large track it is a big problem. As of right now they will use JL brushes and pick up shoes but that will undoubtably change in favor of more common Wizzard or JB etc... and pick up shoes. All will use the tuffones size tires front and rear.
As far as bodies go I will let them run what they want with 40's, 50's & 60's stock car bodies, with out glass (Saturday night at the races). Part of this hobby is having fun and body building is part of the fun and helps keep interest in the hobby.
The approx cost of the car breaks down as follows....
JL Chassis $6.50 10/$65 at Buds .063 rear axle 2.00 wheel & tires 3.00 body $5 to $12 10.00 Bud has bodies I think 5/$20 or resins.. Total cost $16.50 - 23.50 per car..
Other classes can be made using the same rules with wider or narrow tires.... body changes etc....
You don't have to spend a bunch of dollars to have a fun competitive car.
FYI one of the cars I built, 56 Mercury, chassis has stock JL pick ups and JL brushes, fat JL front tires (.350 lf and .355 right front) and axle, Dennis Rutherford tuff one rear wheels and tires and a .063 rear axle and right out of the box this car is faster then my Sportsman #99 Dow Corning Charger which has a 1st and a 2nd in the Southern Sportsman series with all the Hotrod parts allowed.... yes there is promise for the little JL/AW chassis.... Here is an article on the Famous Bridgehampton Circuit on Long Island.... many of the cars that were in these races are tjet bodies today..... anyway here is a few clips and that will get you to more if you choose.

John you are so right..... but recently the town of Bridgehampton has publicly regretted closing the race track. It seems that the little noise a few days a year and a few drops of spilled oil is far more inviromentaley friendly then all the fertilizers, weed killers and other pesticides that have started popping up in the wells and ground water around the golf course... Who ever would have thought that Long Island Politicians would stick up for a race track..... but to late....

A few years back I read an article in the New York Times about the current development of the Bridgehampton site, including homes and a golf club. The site has beautiful vistas and is located in the Hamptons making an upscale redevelopment almost inevitable.
The developer though preserved a number of elements from the race track and incorporated them into the landscape; sign boards, guard rails, remnants of trackside structures including flag stations and the like. There were a few photos and it looked kind of cool. The developer, a vintage car collector I believe, said something about honoring the history of the site . . . .

I also read there was talk of re-vitalizing the race
track, although it never happened for whatever reason. Boy would that have
been cool, and it would likely now be one of the premier road courses in the United
States.

John you are so right..... but recently the town of Bridgehampton has
publicly regretted closing the race track. It seems that the little noise
a few days a year and a few drops of spilled oil is far more inviromentaley
friendly then all the fertilizers, weed killers and other pesticides that
have started popping up in the wells and ground water around the golf
course... Who ever would have thought that Long Island
Politicians would stick up for a race track..... but to late....
Jesus ..... You're My
Spirit, You're My Guiding Light ....

[WesternPennsylvaniaSlotCarClub] Bridgehampton memories
A few years back I read an article in the New York Times
about the current development of the Bridgehampton site, including homes and a
golf club. The site has beautiful vistas and is located in the Hamptons
making an upscale redevelopment almost inevitable.
The developer though preserved a number of elements from
the race track and incorporated them into the landscape; sign boards, guard
rails, remnants of trackside structures including flag stations and the
like. There were a few photos and it looked kind of cool. The
developer, a vintage car collector I believe, said something about honoring the
history of the site . . . .

(1965 race which I attended) Walt Hansgen
& Pedro Rodriguez led a few laps early until the Chaparal took
over command for the rest of the race.... Awesome race.....
That's King Richard Petty and David Pearson, top qualifiers in the
July 12, 1964 NASCAR championship race.
Thanks to Robert Bohl for this awesome shot!
