Community Builders, Chicago (CBC) is a group of community activists engaged in facilitating the social and economic development of the Muslim community in Chicago through educational and networking opportunities. There are presently two locations where monthly networking forums are held. CBC Morton Grove meets on the first Friday of each month from 7pm-10pm, in the American Legion Civic Center, 6140 Dempster St, Morton Grove, IL 60053, CBC Oakbrook meets on the third Fri of each month 7pm-10pm at One Plaza Drive, #10, Oakbrook Terrace, IL. Both are dinner meetings. Food is with a fee, but the meetings are free and open to the public.
CBC believes that in order to promote Muslim interests in America there is a need to establish more than Mosques and Islamic Schools. CBC believes that such institutions could be in the area of health care, business, finance, social welfare, media, public policy, philanthropy, etc.
We realize that knowledge is power and education is a life long process. Hence education does not end with school or college but continues via various mediums both formal and informal through all stages of our lives. By sponsoring and organizing forums, workshops, emails and web pages we hope to serve the educational needs of our community.
CBC’s educational programs have included the following:
1.Career Mentoring Program, for high school and college students
2. Family First Workshops, to address issues of spousal relationships, parenting, marriage, divorce and domestic abuse.
3. Voter Education Workshops, addressing the political issues of the day at the time of national and statewide elections.
4. Money Matters Workshops, to promote essential financial literacy.
CBC also believes that human beings can only reach their fullest potential through networking with others. Empowering people through education and networking, remains our core mission.
