You could feed them from your lunchbox, let them drink from your heart, but you play for them and they refuse to dance. In the end those you trust betray you and disown you and you are left to face the excommunicating wrath of the forces of religion and politics. You are left alone, not even their God is there to console you. Just old lady Wisdom at the foot of your blessed cross. They think they've entombed you, defeated you, shut you up, but the joke is on them because you are stronger than that. You sit in your garden with an otherworldly glow at the sunrise of a new day.
