Dear Friends

You must watch this video. It is the Ethiopian Moment On The Simpson's. Truly a classic totally hilarious episode about Ethiopia in a little Ethiopia somewhere in the USA.  You have to watch to see what I mean. This is the funniest episode ever about our beautiful culture and traditional food! Every single moment makes you laugh out loud. This episode is so down-right funny that, I must admit, I once watched it few times.

Enjoy it. Laughter is good for your soul--and your body!  Bringing more humor and laughter into your life.

Thanks so much for your never-ending support. Don’t give up. Keep your focus on the bigger picture and reach out to others and listen! Care about those who are suffering. Think about our family of Ethiopians and humanity throughout the world—they are YOU! There is no “us” or “them.” This is at the heart of the SMNE. Help us establish a New Ethiopia where our Humanity comes before ethnicity and where we are not content until all are free.

May Your Life Be Filled With Blessings!

I apologize, this has nothing to do with art, but a cry out for the help of the community because a young man's life is at stake because the hospitals won't accept his insurance.  This is one of my "Make a Difference" video series, but more importantly, a desperate call to our community to help in whatever capacity we can.

Ethiopian Airlines Joins Star Alliance

It's official. Yesterday, December 13, 2011, Ethiopian Airlines became a full member of the Star Alliance. The network of some of the world's leading airlines will be a significant step in the right direction for Ethiopian Airlines' strategic goals for 2025.

The picture below tells it all. In the middle with the Ethiopian flag is CEO Tewolde Gebremariam, who in less than a year as CEO has done some great things. Of course, due credit must be given to his predecessor retired CEO Girma Wake for making many strategic inroads.

Prosit, Ethiopian!

About Yaya Village

Yaya Village was established by Joseph Kibur and three other shareholders including

double Olympic gold medalist Haile Gebrselassie in 2009. It started operation

in 2011 after two years of construction. The location was chosen because of the

ideal environment including altitude, temperature and the surrounding forest and

mountain area.

The goal of Yaya Village is to provide a world class training facility for endurance

athletes both local and international. It is also our stated mission to contribute to the

development of our community. As such we follow the concepts of “green tourism”

by employing local people whenever possible; recycling waste, growing vegetables

and spices in our own organic farm, and conserving energy. In addition we provide

scholarships and other assistance to help the development of young Ethiopian

athletes especially women.

Dear ESAians,

There have recently been inquiries on the state of Ethiostudy. As noted on the ESAi website (http://www.esai.org/programs/ethiostudy/), the program seems to have been active through 2004. Programs like Ethiostudy are very essential for the development of the organization as well as the community in general. It also provides a platform where non-Ethiopians can explore the history and culture of Ethiopia. I am writing this message to see if anyone has any information on the status of Ethiostudy and/or if there are any interests in reinstating it.

Thank you,

Each year, the Medical Volunteer Program (MVP) sends approximately 20 to 25 volunteers to overseas assignments in countries where CMMB has an established office, and programs, or to a facility that has a relationship with CMMB.
