This page will guide you how to obtain Sailor Moon music and video without
getting ripped off by fansub- or bootlegsellers. First of all we want to give
the following advice: If you buy fansub or bootlegs, you commit the same crime
as the seller. You steal the hard work of so many people who were kind enough to
put those material FREE for download by fans. Selling fansub or bootleg is
illegal and can be seen as an INTERNETFRAUDE. Be carefull, some sellers will
tell you that there is no harm to buy those stuff. DON'T BELIEVE THOSE TALES! If
the police ever finds these material at your home, you'll risk heavy sentences.
You can always ask information concering these matters at your local
policestation. We are NOT telling LIES! To spare you from many trouble, we set
up this page. Below you can find information about how to download
episodes/music and most of all you can also find the discription of fansub and
bootleg DVDs and CDs.

Generally, follow the next rules if you want to avoid to get ripped off!
? Don't buy your DVDs or CDs from the Internet. (if you have the posibility to
buy it on your local store)
? Don't buy stuff from suspicious sites. (onprofessionel, weird, …)
? Don't buy from action sites like Ebay. (many people were frauded by buying on
Ebay, more info see below)
? Don't buy suspicious looking stuff. (look at the site of Bandai and compare
the covers)
? Don't buy offered stuff. (if the seller offers you stuff with email, that's
100% suspicious)
? Don't buy very low priced stuff. (if it's too good to be true, be sure it's no
good to buy)

1* DON'T BUY YOUR DVDs OR CDs FROM THE INTERNET.
    If you have the posibility to buy your stuff from your local store, buy it
rather from there then from an unknown Internetsite. Because then you have the
chance to see the item in 'real' and stores never sell bootleg or fansub.

2* DON'T BUY STUFF FROM SUSPICIOUS SITES.
    If the items you want to buy are not availeble in your country, you are
forced to buy it from an internet site. Be carefull because many sites are
fake! If a site offers you to pay them by send cash money to one of other
address or mailbox, be sure there is something wrong. Sites who work with
creditcard or paypal are also not always to trust. So watch out when you use
your creditcard. For Sailor Moon Live Action items we recommande CDJapan,
Yesasia or Neowing.

3* DON'T BUY FROM ACTION SITES LIKE EBAY.
    Ebay is an online marketingplatform. Their rules and policies are only valid
for the sale and the supply. The quality of the goods are not thier concern.
Ofcourse they have a buyers protection policy that recovers buyers for fraude
but once you got frauded you must be very patient to use your rights and that
doesn't mean you'll get your money back. Momently, every video item that's
selling on Ebay of Sailor Moon Live Action is fansub or bootleg!!!

4* DON'T BUY SUSPICIOUS LOOKING STUFF.
    If you see a DVD who has an onprofessionel cover or a description that
doesn't match, please stay away from it. Original PGSM DVDs are NEVER been
released with English Subtitles. So, if you see on a description that the DVD
carries English subtitles, that's a sign of fansub or bootleg.

5* DON'T BUY OFFERED STUFF.
    If a seller contacts you offering PGSM stuff for very low price, that's the
most dangerous thing you can do by buying his stuff. 30 % is sure that he'll
send you bootleg or fansub, 70 % is sure that he wont send you anything at all.
Some sellers look at forums and collect emailaddresses to contact people. So,
it's better not to give your mailaddress when you subscribe to a forum or make
your mailaddress invisible to other users.

6* DON'T BUY VERY LOW PRICED STUFF.
    If the price of a DVD or CD is very low, that means no good. Normally a PGSM
DVD costs around 58 Dollars. So, if you see one for 40 dollars that's no big
deal but if you bump to one of 15 dollars, well, don't waiste your 15 dollars
for fake DVDs or CDs. A blanc DVD - R costs nearly 3 dollars.

HERE ARE THE 10 SIGNS OF A BOOTLEG DVD. If you see two or more of the following
on a DVD set, that should serve as a red flag, because it's very likely that
it's a bootleg.

1. The DVD set is region-free. In MOST cases, when distributing companies
purchase licenses from the Japanese studios, they only have jurisdicion over
certain regions. When they produce anime DVDs for their specific regions, they
almost always encode the discs so that they can be seen only in regions they
market to. There are exceptions, but extremely rare.

2. The DVD set has Chinese and English subtitles. Granted, there certainly are
LEGAL DVDs that have Chinese subtitles. But most of the bootleg perpetrators
come from southeast Asia, catering to the Chinese-speaking and English-speaking
audiences. (With those two languages, they practically cover over half of the
world.) Be very suspicious when you see that advertised.

3. The DVD set costs about one U.S. dollar per half-hour episode. Unless a store
is closing down and/or the store decides to go on an insane clearance sale to
eliminate old inventory, you're not going to see this kind of price in ANY
reputable sales outlet. If the price is too good to be true, it usually is.

4. Your DVD set packs 7 or more half-hour anime episodes per disc. This is a way
for bootleggers to save cost by cramming as much footage in as small a number of
discs as possible, often at the expense of video quality.

5. Studio/Individual credits in the translated language is missing, both on the
external package and in the actual disc content. All legal distributing
companies will painstakingly translate credits of the Japanese creators and
their own staff in their own language. Many bootleggers will just photocopy
packages with Japanese credits and use them, only modifying a portion of the
information to suit their purposes.

6. "Unprofessional" e-mail addresses like "anime2001@..." or
"dvd_animation@..." pop up on subtitles and on packages. No
self-respecting distribution company will use a Yahoo! address or some other
bogus address as its contact point.

7. There is no valid contact point (mailing address, phone number, etc.) for the
studios/distributors. If you got something to hide, you wouldn't want info on
where you can be reached for the world to see.

8. Intro logo videos of the creating studios and distribution companies are not
shown before the main menu or the main program. Sometimes the bootleggers will
use their bogus logo videos that say something like "Anime Cartoon
International," "Manga International," etc. Or sometimes they jump straight to
the main program.

9. Logos of the "distributing company" pops up every so often during the
presentation of the main program. The "legit" companies for the most part
respect the integrity of the video products they market, and wouldn't dream of
ruining the video presentation with their logos protruding like an eyesore.
Could you imagine what the otakus would do to ADV, Pioneer or AnimEigo if they
pulled off that kind of stunt?

10. There are no extras on the DVDs. Most legitimate companies wisely utilize
the extra disc space to cram in trailers for other products, certain extra
footage and clips, etc. Many bootleggers simply don't have the time or the
technology to incorporate those.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ORIGINAL, BOOTLEG AND FANSUB PGSM DVDs

ORIGINAL:
* Has NO English subtitles.
* Has 4 episodes on a disc.
* Has extra's like interview
* Has region code 2
* Has no clock on the leftcorner.
* Has Japanese summanary
* Has logo's

BOOTLEG:
* Has English/Chinese subtitles.
* Has 6 episodes on a disc.
* Has no extra's
* Has Free region code.
* Has clock on left corner.
* Has no logo's
* Has English summanary.

FANSUB:
* Has English subtitles.
* Has 5 or more episodes on a disc.
* Has many extra's like muziekvideo's, interviews
* Has clock on the left corner.
* Has no logo's
* Has no / English sumunary.
* Looks unprofessional
