Yeah, I think you may be right - isn't the progression something
like:

Sometimers
Parttimers
Oldtimers
Alzhimers

Let's see, seems like there was something else in there, but I can't
remember either.

Bee and others,

If you go to this URL http://login.yahoo.com/ and check toward the
bottom of the box labeled "Existing Yahoo! users" you will see a link
titled "Password Lookup". Depending on the information you can provide,
you will either get your current password or you will be given a new
password. You can change your password after you sign in.

I believe this option is available on all initial Yahoo! sign in
screens, but didn't verify all of them.

Hope this helps.

Yes - you can't get more bang for the buck than the eTrex. That's what we used
for tracking at Nationals. Given that you're building a Quicksilver and don't
live in the shadow of ground zero or some other place with piles of airspaces,
the eTrex is all you will ever need. If you were going to be flying something
with some legs, it might make more sense to have a database on board.

However, by the time you get your plane in the air, there will be even better
units for even less. My advice? Put your money into getting the plane done
better and sooner. That GPS won't do you a bit of good (well, not much...you've
been using roadmaps in your car your whole life more or less successfully) until
you get your plane. And even for the first year after you have your plane, it
frankly won't help you much. You'll spend your first 50 hours within 50 miles
of the field anyway.

But, if you gotta get one for the Christmas shopping season, get the eTrex.

Punch it into your GPS Richie!

Been quite a while since I have flown over it. Down in Miami. The only
problem is that they should outlaw some people from being nude. Others they
should make mandatory.

Some of the best scenery though has just been flying along the coast. Have
had nice mountains come into view many times just flying along the public
beaches. Even was surprised one day when I overflew a swamp boat out in the
Everglades one time. 3 Nice open mountains ranges right out there sunning
themselves.

Hey, Richie, I can also send you the coordinates for the little nude

Hey Bubble Butt,

There is a Nudist/Swingers resort in the N. Georgia mountains. I
don't have the coordinates, but.....if you'll call my wife and tell
her you've invited me on a "fishing" trip, maybe we could sneak up
some weekend and record the coordinates. If were lucky, we may even
come home smelling like "fish".

Any of you good old boys ever build a plane and after your almost finished
slap yourself on the head and think--why in hell did I do it that way.
this beaver has the 5 gallon football looking strut tanks on it under the
jury struts, it has the round tube struts. I ordered the streamline plastic
struts to go over the round one. I had to cut and notch around the jury
struts to fit the streamline ones. after I had them fit they would move and
twist so I decided to get a foam can and shoot it down the inside of the
streamlines and wait for it to set. worked great, now they don't move and
are set right where they should be. last night I was installing the fuel
tanks and it hit me---why in hell didn't I run a metal fuel line inside the
streamline struts, would be out of the way and hidden. tomorrow I will take
the struts loose and run a long tube of some kind down the inside of the
trailing edge and try to push a hole throught the harden foam to get that
line in there. just goes to show you think before you do----Richie

Ken and List,

Thanks for the input. I did the diagnosis yesterday. The problem is in fact
the regulator. I had no trouble at all measuring the output of the lighting
coils (Well after asking my local club tech advisor who lives on the airport
which wires were the lighting coil output :-) ). A VOM between the yellow
and yellow/black output wires yielded 25 volts AC at idle and jumped up to
about 40 volts at 4000 RPM. Basically nothing coming from the regulator to
the battery.

New Key West on order. Should have my electric start working by next
weekend.

Still flies just fine though. Did about 2 hours of playing. Formation flying
with a buddy in a Hyperlite, then some more with a Hurricane. Just a little
nippy with the right side doors still off. I'll hafta put them doors back on
after the competition next Saturday.

Anyone in the DFW vicinity are still invited to the Art Lombas / Sam Cox
memorial fly-in next Saturday at 16XS Propwash, in Justin Texas.

Just got my planes (Crapella Jav. II's) outta the paint shop & am helping
my intended vict...... errr..... test pilot to psych himself up for the
first flights- later this week, if the weather agrees.

He's got a Pitts Special for his sins & says that low tire pressure is
all-important to a smooth controlled landing in a tail-dragger. The lower
the better, within reason. Says it keeps the plane stable & much easier to
control on landing. The Pitts comes in at a terrific speed of course.....
something like 65 knots.....

Seeing as the list is back to bitchy two-liners again, I just kinda figured
this question might raise a few comments & I might learn a thing or
two.......?

BTW- this guy is totally against crow hops and high speed taxiing. Reckons
the sooner you get off the ground the better, and the higher the safer when
you're playing test vict....... err.... pilot. Says you can figure out how
to land when the time comes. Sounds sensible, and totally contrary to the
official advice given in the Crapella ops. manual available at
www.capellakitplanes.com (if it's still there).

While you may or may not have good luck with the Hirth, the 2SI has no
factory support or testing whatsoever.

And for retail sale at some later date, your only engine choice should
be rotax.

Potential buyers will not take to your hirth at all,,,,,,,,,,,,,

and they may want to deduct the cost of installing one from your asking
price,,,,

and I'm not sure chuck offers the hirth anymore,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

A "gentleman" attacked me because he did not like the fact I am not

The test vict.. err.. pilot's thinking, seems reasonable to me.
I'll qualify my opinion by saying it's worth nearly as much as you're
paying.

My only experience in taildraggers is in Moyes Bailey Dragonflys,
an ultralight type air tug. I prefer just enough air in the tires
so that the side walls are squishing out moderataly at take off
weight. This effectively dampens the suspension a bit for landing.
A grass field is also the best way to go.

On the question of crow hops versus flying away, my opinion may be
worth even less, but I agree with your test pilot.
I can see the advantage of getting away from the ground to sort out
the flying characteristics. If it feels right in acceleration, where
the tail lifts off appropriately and the nose points down the runway,
I would elect to lift off and get some altitude.

Good luck with your new plane.
Warren

Do you really expect me to justify myself to you after your insinuation that
I'm a child molester?

This kind of attitude is exactly why you were kicked from the kitfox lite

One comment on low pressure in tires........Don't depend on that to make a
smooth landing ,learn to do it right with hard tires. I saw a guy kept low
pressure one time and he had to land on remaining runway after a engine out
on take off, he always ran low pressure for that reason, and when he turned
hard because of running out of runway he rolled the tire off the rim when
he turned and ,did some damage that might not have occurred.

Low tire pressure does help absorb some of the "bounce" of landing, but
be careful not to get too low. It ain't a REALLY big issue on dirt or
grass runways, but asphalt has a lot more grip on the rubber. You'll
pull the valve stems right out of the tubes when the wheel slips on the
rim.

As for crow hops and high speed taxiing, I can tell you that the factory
boys only do that on a new design just to test whether the aircraft is
gonna handle as expected. This is done only on first article test
flights. Once the design is proven subsequent first flights are done up
in the air where there ain't so many things to bump into.
At least that's the way they do it at the airplane factories I've worked
at. YMMV

Congrats on finishing up the birds, good luck on the first flights :)

As you have discovered, most email lists are run by
dictators...including this one. It's just that Bob is a more
benevolent dictator!!

Horse,

If you don't wanna be dead, I'd suggest shying away from Hirth and 2si
and go with Rotax.

Signed,
Not one to whip dead horses.
...and that "dead" comment regarding Hirth pilots isn't facetious. (Just
ask Halsmer descendants)
