We are a costume guild based in the San Francisco Bay Area. We sponsor events from all eras where you can wear your costumes. We also hold costume workshops (i.e. how to recover parasols, making corsets, etc). We are open to costumers of all experience levels--you don't even have to know how to sew. We approve all new members to eliminate spam and overt advertising.

We have a wonderful website at www.gbacg.org that lists our events and workshops, lots of links to costume related information. You will also find our exclusive "Great Pattern Review" where members and non-members alike give their reviews on costume patterns on the market. Read this before you buy those patterns. We invited your submissions to the Great Pattern Review!

Here's your opportunity to connect with fellow GBACG members and non-members interested in creating, wearing and talking about costumes.

You can network with each other about who is coming to one our events or workshops (maybe a carpool?) and throw costumes ideas back and forth. Use this list to share your best tips and techniques for costuming or the greatest new source you found for fabrics, trims, patterns, ready-made costumes---or ask a question on where you can find these things! Group lists like this usually bring forth so much great information sharing -- we anticipate that to happen here!

There’s a file section where you can upload photos of your latest costume creation or photos from an event you attended. Upload a file on your best techniques (how I used a new technique for a corset, etc.) to share with the group on our File section. When you join this group you’ll receive an email of our guidelines.

This email list is only to be used for the discussion of costuming, whether historical, sci-fi, fantasy, ethnic, etc. It should be fun, informative and supportive. Welcome!
