INDIA:

Textbooks in India allegedly praise Hitler

A history book in India is said to praise Nazism and gloss over the
Holocaust, the BBC reports.

Officials from the state education department say the claims are being
taken out of context and blame a poor translation from Gujarati into
English.

Human rights workers criticize the books for many reasons, including a
chapter on the "internal achievements of Nazism."

Cedric Prakash, a Jesuit priest, says he counted over 300 factual errors.

The books, issued by the Hindu nationalist state government, are used by
13 to 15 year olds in India's Gujarat state.
