Totally agree that outdoor amplification of music is the most irritating
thing that occurs in this neighborhood. Our irritating "music" comes from
Middletown-and the house of grease known as Johnny's. You can imagine the lack
of interest that town has when someone from Newport complains.
Why should I have to be listen to music from hundred of yards away as outdoor
amplification countinues to get louder and louder. It's a joke when you ask
the Police to measure the noise level.
What do our elected officials think about when they ignore the neighborhoods
and our quality of life? In the case of O'Briens-look at the small size of
that place and consider all the area around it is built up so that the sound
is going to resonate thru, around and over the buildings. What a shame for
that neighborhood.
Dennis McCoy tried to put a handle on outdoor amplification and was laughed
off the issue. Why do we need outdoor amplification? It was a given that the
O'Briens pub would get approval-just look at who owns the place either
directly of indirectly- and that is how Newport politics work.
Screw the taxpayers and let's make more money!
