Did I not read recently that there had been a state grant of several
hundred thousand dollars to repair the pier?

If I am wrong, which is not unusual, perhaps Friends of the
Waterfront, Friends of Van Zandt Pier and the Point Association should
join in sponsoring a ballot referendum for the immediate repair of the pier.

While such action is too late to be considered during the regular
election in November, a special election could be held early next year
if the new City Council does not act.
