Re: Will Newport ever consider making red-light-running a crime? If
so, would it
ever be enforced?
Virtual Council Candidate (VCC) says: "Yes, I sure would, but only if the
offender is also blaring
a stereo, has loud tailpipes, and is urinating in public. You know that our
accredited police department needs to focus on getting the biggest bang
for the buck."
Re: How will you stop the sewage flowing into the harbor and beach
waters? Will
you require testing of harbor waters for pollution?
VCC says: "I promise to mail out stickers to all city residents to be
placed on all toilets. It will reflect the environmental stewardship
practiced on Rose Island where their toilets have a placard stating
"three pees or one poo, then flush." I will then ask the city
manager to deputize EarthTech as the new "clean water police." Within
six months, I promise that the city will be able to reopen the beach
at Kings Park."
Re: Do you believe that school quality and cost are city council issues?
VCC says: "They sure are council issues. Tax money going to the
schools is tax money not going into roads, sidewalks, seawalls, sewer
repairs. I promise to work tirelessly to implement the the idea of
all public school children age 10 years and higher being released
from their schools at noon and then reporting to city 'work-study
gangs' until the 6pm fire horn sounds. Kids will learn practical
skills, will shed excess pounds, and will make our infrastructure gleam."
"Did I earn your vote?"
