How much do you really know about the Newport County Convention and Vistors Bureau (NCCVB)?

It's one of those quirky quasi-government organizations whose politician dominated board prefers to operate out of the public's glare.

You are invited to bring a flashlight and attend the upcoming Newport County Convention and Vistors Bureau BOARD meeting on Tuesday, September 9, 8am, 2nd floor conference room, Gateway Center.

The bulk of their revenue comes from the local bed tax.

What does the community get from the NCCVB ? How efficiently do they perform their function? How well do they work with the local business community? How happy are those millions of visitors who come to Newport? Do you ever recall hearing about our tourists actually being surveyed? What could the NCCVB do better?

Or should the public just leave them alone and just let them do their "thing"?
