Should city give up public right of way near Moorings?   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #384 of 6050 |
Liz Mathinos, of Friends of the Waterfront, is sharing the following information/opinion/request:

The City of Newport has been approached to give away another public right of way. This time it’s Scott’s Wharf, a public right of way that runs from  America’s Cup Ave to the harbor just south of the Moorings Restaurant. See map for details:  http://members.cox.net/cullen/images/Scotts_Wharf.jpg

Giving away this street would allow a certain property owner to consolidate his holdings, greatly increasing his lot size and therefore increasing the size of any building he might wish to build in or over the parking lot in front of the Moorings.  Call and/or email all members of the City Council and urge them not to abandon yet another public right of way without at least allowing the public to have input.
