Read today's Newport Daily News editorial on the topic "R.I. politics needs fresh faces, ideas"
The article showcases this one day course as an important way to help non-traditional candidates run for local and state offices.
(I have fixed the web links shown below)
The Candidates School, sponsored by Operation Clean Government, is a non-partisan educational seminar held every election year in Rhode Island. It's being held March 27th.
The Candidates School is designed to broaden citizen involvement in state and local government by empowering citizens with the knowledge they need to get involved in the political process.
Whether it's for the school committee, city or town council, state legislature, general office or federal office, if you are running for office or considering a run for office, (or supporting someone who is) get the information you need to make a difference!

Cranston Mayor Steve Laffey Endorses Candidates School
In a statement to Operation Clean Government, Mayor Laffey announces his full endorsement of the OCG Candidats School.
Operation Clean Government is an organization taking on the old, backroom style of government that has so plagued our City. The OCG Candidate School, which I attended in my preparation to run for office, is a great way for people interested in seeking an elected position to gain exposure to a positive, straight-forward, ethical approach to organizing a campaign.
I fully endorse the mission of this seminar. In fact, I consider this a “must attend” event for all candidates who believe in ethical and well-run Government.
