Is this for real or just a vote seeking re-election ploy? What is the group of 3
going to find that escaped examination this time last year?

Here's my one idea that I don't expect to go anywhere:

Ask your fellow school committee members, council members, their spouses, and
key administration officials to voluntarily cap any Blue Cross healthcare
benefit buyback to $3,000 each (versus the current $6,000+ perk). Better yet,
forgo this perk altogether and use the savings to save some programs.

(Unfortunately, the city legal office appears to have draped a shroud of
ignorance surrounding the question of who is benefiting from this ultra juicy
buyback deal).
