To all City Council candidates,
On behalf of Newport Neighbors United (NNU), (Burt Hoffman, Chair), may I first thank you all for accepting the challenge of running for office and working to help Newport solve its many complex problems. For our part, we have scheduled an informational meeting for August 19th from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Public Library (Program Room) with David Gordon, former mayor and present chair of the School Committee, who will share his experience(s) and perspective(s) on the most fundamental challenges facing Newport immediately and for the forseeable future.
NNU sees this as an exercise in communication and sharing which will hopefully be beneficial to all, especially the first time candidates. We know you all have very busy schedules but hopefully, you can find time to be with us. The general public will also be invited. Finally and once again, thank you for accepting the work and effort of the election campaign ahead -- we look forward to seeing you on the 19th.
