With the realise of the three new LOTR movies: The Fellowship of the Ring, Two Towers, and the Return of the King. It seems as an interesting subject to Heathenry (Theodism, Asatru...ect) that there be a place to disscuse the Alfar.

Are the Teutonic Alfar simlier to Tolkiens conception of what an Elf is? Or are they the "fairies" that we have passed down to us in children's tales?

Perhaps it is as how William P. Reeves suggests that the Elves are indeed a third divine race which have to a large extent as JRR Tolkien put: "Gone forth to the West and dimensished"?
