Question on the Independence 1775 from AL   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #1610 of 2829 |
Hi Fellow modellers

I am currently busy with the Independence 1775 from AL. I just
started out with the first layer of planking on the hull. The thing
that bothers me at the moment is the bending of the planks. Can I
only bend the planks in one direction and then attach them, and than
later fill the spaces with off cuts? Or must I bend them in two
directions in order not to have the spaces?

I red a book, "Ship modelling from scratch" where the author states
that you must use separate peaces to fill in the spaces. Is this only
used with a single layer hull, or can I use it with a double layer
hull as well. I actually thought to fill the spaces with off cuts,
then to cover the complete hull with wood filler, sand it down and
then install the final planking.

Does this make sense?

Paul, thanks, I received the conversion tables in good order.

Regards
Robbie
