I was looking into making a new model hull of a modern offshore work
vessel and was considering a different method of making a plug for a
mold of the hull (I've done the old solid wood type before but this is
tedious and requires a lot of sanding and modifications to get it
right). I've read in the past of using foam (styrofoam, polystyrene
or some sort) as a material for the master plug due to its ease of
shapeing. I seam to remember reading an article about it some time
ago but now that I look on the web I can't find anything that really
helps with my basic and other questions.
Does anyone out there have any links or information on using foam for
making a plug for later mold making of a ship hull?
