I joined the International Plastic Modelers Society (IPMS) in 1965,
soon after they'd first begun their USA chapter. Back in those days,
Jim Sage was president of the USA branch and the USA-branch
publication was a mimeographed sheet.

Through the 1970s, I worked at a hobby shop some may remember, called
Polk's Hobbies, on Fifth Ave. at 32nd St., in NYC. Perhaps there are
some members of this list who remember me from those days, either as a
salesman at Polk's or as a very frequent attendee (and very infrequent
award-winner) at IPMS conventions in the US and Canada from the early
70s into the mid 80s.

For over 30 years, I collected kits and books, building some models
but amassing a huge collection of unbuilt kits. Unfortunately, for
various reasons, I now have to part with most of that collection. I've
decided to start with the most valued pieces, rather than the other
way 'round.

It's hard to part with these, as for many years I envisioned these
proudly displayed in my living room when I eventually got around to
building them. The model of the below-mentioned ship, built with the
help of the below-mentioned book, would have been the very centerpiece.

It is my hope that all the items from my collection will find homes
with serious modelers who will derive pleasure from their possession.

It will take me a long time to unload all of them.

The first two items I'm putting up are a copy of "Scale Model
Warships" by Kozo Izumi, and a copy of the Nichimo 1/200 scale kit of
the WWII Japanese antiaircraft destroyer Akizuki. Anyone interested in
checking these out and looking them over can find them on eBay just by
going there and searching for the above. Note particularly the photos
I've included of the drawings in the Izumi book. While the book is
oriented toward scratch-building, it focuses on the modeling of the
Akizuki and can be used to ultradetail the plastic kit. It's also a
great guide to Izumi's techniques, which are applicable to modeling
anything.

My seller handle is BruceK_IPMS649.

The starting bids for which I'm asking are high, but entirely
reasonable; as the book is worth far more than that, and this is the
lowest price for which the kit is available anywhere as far as I can tell.
