Everyone take some time and check out the files section.  This week I will be
compiling the materials distributed at our class meeting last weekend into a
single, larger document.

Before she left, Susan Stoddard may have told you I was taking over as the YAAD
moderator.  I can not replace her, nor would I want to.  The work this class has
to do before Harvest (The traditional time for the YAAD class to begin and end)
is insurmountable, and not worth our time and energy to try to push it all
before Harvest Homecoming.

Therefore it is my opinion, that all students in this Year and a Day Class,
should indicate their desire to continue in a new Year and a Day class, I will
be hosting out at OA starting at Harvest Homecoming.  The members here, will be
given 'associate' status with more responsibilities and deeper secrets to learn.
This new class will be given "Board Approved" Curriculum and Students will
recieve lessons and assignments, and be exposed to "hands on" training by me and
the staff at OA on Open Full Moons and Festivals.  We will use this board for
files and discussions, but not as the primary means of teaching.

About me, I have two Bachelor's Degrees in Geology/Sociology respectively, a
Master's in Healthcare Management and Certified to Teach in the State of
Missouri.  My Magical Training comes from a mixture of self-study, Masonic
Lodges, Rosicrucian Lodge and the Traditional Martinist Order.  I am an initiate
in the Golden Dawn Tradition, as well as a proud pagan.

I'm sorry that the lessons and time devoted to "Susan's" were so short and
abrubt, but we must move forward, and create a class worthy and fun to learn
from.  There is so much to learn, we must learn it together in a consistent and
ordered time frame.

Please respond your interest, and help us make a YAAD Class worthy of Ozark
Avalon.

The Board officers discussed the Year and a Day program in some detail
over July 4th weekend, but we did not yet announce things...because we are
still working on it.

Susan did not conduct the clasess as she stated she would.  She no longer
has any connection with OA nor this class, and so she cannot speak to its
future.  All decisions regarding the Year and a Day classes are decided by
the Board of Directors.

Ozark Avalon has an official curriculum and clergy training plan, and we
need to make sure we use it, because that is what we have in our corporate
charter.  There is also a place for learning traditions other than the
Wiccan Shamanic tradition of OA, and Frank (and I and likely others) have
a place in teaching that, but we need to make sure we have the official
curriculum ready to go first.

At this time we have two Yahoo groups for the Year and a Day classes.  The
second was started by Susan because she had some troubles with the first
group.  The Board is thinking of consolidating them back into the original
group.  More later....

I would like to hear from our classmembers what they would like to see as
we get things worked out...

Well said Tom.  And you are absolutely right, there are opportunities to teach
and learn other traditions, maybe in this class, maybe in another free-standing
class devoted to another specific tradition.  I for one, would like to learn
more about several different traditions, and I would venture to guess that
others would too.  So,  maybe we can have multiple classes.

The Ozark Avalon Year and a Day Class 2011-2012 begins on Sunday December 11,
2011 at 10am at the Retreat Center.

A small donation of $10 each class will be appreciated. If you are unable to
donate cash, please contact Orpon or Sorsha for other arrangements.

The first class will be a meet and greet so that we can all get to know each
other.  We'll go over the schedule and requirements for completion of the class.
We will have several basic handouts that every student of Wicca should become
familiar with, and we will hand out the homework for the next class.

We would like to invite present Ozark Avalon clergy to sit in and help
facilitate the classes.
