Ryan,
La Luge is wide open and requires zero machete work. It is probably the most
ridden trail here. It is very fun. This rain doesnt seem to want to cooperate
but this weekend i would like to ride. If not maybe we can get together and walk
some of the east trails and cut them back. Let me know. Brandon

If you look in the photo album that I posted called "Sipers and Pipes" you can
see pictures of the start point for spider and pipes. The start point is by
Karashi dam. If you go out gate three turn left to go to Chibana golf course.
Pass the golf course and continue on that road, it is the road that the chibana
flee market is on. Keep going on that road for may 4 or 5 curvy miles.
Eventually you will have to make a 90 degree right turn at a gated refinery. On
the left before the refinery there are some cow farms. Once you make that right
take the first left. follow that road the the next major intersection. You can
park you car in the parking lot to your right. take your bike to the left. You
can see the dam ahead of you. At the end of that road is a locked Army gate. the
start is on your left about 20 yards before the fence. You can tell from the
pictures that I took that the trail is very overgrown and unable to be ridden.
once you start on the trail
continue on the fence line until you have to go directly between the fence on
your right and a small gated cement tank on your emediate left. If you turn left
where you think you should(before the cement tank) you want find the trail. Good
luck. there is a trail close to that one called Mad Hatter that one turns into
the Hole which runs to the express way by 329. I haven't tried it, but it seems
like no one rides on the east trails so bring a machete and clear you a riding
path. If you have tried La Luge I would like to know if its ridable and if there
is a way that I can take it all the way down to HLZ and spider alley. It sucked
starting there and riding up hill to the Hawk missile site.

your guys go out again and i cant meet you out there, you cant miss the arrow
and signs we put up today for Blurred vision but that is where we turned and
left for the day. If you ride that you just keep on the trail everything else is
easy to see. Along that fence though on the right hand side there are huge holes

guys fall in there it is a big drop.. Follow the trail and you will come out at
a cactus farm. Follow the gravel/paved road to the entrance to that farm. At
that large main road you turn left to go to la luge. you will pass a big hotel
on your right and come
up to the rest area you see in some of the pics on here on the left. Just past
that pavilion is the entrance again on the left. Now, that main road you come to
at the entrance of that cactus farm, if you were to go right as opposed to left,
somewhere down there is where mad hatter hole or whatever is at (according to
the wording on the maps). That road comes out to 329 I think it is, not sure but
i drove it once and it got me back to kadena underneath the expressway near gate
3. We are going to try and beat the rain and ride in the morning, probably
riding the inner loop and exploring a little bit. All are welcome to come. I
will be out there in the morning at 8 if it isnt raining. i drive the blue
funcargo. Take care gents, Enjoy! Brandon

Count me in this weekend. Looking at the weather it is supposed to rain Wed. and
Sat. so I was thinking Friday. If the trails are bad though I don't mind doing
some weed whacking for future rides. I'm trying to convince my wife to go with
me tomorrow if its not raining to do some maintenance. I've posted some pictures
in "spiders and pipes" album. Hopefully the trails on the west side aren't as
bad. Just let me know what days y'all are going.

blend in like the wood in the woods. If the weather cooperates this (new years)

probably 1/2 mile back to base. I tried the trail this past weekend but it was
overgrown. me and a buddy are going to try another trail this weekend(weather
permitting). We may have to machete our way through it. It seems like the trails
near Kadena Gate 3 over pretty overgrown, but are close to base. If you can get
a ride to Kadena your more than welcome to hack weeds with us.

The main start point for spider is not grown it all.  Its muddy but its a good
ride.  Me and my buddy just rode it on Sunday.  We usually ride every
weekend.  Paintball is a short ride; I'm not sure if its grown in or not.
Just follow the fence line and you wont get lost.

Ride safe but not too safe.................

Hey I'm new to biking here on Okinawa but I am pretty sure that there aren't any
near Kinser. There are some semi near Kadena gate3. If they have some sort of
transportation like the green line that you can take a bike on, then it would be
about a 4 mile ride to the start point. the trail goes towards base, so probably
1/2 mile back to base. I tried the trail this past weekend but it was overgrown.

Me and friend just started mountain biking on Okinawa. We tried to ride Spiders
and Pipes trail but it was too overgrown, we lost the trail about half of the
way through it and couldn't finish it. We have bought machetes and paint and are
going to fix Mad Hatter and Hole hopefully this weekend. If anyone who knows the
trails and would be willing to join us or just give info on any of the trails, I
would appreciate it. The OMBA website has pretty good info on the west side
trails but not the east side. The website looks like it realy hasn't been
updated in while. There are 3 people in my shop that ride bikes, so if anyone
would like to meet up and ride or just show us any of the trail it would be
great. Thanks.

So, I'm new to mountain biking but I am very interested in it. Last week me and
a buddy did about 1/2 of Spiders and Pipes on the east side of Okinawa. The
trail was so over grown though that we didn't actually bike it, we walked our
bikes through the over growth. We made about 1/2 of the way through the trail
when we lost it right past this (I guess) water treatment/hole with water/pond
place. There was some old Paint on the trees but eventually we lost it. I have
pictures of the last part of the trail that we could find. If anyone knows this
trail and could help I would love to do the rest of it and connect with the
Chibana trail. My friend and I have bought machetes and paint and are going to
try to bike or fix Mad Hatter and The Hole hopefully New Years weekend if the
rain lets up. I am looking for someone who is experience not only in biking but
the trails and who doesn't mind hanging out with a biking noobie.

Im at Quantico, Va. now but I just left and can help you out a bit. the first
light passed the pigs and bull. you make a right there. and go all the way to
the fence, that is where the trail is. you can go iether up or down the
fenceline. if you follow the fence to the left however, it is really cool and
you can get to all the 'good' trails that way. also, google the OMBA(Okinawa
Mountain bike Association) and hook up with some folks that are still around and
that ride. Enjoy that place, cause I sure did. and I miss it. and don't forget
to ask someone about the "La Luge". if your not experienced though, I wouldn't
recommend it. take it easy yo, David Nance

I am new to riding on the island. I went out and found the area that is
suppose to be spider loop. I didnt see the trail head anywhere? can someone help
me out? I was guessing it is on that fenceline all the way at the end of the
dirt road? Anyone riding tomorrow? Thanks for the help.

Bike is in very good condition, and is stock except for pedals and grips. Bike
has 6" of travel front and back with duel crown fork, is classified as a all
"mountain bike" weighing in ruffly at 30lb stock.
The bike is very good at climbing, hooking up very well with FSR suspension. As
for going down it really is just gets smoother the faster you go.

$2000 Firm, I might be able to throw a few extra's in. I live outside Kadena
gate 1 so if your interested in taking a look at it let me know.

This Link takes you to the Specialized website. Their 08 archive. If you want
Photos of the actual bike send me an email or post on OMBA
