Welcome!
This group if for posting obits of people from PA. You're welcome to post your own obits, as long as they have ties to PA. Be sure to include your source and the date. If you have any links to PA newspapers or funeral homes, you can add them to the site yourself.
If you use obits from this site, PLEASE reference this site as your source. Thanx!
I read 3 newspapers online every day and used to post all obits from them, but beginning in late Jan., 2013, I've only posted select obits, bcuz of the time involved every day to post ALL obits, which some days would take me 2 to 3 hrs.
Plus when I can access The Philadelphia Inquirer or other sources. Some obits in the Berwick-Bloomsburg paper, the Press Enterprise, have pix included with them. But bcuz of the way the paper is formatted, the pix don't upload for me to copy and paste. If you want to know if there's a pic included or to have the pic if it is, contact the paper. The Berwick Library or Bloomsburg U also has archives.
There's also abt 5 dozen links for newspapers and funeral homes in PA. Plus in the files section are newspaper articles that made front page news.
Note -the obits I have posted from the early papers from Wilkes-Barre, PA (1797-1806), even if it mentions a different state for the death, in other articles mentioned in the newspapers, they either lived in PA or have family there, which is why I posted them.
Total # of obits as of 3/31/13: 69,199
As of 12/30/12 (5 yrs): 67,777
To search for a name you are looking for, use the search box on the messages page. Type in the name you are looking for, hit search and if the name is in an obit, it'll come up. But be aware. If you are looking for any obit with a certain name, for instance Church, it'll bring up all messages with the word church in it.
