This group (which has been in existence for over a decade!) is designed as a safe place wherein paralegals, legal secretaries, and other legal support staff may discuss matters relative to the pleasures and pains inherent in employment within the legal field. Topics are diverse, such as obtaining employment, paralegal education programs, CLEs, salaries, freelancing, working independently, unauthorized practice of law, and any other aspect of employment that may come up. Feel free to vent about your boss and/or clients (using first names only, please!) if you so desire; here's the one place where you'll find people who know how you feel. The purpose of this list is to provide a safe haven wherein we can freely discuss whatever's on our minds. However, it is also meant to be a fun place; therefore, humorous posts are welcome as well (lawyer jokes, anyone?)

All views and opinions are welcome. However, please do not use unnecessary profanity or cross-post to other groups or individuals. Also, do not join to obtain legal advice, as paralegals cannot legally render legal advice.

Since this is a support group, flames and personal insults will not be tolerated.

For your privacy and protection, this list is restricted to those approved by the listowner. Rest assured, however, that this is a very diverse group, ranging from students to experienced paralegals and everything in between. Archives will be available only to list members, and no member profiles will EVER be made publicly available.

Please be sure to state specifically why you want to join the list, when you send in the request. Requests without that information will be denied.

Also please note that we welcome international members, but we do not accept new members involved in foreign legal outsourcing. We believe that the practice not only takes jobs from well-qualified US paralegals, it also poses a serious danger to clients; and for those reasons, we decline to encourage the practice.
