From wnxx.com
This year, at The Battlefield Line, we have received a request from Santa
for some mileage behind steam heat provider, 25067.
To keep Santa in a good mood for the forthcoming festive season, we have
granted his request and provided the said 'Rat' for two return trips on
Saturday 28th November, departing at 12.00 and 14.00 from Shackerstone.
To save making the usual excuses to your loved ones, to chalk up some 'Rat'
mileage, why not bring them along. Fares are a flat £11 per person and that
includes all the usual Santa trimmings (A Present, Drink and Gingerbread man
for the Children. a Drink and a Hot Mince Pie for the Adults).
However, if you are treating yourself to a 'Credit Crunch Busting Scrooge
Christmas' then may we tempt you with a 'Special Non Santa Ticket'. For the
princely sum of £10 per person this ticket will enable you to sample two
return trips behind 25067, a hot Mince Pie and a Drink per trip.
Please note, the drinks for the Adults included in each of the above deals
are a choice of Wine, Sherry or Orange Juice.

Very regrettably the charter with D2337 at the Heritage Shunters Trust on 31st
October 2009 has had to be cancelled due to operational reasons.
The cheques that Brillo has received will be destroyed. It is unlikely that the
charter will be arranged for another date.
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Below is an announcement extracted from - http://www.westernchampion.co.uk/
The Diesel Traction Group are sorry to announce that due to a engine problem on
D1015, the locomotive requires immediate attention resulting in the locomotive
being unavailable to work the Buxton tour on 31st October. The DTG engineers
have a plan of action to rectify the fault and the locomotive will be available
to take up it's duties on the 05th December tour to Scarborough.
The Diesel Traction Group apologise for any disappointment and inconvenience
caused, however it is intended that the Buxton tour will now run on the 20th
March 2010.

I have just been informed by Brillo that this charter may have to be postponed
for operational reasons, so if anyone was thinking about booking advance train
tickets/accommodation etc please don't. Brillo says that he will know more on
Friday. Sorry for the uncertainty but obviously as soon as he became aware of a
problem he wanted to pass it on just in case people were about to book things.
Obviously if it is cancelled those that have already booked will receive a full
refund. As soon as we know more I'll post it. Thanks.

A PLEG charter using D2337 will take place on Saturday 31st October 2009 at the
Heritage Shunters Trust base at Rowsley. The HST have their own sidings which
are not part of Peak Rail operations. A guide will be on duty in the car park to
direct people to the correct location.
D2337 was deemed unfit to take part in the last diesel gala due to a faulty
gearbox but the HST have decided however that D2337 can take part in a charter
with no other traffic running.
Due to Peak Rail restrictions the charter can only operate from the foot
crossing to the HST small shed. The charter will commence at approximately
11.00AM and five or six runs will be undertaken if possible.
Would all patrons initially please send a registration email with their name and
address to email so that I can get an idea of the number of people expected.
Please DO NOT send a cheque without registering first.
The charter will cost £10.00 and all cheques should be made payable to The
Heritage Shunters Trust and posted to:

sneak-preview of the livery that 31452 will bear when it attends our diesel gala
at the end of the week.

PS: I will be posting a minor timetable change affecting loco diagrams to the
same website later today.

The D2578 Group have advised that BOTH the 03 (03145) and the 05 (D2578) will be
working, subject to the usual caveats, the BLS visit to the Moreton Park Railway
this Sunday. The 03 was under repair but those repairs have now been completed.
Further details of the event can be found on the PLEG site www.pleg.org.uk

Hi folks,
Ribble Steam Railway (Preston) is having it's diesel gala this
weekend. The proposed line-up may disappoint some as it's exactly the
same as the 2007 and 2008 galas. But anyway timetable should be as
follows;
11:00 D2148 (Class 03)
12:00 D2595 (Class 05)
13:00 TBA
14:00 D2595 (Class 05)
15:00 D2595 (Class 05)
16:00 D2148 (Class 03)
Note that the 13:00 departure had been showing on their website as
"Stanlow No.4" until a few days ago, so who knows what's working that
- it certainly wont be 03189 or D9539, both of which are still "in
the shed in bits".
See their website for fare details etc. - <http://
www.ribblesteam.org.uk/>

Don't forget folks that the Nene Valley railway nr Peterborough are having their

Hello folks.
Planning is almost complete for our October Diesel Gala.
The timetable is in it's final draft and is being checked prior to publication.
As soon as it is ready, it will appear on the www.gcrn.co.uk website on the
Diesel Gala Page.
The event will see the preservation debut of 47765, returning to service after
nearly 10 years since withdrawal (it last worked a train in March 2000). The
locomotive successfully completed a test run to Loughborough Jct on Sunday
(accompanied by 47292).
See a clip on Youtube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZP-T42hWUOI
Also making it's debut will be 08220 - resplendent in it's new BR Blue livery.
It is many, many years since this locomotove was last operational, and is a
credit to it's dedicated restoration team.
The gala will mark the last chance to sample 37248 at GCRN as the 37 is due to
move to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire railway just after the GCRN event.
The supporting cast of locos includes; 08114, 20007, 20154, 25279, 47292, 56097
and 73110.
At just £15 for an adult day rover, allowing unlimited travel for the day of
purchase, the event is excellent value. The timetable sees hourly, on the hour
departures from Ruddington and Rushcliffe Halt (East Leake).
All our trains will feature on-board food, and we have again secured a range of
excellent ales from the "Brunswick" brew-pub in Derby (The Brunswick was long
associated as "the Railway Works Pub" in Derby.
All event details are to be found on the Diesel Gala page at www.gcrn.co.uk
We also have a guide for photographers and information on how to find us on the
website.
Mark.
After final locomotive testing yesterday it was found that 08016 and D2854
couldn't maintain air when paired together up so they have had to be split up
and regretfully a new main line roster has had to be drawn up. I apologise on
behalf of the HST for this but hopefully this should be the last alteration and
all will be well for the weekend.
New roster at http://www.heritageshunters.co.uk/Events.htm or www.pleg.org.uk
(Latest News page).

D9525 has had to be removed from the main line trains due to an exhaustor
problem. I have now written D9525 into the brake van roster. New rosters can be
found at http://www.heritageshunters.co.uk/Events.htm and also www.pleg.org.uk
(Latest News page).
Brillo
With the big day rapidly approaching, I thought it would be a good time to
remind everyone that D5310's public debut in traffic on the Llangollen Railway
is next Saturday.
Timings for 'a 26th on the 26th' are:
10.30 ex Llangollen and 11.15 return from Carrog
12.00 ex Llangollen and 13.00 return from Carrog
14.00 ex Llangollen and 15.00 return from Carrog
16.00 ex Llangollen and 17.00 return from Carrog
Standard return tickets are valid as a day rover and available for £10.
We are looking forward to seeing a few folk at Llan. Fingers crossed for good
weather and some nice photo opportunities.
Best wishes
