This group has been set up especially for those people who are just now finding out about the concept of "Peak Oil" and the possible impacts on themselves, their families, civilization and the world. It is for people who have joined other lists like RunningOnEmpty2 and feel as if they've just caught the tail-end of a very serious conversation but don't feel comfortable in asking what it was all about. It is for those people who may have heard the term "Peak Oil" but don't understand what it really means and want to know more...or do understand and are having difficulty dealing with the resulting feelings.

"Peak Oil" is not a concept you just read about and then walk away from untouched. And once you comprehend it in your heart as well as your mind, you'll never look at the people around you or the world in quite the same way.

This is the group where you can ask your questions...over and over again if need be. Or where you can talk about those feelings that no one else around you seems to understand. All we ask is that you come with an open mind because, chances are, you may end up having to re-examine some of the fundamental beliefs you grew up with and learned in school.

This is the group where feelings are as important as the desire for knowledge. We'll deal with both here and help each other come to terms with the changes that must come to pass if we are to survive as a species and as a world.
