Watch the LIVE TV COVERAGE of FOOD BOWL NIGHT MARKET on UNANG HIRIT, GMA 7, Friday, April 8, 5:15am to 8am.

Food Bowl Night Market (FBNM) is a convergence and showcasing of organizations behind safe and healthy food system in the Philippines. These groups are practitioners, advocateurs, producers and farmers of organic, biodynamic and natural farming. Our objective is to make these safe and healthy food choices available to the general public for education and of course, your choice for food consumption. We have started March 18.

An addition to the FBNM is the Herb Republic, a campaigner of Community Support Agriculture (CSA) and Pinoy Fish Mart Multipurpose Cooperative. The CSA is a very critical system in the food chain to reduce carbon footprint and strengthen the family spirit of a community while the Pinoy Fish Mart is an assurance of safe fisheries products and produce from the different fisherfolks in the country.

For the institutional side, we have initiated discussions with DOH to issue a memorandum to all hospitals especially their food suppliers to check out Food Bowl Night Market and maybe next is to mandate these hospital food suppliers to get/buy their fresh/processed produce from the sellers of FBNM. At this point, certification is among the organizations themselves while we await for the government's implementation of the Organic Agriculture Law on subsidizing the certifications for the first three (3) years.

Food Bowl Night Market Mission: Our hope, in terms of our niche and what we want to do, in terms of changes and progress and food policy and even food consumption, is to really connect people — to connect citizens to their food system — in really important ways.

Our biggest challenge is that food is a really devalued commodity in the industrial world. And we’ve lost touch with the value and the importance, not only of our food, but also of our decisions around buying food and buying commodities.

If we can connect people more clearly to our food and to our environment, then we’re going to make better decisions as consumers, we’re going to make better decisions as communities and we’re going to make better decisions on a national policy level. (taken from Lea Mayor, author Taking Root)

Food Bowl Night Market is open every Friday and Saturday, 4pm to 11pm at the ETON Centris Walk, Edsa corner Quezon Avenue (MRT) station, Quezon City. For queries, please call (02) 806-2448 or 0920-969-3242.

Help me build the Filipino Democrats online community

Dear friends and fellow patriots for the motherland,

Greetings! I have just launched the FilipinoDemocrats.org, please join me there.

FilipinoDemocrats.org features both a discussion board and blog services where progressive activists, civil society leaders, media practitioners and concerned Filipinos like you can engage in healthy and spirited discussions on popular and pressing issues affecting our country everyday, in an exercise of engaged citizenship.

In this democratic e-space that we carve for ourselves, let us freely and boldly express our problems and concerns, ideas, comments and suggestions, hopes and aspirations, expectations, disappointments and frustrations, criticisms and accusations to our government, and as we discover our commonalities strengthen our unity as a people.

We formally called this fora the "Voices of Philippine Democracy," but decided to nickname it as the "Voices of the Bosses" after President Noy declared "Kayo ang boss ko," (you are my bosses).

But, will P-Noy really listen and heed to the voices of his acclaimed bosses? Presidential actions will speak louder than presidential words.

See you at the FilipinoDemocrats.org

CONSUMERS AND FOOD PRODUCERS TO MAP OUT ORGANIC POPULATION

The Food Bowl Night Market (FBNM) Convenors Group and The Consumer Rights for Safe Food (CRSF) agreed to map out organic population of the Philippines through a research survey to be conducted by both producers and consumers.

The initiative will help see each other’s perspective especially in the pricing of organic and natural produce like rice, vegetables, fish, chicken, livestock, among others.

“Organic is low in production because at this point, most organic advocates are in the conversion stage. We have to condition the soil first to return it to its humus form,” said Terso Rasco, a farmer and a vermiculture expert from Camarines Norte.

“Economies of scale would also dictate a higher pricing for organic produce at this time. Farming inputs on production and fair trade on farm gate prices like palay and the presence of a trader also affect high pricing of organic produce,” explains Ms. Lina See Tan, Chairman Emeritus of the Organic Producers and Trade Association. .

“To dampen the prices, consumers should practice the community-based household production or the Community Support Agriculture (CSA) in their respective areas especially for vegetables. This way, the consumers will become aware of nutrition farming in their backyards,” suggests Mr. Pablito Villegas of the One Organic Movement.

“As for the poultry and livestock, there are no sources of organic corn and soya as feeds that is why at this point all are considered naturally grown, anti-biotic and hormone free. In organic, there are standards to follow while natural farming is flexible.” he added.

Dr. Nina Galang’s CRSF will join the Food Bowl Night Market to start the campaign in the mapping out of organic consumers. The FBNM Convenors Group will line up Information, Education and Communications (IEC) programs e.g. seminars and activities for consumers especially on safe and healthy food systems.

The FBNM Convenors Group is a convergence of safe and healthy food producers from organic, biodynamic and natural farming systems. The group envisions to make the Philippines as the Organic Center of South East Asia.

Food Bowl Night Market is open every Friday and Saturday, 4 to 11 pm at the ETON Centris Walk, EDSA corner Quezon Avenue (MRT Station), Quezon City.  For queries, please call 02-8062448 or 0920-969-3242.

ORGANIC STANDARDS LECTURE

The Organic Agriculture Act of 2010 or RA 10068 provides a tremendous boost in the promotion of organic agriculture and trade in the Philippines. But, before any inspection and certification, the organic standards should be clear to everyone advocating and practicing organic agriculture. The word “organic” has standards to follow.

The Bureau of Agriculture Fisheries Product Standards (BAFPS) of the Department of Agriculture will conduct a free lecture on THE PHILIPPINE NATIONAL STANDARDS (PNS) ON ORGANIC AGRICULTURE on May 20, Fri, 5-6pm at the Food Bowl Night Market, ETON Centris Walk, EDSA corner Quezon Ave (MRT station), Quezon City.

It will be followed by an orientation on the ASIAN REGIONAL ORGANIC STANDARDS (AROS) by Mr. Pablito M. Villegas, Philippine Representative to the 10th IFOAM Organic Convention in Korea at 6-7pm.

BAFPS is in charge of the development of product standards, including the Philippine National Standards for Organic Agriculture. BAFPS also serves as the secretariat of the National Organic Agriculture Board.

The series of lectures on standards, inspections, and certifications is an advocacy campaign by the Food Bowl Night Market Convenors Group composed of NGOs, agripreneurs, entrepreneurs, farmers and technical experts on organic, biodynamic and natural farming.

For confirmation of your attendance, please text or call 0920-969-3242 / 0917-477-4831 or (02) 806-2448.

Dear Friends,

Greetings from the Eco Sustainability (Partido Kalikasan Institute) and National Economic Protectionism Association (NEPA)!
The Philippine government is in the final stages of adopting the Philippine Development Plan (PDP 2011-2016) that will guide the country's development inthe next 6 years.

EcoSustainability and NEPA are both equally concern whether the current PDP will focus on the right priorities and strategies to promote Nationalist Green Development. This is crucial as we continue to struggle amidst widespread poverty, inequality, global economic, food, water and climate crises. It is also critical that we are very clear with our national interest as we pursue our development program with the current government.

May we invite you to be a participant in a public forum-consultation we are co-convening this coming 27th May 2011, Friday to be held at the ZWRMFP Conference Room,National Ecology Center (NEC), East Avenue, Quezon City.

Values vs. Costs: It takes extra time, extra labor and extra feed to produce meat on pasture, but resulting to better nutrition and delicious flavor are well worth the cost.

First JUNIOR CERT TRAINING SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCTED

Reference: Mark A. Cervantes, Program Specialist, Disaster Risk Reduction

With echoes of playful voices inside the training hall, 12 children ages 6-13 successfully completed the first  training on Junior CERT or Community Emergency Response Team. The two-day training was conducted to develop the skills and increase the knowledge of children on disaster preparedness. Held at the Yen Center, International Institute of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR), Silang, Cavite on June 3-4, 2011, participants of the first Junior CERT training were the children of IIRR staff and residents.

On the first day, the participants viewed the CERT Action and “Tales from Disasters” videos which showed hazard scenarios of earthquake, flood, landslide and typhoon. The participants were then trained on Disaster Medical Operations (DMO) which included handling life threatening emergencies such as opening the airway, controlling bleeding, shock, triage, head-to-toe assessment, wound care, first aid treatment of impaled objects, amputations, sprains/strains and splinting.

For the second day, the participants were trained on Basic Fire Safety and Light Search and Rescue (LSAR).  Simulating an emergency situation, the children were divided as “rescuers” and “victims” as they applied their new learning.

The Junior CERT Training is spearheaded by Gonzalo “Jun” Servano, Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Risk Reduction Project Staff, assisted by Maggie Rosimo, Learning Community Coordinator and Mark Cervantes, Program Specialist on Disaster Risk Reduction.

Junior CERT is part of the Disaster Risk Reduction program of IIRR. IIRR will be offering customized training course on Junior CERT to schools, local organizations and other institutions to build resilience of children against the impact of disaster and climate change.

For more information or to inquire about the Junior CERT Training, please contact:  Jun Servano @ gonzalo.servano@... or call (63-46) 414-3216.

ORGANIC RICE FESTIVAL

Rice, being the most dominant cereal crop in most of the countries can improve the health condition of millions of people who consume it. Efforts are made to increase the micronutrient value of rice by mixing traditional methods of growing crops and modern bio-technology like bio-fortification of synthetic high iron and zinc compounds.

Why Organic Rice?

Organic rice is food product which is produced naturally without chemical processing or with no synthetic substances like pesticide, herbicide, chemical fertilizer, and no hormone injection. The process is without ionization radiation or genetic modification. It uses organic fertilizer to grow. Organic rice contain better nutrient for human body and also can be an alternative for treatment.

Press Release

"RIDGE TO REEF MOBILE CONTACT FOR ECOSYSTEM RESILIENCE MADE"

One of the Laws of Ecology asserts that "Everything is Related to Everything Else". This means that each and every ecosystem has its significant role to play to create the needed balance so "environmental services" are protected and can sustain our life support system.

Two organizations is currently on a journey for the purpose of pushing ecoystem resilience as a mechanism on disaster risk reduction.

In the Province of Negros, environmental organization Green Alert is conducting its "Panagaytay" environmental camp which aims to educate the significance of ridge to reef ecosystem management. Various environmental organizations joined the said event to understand that upland ecosystem has a significant link to lowland & coasta ecosystem. Panagaytay is organized in collaboration with the Provincial Environment and Management Office of the Provincial Government & City Government of Sagay.

Simultaneously, the Partners for Resilience (PfR), a network of five Netherlands-based humanitarian, development and environmental organisations namely CARE Nederlands, Red Cross/Red Crescent, Cordaid, Red Cross Climate Center and Wetlands International is currently in CARAGA Region in Mindanao for a 5 day field visit in various ecosystems in Agusan & Surigao to learn with local government units & communities on the significance of ecosystem management and its link to disaster and climate change. PfR aims to reduce the impact of natural hazards on vulnerable communities. PfR believes in the central role of resilience as the way to effectively deal with development in disaster-prone areas and affected ecosystems. Through increased resilience people are better able to withstand shocks in their environment and have a greater capacity to secure their livelihoods. Promoting Ecosystem Resilience as a strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction is one of the innovations under the PfR approach.

On June 25, the participants of Panaytay reached Carbin Reef in Sagay Marine Reserve. Carbin Reef is one of the most beautiful sand bar the marine protected area and the Province of Negros. On the otherhand, PfR and their partners coming from their local partners in Manila, Cordillera & Mindanao trekked the summit of Mt. Magdiwata, the last known watershed area in Agusan del Sur. Although separated by distance & ecosystem characteristics, both aims to put emphasis on the ridge to reef ecosystem management.

At approximately 4:00pm, Pieter Van Eijk of Wetlands International made a mobile contact from the summit of Mt. Magdiwata to Green Alert in Carbin Reef in Sagay Marine Reserve in Negros Occidental.

During the mobile conversation "from ridge to reef", Pieter Van Eijk congratulated the organizers of Panagaytay and asserted the importance of ridge to reef ecosystem management as a disaster risk reduction strategy and in building ecosystem resilience. Pieter Van Eijk also highlighted some of the issues confronting both forest and coastal ecosystems like environmental degration which is already causing disasters to local communities.

Ali Lacson of Green Alert on the otherhand shared to Pieter Van Eijk that Panagaytay aims to raise the awareness of the participants on the significance of ridge to reef ecosystem management which is one of significant issues in Negros that has to be understood by all.

ROOT CROPS! the energy of nutrients

The multiple health benefits and ready availability of root crops in our soil like gabi, potato, ube, and cassava are primary reasons to further elevate root crops into staple food status, as is already being done for kamote and cassava.

The innate nutritional benefits of root crop consumption is primarily for the prevention of chronic diseases like cardiovascular disease, cancer, chronic respiratory disease, and diabetes.

Root crops are good sources of soluble dietary fiber that actively lowers cholesterol in the body and also prevents tumor formation in the colon

Among its diversified range of products developed from root crops are chips, starch, flour, and grates.

Filipino Food Festivals features the indigenous root crops at the Foot Bowl Night Market on July 29, 30 and August 5, 6.

Meet Your Producers Forum 5-7pm, July 29 Atiaman Katutubo Tribes of Palawan on The Story of the Indigenous Root Crops, August 5 IMO Formulation using Root Crops by Mr. Jessie Hermosura, a natural farming advocate.

Organic and Natural Food Free Tastetival's Root Crop Cooking Demo on Saturdays (July 30 & August 5), 7-9pm. Cassava and sweet potato “Kamote” will take center stage.

Food Bowl Market is a convergence of producers practicing and advocating for safe, clean and healthy food through organic, biodynamic and natural farming systems.

Food Bowl Market is open every Friday and Saturday, 4 to 11 pm and Sundays 6am to 2pm at the ETON Centris Walk, EDSA corner Quezon Avenue, Quezon City.

I myself was cured from HYPERTENSION, HIGH URIC ACID, HIGH CHOLESTEROL, BORDERLINE BLOOD SUGAR AND  KIDNEY STONES and I did not drink any MEDICINES!!!

Hello my friends,  (THIS IS SYSTEMIC ENZYME THERAPY!)

I recently stumbled upon a very good Filipino made product called bio enzyme plus made from fruit enzymes, all organically grown, naturally fermented without any chemical additives and gosh, it is very effective! I have been trying out so many herbal products and this one is just stunningly miraculous! Enzymes have the ability to catalyze any toxins inside your body and convert it into water so you could get rid of them through your stool, perspiration and urination thus freeing you of any disease that you are suffering from.

I have seen so many people suffering from stroke who after intaking enzymes you wouldn't even have the slightest idea they suffered from it. Diabetes patients totally cured from it, even regaining their eyesight, there was even one who actually was cured from gangrene avoiding amputation of her foot. Stage 4 breast cancer, liver cancer, colon cancer being totally free and cured from it. People about to go for a triple bypass cancelled after drinking enzymes, hypertension sufferer's blood pressure dropping to normal. Impotent men getting back their manhood from enzymes (a whole lot better than viagra!). Goiter (hypo or hyper thyroidism) and arthritis cured in less than 2 weeks.Would you believe that kids who are not able to speak any words could now do so because of bio enzymes. Lupus sufferers totally cured, psoriasis totally cured, even comatose patients whom doctors said would not live normally being able to walk and live normally as if nothing happened and so many other cases
that you would normally think incurable, even AIDS!!!

Wow, if only we would turn back to mother nature, any disease known to man is actually curable. The science of it is so simple, backed by 15 years of research by top Russian, Japanese and Filipino scientists, they discovered that by just eliminating the root cause of the disease which are the toxins present in our bodies that we have accumulated through years of eating, drinking, inhaling toxins we would be totally free of any kind of disease we could be suffering from!!! This could not be achieved by herbal supplements, vitamins or any medicines, only enzymes have the ability to detoxify our bodies. Being catalysts, enzymes convert any toxins in your body into water so you could eliminate them through stool, sweat and pee. By cleansing yourself of these harmful toxins, the damage that was done in your body will be repaired as our cells have the natural ability to repair themselves, thus healing us of any disease.

You just might know of people who are sick and have nowhere else to turn to, people who just want to feel better, people sick and tired of drinking medicines etc etc. I could conduct a scientific health seminar (only 15 minutes) for them to further explain the health benefits. It could be one on one or big group type. You could contact me thru my landline, I am from Quezon city, 4356430 or globe 09179445314.

MOVING PLANET DECLARATION
September 24, 2011, Rosario, Cavite

Mabuhay Rosario!

Maraming salamat!

Dear Friends

We are now recruiting coordinators for Partido Kalikasan!

For more information about the Party, please visit http://partidokalikasan.grouply.com

City/Town Coordinators for Partido Kalikasan (PK) can serve two purposes for the Party. In the long-term, it is to build the core group of the Party in forming our basic EcoSystem Chapters and eventually the Bio-Regional Assemblies. In the immediate, it is to build the organizational structure of the Party necessary for to prove our capacity to operate as a national political party. The latter is important as we file our petition for accreditation as a national political party this January 2012.

The coming together of various city/town coordinators into legislative district-level core groups will also form the basis for the local Governance Committees which will be mobilized as the main electoral campaigning machinery in 2012 through 2013 election process.

The target is to recruit coordinators from at least 61 cities and 756 municipalities which represent 50% of all cities and towns all over the country. We currently cover less than 200 cities and towns in 17 provinces nationwide.

We are circulating to all our members and supporters the directory if PK City/Town Coordinators to ask everyone interested to sign up.

May I request everyone to please sign up yourselves to the appropriate city/town that you will be accountable for in building Partido Kalikasan.

You can do that in this online excel form:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsKNNw1B4HW0dGxtYXFOT2VUMWZtLS1VajdhU2Y5Q3c

As the Philippine government prepares its new Executive Order on mining operations in the country, Partido Kalikasan clarifies is stand on extractive, ore-exporting mining policies and programs in the country.
