Continuing in Resurrection Grace

Christ is risen from the dead and on those in the tombs giving life!

Maintaining the grace of the Resurrection can be difficult. The symbol of the
butterfly has been a symbol of the resurrection for centuries and gives insight
into how we can keep more of the Resurrection grace.

In this homiletic sermon, Fr John Brian walks through the end of Ephesians
Chapter 4. He equates the "new man" - that St Paul's tells us to "put on" - with
the superhero each of us has within us.

This is an inspirational sermon by Fr. John Brian on Orthodox Christian
spirituality completely within the New Testament teaching of St. Paul.

Fr John Brian lays the groundwork for us to share the Good News of the light and
life and deep abiding love presented to us at the Resurrection and bourn upon
the Word from the beginning.

This sermon uses and refers to scripture readings appointed by the Syrian
Malankara calendar and was given on Sunday, April 29, 2012 by Fr. John-Brian
Paprock at Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Mission Chapel, Madison, Wisconsin.

Please, as you are inspired to pray for us and help us, let us know your prayer
needs during this auspicious time. Thank you for your prayers, especially for Fr
John Brian. This is an important time for our mission parish - please continue
your prayers and good intentions for us.

To All.

Praise the LORD.

There is no settlement with regards to the Piravum church "cathedral"
declaration by IOC. IOC is allowed to use the ground for their holy qurubana..

What IOC will do they will utilize that time and declare as Piravum church as
cathedralť, even though the church is not under IOC custody..

At the end it was an utter failure on behalf of Syrian Orthodox Church..

I wish in future if somebody of Syrian Orthodox Church become the Prime Minister
of India and he/she loves the Syrian Church; could help SOC in resolving all
church disputes (i.e. no rights for IOC in SOC church & its properties)..

READ: John 16:7-15

The Holy Spirit . . . will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance
all things that I said to you. —John 14:26

When I was growing up, I stayed with my grandparents for a week or two every
summer. They lived on a street that dead-ended into some railroad tracks. I
would often awaken several times on my first night as the box cars rumbled by or
when an engineer blew the train whistle. By the end of my visit, however, I had
grown so accustomed to the noise that I could sleep straight through the night
without interruption. I had tuned out the sounds.

There are other interruptions that I don’t want to tune out! I love it when my
husband unexpectedly brings me a cup of coffee when I’m working at the
computer. And it brings me joy when I receive an unexpected call from a friend.

Sometimes we’re tempted to tune out “divine interruptions” of the Holy
Spirit instead of listening to His promptings. He may nudge us with a
realization that we need to ask forgiveness for something we said or did. Or
persistently remind us that we should pray for someone who is experiencing a
crisis. Or convict us that we have never fully shared Jesus with a person we
care about.

When the Holy Spirit indwells us, He teaches us, convicts us, comforts us, and
guides us into truth (John 14:16-17,26; 16:7-8,13). Are you tuned in to the
interruption of His voice? —Cindy Hess Kasper

Holy Spirit, help us hear
Your inner promptings, soft and clear;
And help us know Your still, small voice
So we may make God’s will our choice. —D. De Haan

Make the right choice: Obey the Spirit’s voice.

Dear All,

IOC is not all the ancient Marthoma Christian church. Few incidents I happened
to witness is proving it. They have thrown out all the legacy of Marthoma
Christians of the Church of Malabar. Their High Priests, Priests and Laity, all
of them say like a tutored parrot, which can utter few words. The incidents
which I would like to mention are - one on the occasion of a Holy Baptism, and
the other on a Holy Matrimony. Both these sacraments were presided over by their
socalled high-priests. They even do not qualify to compare with the priests of
our Lord's time. There our Load told the multitude that "you only obey their
words, not follow their action". Here these IOC highpriests talked like people
who talk in a market place. They have been tutored to redicule the Holy Church
and Faith, to mislead the faithfuls, and their main target of attack is our
Moran and our Beatitude. These people could not digest with the tremendous
growth and leadership qualities of our Moran and Beatitude. These IOC-ians speak
filthy comments, which is a sugarcoated lie, and the entire IOC laity is misled
by their words. All these foul languages are heard only in their own gatherings,
like Holy Qurbana, and during other sacraments they perform. But while in public
they all speak as a true christian, and advise others to follow the Christ and
His teachings like "love your enemy" & "do not snatch anything from others" etc.
They have shown to the world that they are the ones who are exempted from
practicing all these teachings. It is pity their they do not apply the basic
humanness in their own church matter. How can they escape from the wrath of
God??

They proudly announce that their association meeting is the largest assembly of
a democratic way of governance. The way they conducted the recent association
meetings and the elections were a mockery of democracy. They proclaim that the
election for any metropolitan is the best and purest way of selection; but the
hidden fact is that before the election stunt there is a secret election by
their (un)holy synod, and then pass it on to the managing committee to pass the
list for approval. What is happening there is a mystery? In an interaction with
a managing committee member, I understood that even their Holy Bawa himself
warned the managing committee members not to speak in favour of an unfavourable
candidate of the (un)holy synod. Then how can they claim their democratic
process of election is the best choice. They have made the Holy Church into a
better example of mockery of the age old system and tradition. Their church is
not governed as per the ancient system, but by a handful of tugs and cronies,
wearing red-robes and blade-mafia. They show the democracy and self-rule as
carrot to lead the poor as per their wishes. How can we expect good out of these
people? They buy politicians, bureacrates, judiciary, press and lawyers to
manipulate the truth. They even purchase the opportunists among us, and thus
succeed in snatching some churches. The struggle will not find any solution in
any near future.

The forefathers of the faithfuls in southern dioceses were more intelligent and
came out and started new congregations and thus there is a peaceful co-existence
among the IOC and JSC. But the scenario in northern dioceses are really painful.
The culprits are the two metrans and few priests who crossed over to IOC, and we
have to expose them to the public. Hope one day we will succeed in it and peace
will be restored in all our churches.

Regards,
Varughese

Jacobite leaders missed reading the Fine print. But KAUMUDI put it rightly!

http://news.keralakaumudi.com/news.php?nid=125f2e8146025600beeea6fdbf843ed2

Are our MLAs cutting off the BRANCH they sitting on?For politicians these are
THE golden oppertunities to WIN BACK hearts of millions of Jacobites. They must
do rethinking and evaluate like those-for whom Puthupally,Kottayam Assembly are
important for survival. No one should blame these leaders for ignoring majority
sentiments next election.FAITH related matters remain in one's memory for
long!So Strange that it is PIRAVOM that made Govt survival possible and the same
PIRAVOM now getting punished! If they did not call it off, From May
9th-12th,expect Piravom turned into a Garrison Town
with 1500+ strong battalions.

For Piravom Cathedral,Piravom leadership has done everything possible. Those
against our FAITH accepted a 'pathetic offer' to do 'Qurbana' standing at some
place on the way to 'Piravom Church'.Its a Win for us.By accepting 'Qurbana'
demand - we uphold Christian Values and they accepted Piravom Church as a
Jacobite Church! Another 'legal' document that strengthen Piravom Church and its
bonding with Jacobite Sabha. As messaged by Sabu,If AG took an approach against
us,nothing more need to be done! Lets think ahead and get good SC/HC lawyers to
argue Piravom's 1934 HC case.If our leadership want to give an answer to
Piravom,there are many!
Illegal occupation of one's property is NOT a CRIMINAL Case -
http://malankarasyriacvoice.com/pdf/Manoothy_Deed.pdf
Hurting sentiments with such a recorded speech is NOT CIVIL either.

and check out MOST recent one: http://www.kcpcmf.in/Notification.php

Now things are getting clear. We are getting trapped. We are getting
into 'ACCEPTENCE' mode. The TARGET is -> Kothamangalam Church.
Its a Million Dollar Raffle. SC will take the case soon.
The importance of Piravom now evident. We have set a precedence!!!
Our failure is that we still play in our compound and does not ask
the mediation cell for ANYTHING!

Please read this:

Now compare it with :
http://www.koonankurishu.com/Location.aspx & http://oic.org.in/location.html

How many of us,Churches,Vicars,Trustees,Metropolitans supported this?
No body seems to be concerned about getting this project done and
everyone 'tactically' ignores the significance and happiness it can give to
millions of Jacobites.Niranam diocese is such a small diocese with little
resources. They can not do it alone.I don't believe in rumors about some inside
us are opposing Parumala Project? To this beleiver the Best WAY to instill
good'energy' into lakhs of Jacobite beleivers is to 'Get our Parumala Dream a
reality!'Power politics will beat us down. It is time to handle it unitedly.

Hope Trustees of Piravom,Paravoor,Manarcadu,Manajanikkara and Kothamangalam
Church will sponsor its construction.Hope institutions and eminent people from
our Sabha support it.Pray that all metropolitans take Parumala Church as their
dream. For sure - youth association will support and make the Youth presence felt
there.

If not :
- Leadership,SPECIALLY Metropolitans -must know youngsters will
loose hope. Our youngsters, working hard for Jacobite betterment
will get demoralized. There won't be any,to come and protect the
   church if their voice ignored.
- We all know, this Piravom CIRCUS is not for few hours of Qurbana!
Piravom is a 'notice' to Trustees/vicars to toe their lines else
Church get closed ? Metropolitans must study who will then
   get impacted?
- Now any Patriarchal decisions on Churches like Kandanadu,
   Kothamanagalam,Manarcadu,or Mulanthuruthy will get implemented
   smoothly? God Knows!
- All happened in Piravom - a Jacobite majority area. This can be a
case study to 'lure' or 'influence' Jacobite Priests to their camp!

Piravom Qurbana demand could have 'BARTERED' with our legitamate claim for a
Qurbana demand at Parumala,if we had made such a move!
If we continue playing in our homeground,Mannuthi will write more such scripts!A
level playing field need to be set.

But Mannuthi, must know GOD answers our prayers sooner and faster!
There is an urgent need to give our Young leaders a deserving place.
They must demand respectable positions in the Working committe and
things will change. We are sure that the upcoming committe elections and
formation will include many young faces and without much debate
HOLY SYNOD will support it ! Happy that our leadership reachable over phone!.But
its also true that many valuable suggestions from SOCM readers find direct route
to Trash bin.Our leadership doesn't look
well connected by E-Mail! This is at a time when the other side has got blogger
Bishops and their 'strategic' team analyzes our posts day in and out!

Hope Prayers will get answers,Peace will return to Holy Jacobite Sabha

Respected Chevalier,

It may please be noted that none of the issues in O. S. 6/85 which is the
representative suit pertaining to St.Mary's Jacobite Syrian church Piravom has
been resolved by mediation. The mode of implementation of the unilateral
decision of the District Collector Ernakulam alone has been decided by the
mediation process. The supremacy of the parish assembly in decicing on temporal
matters is corroborated by the agreement arrived at. How can it be termed as
illegal?

Thanking you

Today with Jesus

“For you have been a defence for the helpless, a defence for the needy in his
distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat.” (Isaiah 25:4)

Safe delivery of a baby boy clears all fears of helplessness of a young couple
from Kerala in UK.

Jesus never abandons his children in any of their life struggles. He is their
all-weather friend. When we feel He is far away, he is actually near us. When we
are fear-stricken, he comes as a fortress. When we are in distress, he descends
as a loving mother. This does not mean that we have to be inactive and waiting
for His time and will, but be active in prayer and search of the goal. God
helps those who help themselves. When we are looking for a job, it is unlikely
that God will bring employers to come looking for you. That may be a miracle, a
chance. But we should do the search. ”For everyone who asks receives; he who
seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened” (Mathew 7:8). So,
let us put all our burdens of life, big or small on Him.

Darin and Eva, a newly wedded couple landed in UK for higher studies and to
work. In the meantime, she also got pregnant. Studies, job and pregnancy
consumed all her energy and strength. With no friends to help, new surroundings
and different lifestyle to reckon with, she was overwhelmed and did not know how
to handle the situation. She did not deliver the baby around the due date and
they both became very anxious. After a few days, due to some emergency
complications, she had to be admitted in the hospital. Darin took the day off to
be with Eva when she developed the pains. Without any serious problems, she
had a normal delivery and was blessed with a baby boy. The relative who has
connected with the couple says, “It is really a miracle.” Eva speaks, “The
dictum of ‘it is really God who helps those who do not have any one to help’ Is
true indeed.”

Prayer: Jesus, let us not be scared of the challenges in our lives. Let all
expectant women be comforted with a safe delivery and be blessed with healthy
and happy babies. Let all the young couples who are away from their parents’
care be comforted by you. We pray for Darin, Eve and their new born baby, and
for all the new-borns and their parents in far away countries. We pray for all
those who help others in times of need. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Dear Friends in Christ,

A close examination of the Prayer that our Lord Jesus Christ taught us - the
Lord's Prayer - reveals a step by step degeneration from absolute purity to evil

- Addressing our Father in Heaven and hallowing His Name in all purity

- Requesting God to exercise the administration of His Heavenly Kingdom : a step
down - that is on Earth (transition of Lord's Prayer from Heaven to Earth)

- Praying that only His Will be done not just in Heaven, but also on Earth,
because here is where we earthlings have the freedom to exercise a choice to do
His Will or not to do His Will (at this juncture it is the completion of
transition of Prayer from Heaven to Earth)

- Asking for our daily needs on Earth (Earthly requirements and request for
fulfillment)

- Begging for forgiveness conditionally for sins committed - the first step into
sin

- Request to save from temptation by the evil one - another step towards
deterioration

- A final plea to deliver from the evil one - the step that follows temptation
which could drive us into the hands of the evil one and we are crying out that
we be rescued.

Having reached this level which is furthest from purity, and in the manner that
Christ Himself taught us, why do we add the doxology, not in the original Bible,
which takes the Prayer back to its purer levels : For Thine is the Kingdom, the
Power and the Glory, for ever and ever.

Warm regards

Dear Friends,

The saga of Piravom Church being converted to a Cathedral is coming to a close.

One is left to wonder as to what purpose is achieved by this sort of declaration
being done outside the Church.

High Religious dignitaries of both the Sabha are not able to enter inside the
Piravom Church and conduct Holy Qurbana from its Altar.

Even after 12th of May/2012, the Piravom Church building will continue to be of
the same shape and size.

However, to bring out the truth relating to the affairs,I would like to say the
following,viz;

" [i] There was a Suit, O.S No 15/1977, instituted by the Catholicos faction
basically to declare that the Piravom Church to be administered by the
provisions of the 1934, Constitution of malankara orthodox church. In 1980-1981,
there was Court direction to conduct election of managing committee and trustees
through an Advocate Commissioner without following the provisions of any
Constitution. This was carried out. Committee members and trustees elected were
directed to continue as Receivers of the Court,

[ii] Needless to say that all committee members and trustees were from the
Patriarch Faction. Point to be noted is that it was a court held election
without following any disputed Constitution. The records of this election is in
Court and it is public record. The number of voters identifying with both
factions is clear friom the said record,

[iii] After the judgement of Supreme Court in 1995, the Orthodox Faction
withdrew from O S No 15 of 1977.They also wanted the court elected committee
members to hand over possession to those who were in management on the date of
the said suit.

[iv] The above stand of the Orthodox Faction ultimately resulted in the
Judgement of the Division Bench of the High Court of Kerala reported in AIR 1998
KERALA 237.The Division Bench directed Conduct of elections of fresh Committee
members and trustees of Piravom Church by following the provisions of the 1934,
Constitution through COMMISSIONERS.

[V] There was a direction that each voter of the Parish Assembly of the Piravom
Church should swear allegiance to the 1934, Constitution in the form of an
affidavit presented to the Commissioners. The reasoning of the Division Bench was
that each Voter of the Parish Assembly is holding an "office" in the Malankara
Church and is ,therefore, bound by the directions contained in the Apex Court
order reported in AIR 1997 SC 1035,

[VI] The Apex Court had directed that each office bearer appointed by the rival
factions after 1.1.1971 should swear allegiance to 1934, Constitution subject to
which status quo was directed to be maintained till a fair election of the
Managing Committee of the Malankara Association is held,

[vii] A "Voter" of the Parish Assembly is not appointed by anyone. He gets his
rights as a voter by virtue of the fact that he/she is a member of the Church. It
is an integral part of the democracy which is recognised as a basic tenent of
the Church by the Supreme Court of INDIA. THE DIRECTION TO THE VOTER TO SWEAR
ALLEGIANCE TO 1934, CONSTITUTION IS FUNDAMENDALLY WRONG AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN
CHALLENGED,

[viii] The " Legal Cell" of the Piravom Church in their wisdom did not challenge
it. They forced each voter of Piravom Church to affix Signatures in affidavits
swearing allegiance to the 1934, Constitution. Accordingly fresh elections were
held through Court and the trusttees and committee members took charge of
Piravom Pally. It was repeated in subsequent years also. The present trustees
and committee members are obviously elected by following this procedure through
Court,

[ix] In other words, the trustees and committee members of Piravom Church are
holding office on the basis of interim directions passed by the Court[ Special
Court for Church Cases and confirmed by the HIGH COURT OF KERALA. THEY ARE ALL
BOUND BY THE DIVISION BENCH RULING MENTIONED ABOVE WITH RESPECT TO PIRAVOM
CHURCH.

[xi] There is now a Suit, O.S No 6 of 1985= under consideration by the Special
Court for Church Cases [Additional District Court, Ernakulam]. The prayer
therein is that there should be a Declaration that the Piravom Church should
be administered by the 1934, Constitution. Trial has started. It is at an
advanced stage.

This is the time for those in charge of the affairs of this ancient Jacobite
Church to carefully apply their mind as to what exactly is their defence in this
Suit.Did they have a discussion with the Jacobite Church Legal Cell under His
Beatitude as to whether their contentions are legally and factually tenable at
this stage? Heve they read the Judgement by the Special Court for Church Cases
[Additional District Court, Ernakulam] in the Kolencherry Church case?

Hope that you will do it so that the Piravom Church will not be trapped by the
Orthodox Faction through judicial process.

MISTAKES COMMITTED ARE THE FOLLOWING,VIZ;

[A] Not challenging the illegal direction that each voter of the Parish Assembly
is holding an office in the Malankara Church and that they should swear
allegiance to the 1934, Constituition of the Malankara Church to qualify as a
Voter,

[B] Not challenging the order of the District Collector immediately. Waiting for
our function to be over and then challenging it was a mistake.

It is hoped that our emotional brothers at Piravom Church will not repeat the
above mistakes. Ignore vested interests with bloated ego at work. Contact Church
Secretary and Bva and get your matter discussed and considered at Sabha level.
Kolencherry people did not do it when their suit was considered by the Special
Court for Church Cases [Additional District Court, Ernakulam]. They lost the
case.Rest is history.
                                                                            With
Prayers,

The news regarding the agreement with IO church allowing them to declare OUR
Piravom church as a Cathedral is very painful.

There are Christian communities struggling to survive from assaults from
non-Christians. But there may not be any church like ours in this world, which
has to survive against the arrogance and greed of our own brothers.

It is a shameful display of the IO church leadership's deceit and meanness, to
declare our Pirvavom church without supporters sufficient to fill its corridor,
as a Cathedral. Is their intended 7-alter Qurbana to glorify God or some kind of
a demonstration.

It will be a surprise if this issue ends with the declaration. Their malicious
and wicked intentions will start rolling out soon.

If they need a church to worship, they have a catholicate centre big enough for
them.

How many of them, including their forefathers, have contributed with money or
efforts to build these churches? The only basis for their claim is that someone
from these churches, have attended their association meeting. We have seen our
members mention instances of unauthorized persons from our churches like S.Parur
church attending it, with a letter from the betrayer Bishop Athanasius who
himself can never go anywhere near it.

His friend bishop Militios contemptuously refers to our church as Jacobite
society church in his messages, forgetting that he was ordained by this society
church, and his present associates didn't see the need to ordain him again
properly after their association's democratic procedures as per their
constitution.

If there was any goodness in them, we would have settled these issues long ago,
and concentrated on issues for which the church is meant for. When we cannot
agree to be together, it is better to part gracefully. The Group with fewer
members can claim compensation from the majority to build a church for worship
and exist as sister Churches. If we prosper spiritually and goodness returns,
our future generations may see reasons to unite as one church.

We, unfortunately, do not have the luxury of dealing with people with decency
and fairness. How can anyone negotiate with such a wretched and dishonest
people? They are getting more ambitious and vicious. They feel comfortable
enough to destroy the peace where they are in a minority, assisted by the
present political leadership in Kerala.

The IO church is able to hurt our church with the help of the bishops and some
priests who were with us and who have betrayed our church and its people. For
their personal survival they tend to out beat the originals in inflicting so
much suffering to our people and still live among us. In spite of their quoting
the constitution, history and whatever that suits them, it is greed, arrogance
and dishonesty that drive them. Negotiations will never work with those who keep
repeating ... subject to acceptance of 1934.....ť which is a treasure to
exercise their manipulating skills with their inherent dishonesty and
cunningness. They will never understand and appreciate fairness.

It is time to be more aggressive to protect our churches. Our efforts must be
better co-ordinated. Enlist the support for all willing members from all our
churches in Kerala. We must be able to have a mechanism to identify, and act
swiftly and decisively with the help of resourceful members and friends of our
church. We must stop them from even dreaming to capture churches built by
somebody else's sweat. The people who live amongst us and collude with the
church capturers must think of how they will live there after trying to capture
our properties.

Make our church much more cohesive. Activate Prayer groups in all parishes, and
organize joint prayer meetings periodically. Our church must grow spiritually
and our fellowship must grow stronger. Resolve disputes amongt us. Have a system
to review and correct mistakes in managing the affairs of our church, with
representation of lay members of our church wherever prudent, so that complaints
and grievances are resolved soon, so that our church and its institutions are
free of frustration.

When our members and parishes are united, our opinion matters to authorities.

Encourage everyone we know to contribute to the best of their ability and make
themselves available for the church as much as possible, in these days when the
very survival of our church is threatened, and must pray for our bishops,
priests and other servants of our church and our shresta Catholica bawa who is
lead by Lord Jesus.
May God bless our church.

=====================

One of the themes of Malankara World is, 'God uses ordinary people to do
extraordinary things.' During my recent trip to Kerala, I had an
opportunity to experience this first hand on different occasions. We
will cover a few of these in the future editions of the MW
Journal-people making a difference in this world. This week, I would
like to introduce the tremendous work done by a few women in a small
church in Kottayam diocese that bagged them title of the best Morth
Mariam Vanitha Samajam unit in the Kottayam diocese beating many larger churches
in the diocese in the process. Not only they beat other churches, they have done
it convincingly. They have raised twice the money for social ministry than the
second place church!! Isn't that remarkable? St. Mary's Jacobite Church, East
Pampady was honored as having the best Vanitha Samajam Unit in Kottayam Diocese
at the annual Vanitha Samajam meeting held at St. Adai's Church in Nalunnakkal,
Vakathanam on April 13. We extend our congratulations to all the women in the
unit for this tremendous accomplishment.

It is interesting to examine what these women did to covet this honor.
In addition to the piggy bank placed in all members' home for collection of
small change [a modern version of the 'pidi ari collection' (handful of rice for
the church)], they started looking into more beneficial projects. One such
project that was identified was to hand-stitch the head-covering for bishops.
They talked to several bishops to learn the requirements for the head-covering.
Then they went and talked to several established commercial enterprises that
make the official vestments for our church. They have practiced making the head
covering till they perfected it. The women then went and talked to the store at
Patriarchal center in Puthencruz to find a sales outlet for their products. Then
they went into production. Their products were an instant hit with our bishops.
Right now they have a big backlog of orders. The best part of this project is
that not only the Vanitha Samajam makes a small profit that is then used for
other projects, they employ poor women in the church for the manufacture. The
women are paid wages. For many women this is a god-send. It is an example of a
project that has multiple impact.

One of the active members in the Vanitha Samajam is a woman named Beena. Beena
is a very hard working woman struggling to raise a family. The members
recognized the need for a house for Beena. With the help of the church, at
large, they embarked on a fund raising program to build a house for Beena. They
also sought donations of building materials from contractors and other
businesses. Last year, they built a beautiful home for Beena. You can see the
photo of the home on our cover.

Vanitha Samajam also inspired others in the church to get into action.
The youth group this year is working on building a library at church.
They are also collecting donations to buy school supplies, books and
uniform for poor students. Suddenly the church has been transformed into
a place where the members look for opportunities to be of service. The
commandment of Jesus 'Love one another' and 'Serve Unconditionally'
found practical application in the church. You can feel the enthusiasm
in the air when you go to the church. You can see the light of Jesus
reflected in their faces.

If we can have all our churches perform to this level, can you imagine
what will be the end result? Again we bow our heads to these
enterprising women in St. Mary's Jacobite Church in East Pampady for
demonstrating that God makes ordinary people do extraordinary work.

We also want to convey our condolences to Rev. Fr. Jose Daniel Paitel
(Philadelphia, PA) and Chev. Daniel Biju Daniel (Middle East) and their families
for the passing away of their mother. Both achen and Chev. Biju had been early
supporters of Malankara World and long term friends. It is hard to console
someone when they are grieving for their loved one.

We pray for the departed and hope that she will deserve her place in
eternity with Jesus.

7. When God Hides You

God's children rarely seek to be hidden. However, it is in the hidden
moments that men and women of faith are drawn closer to God and prepared for

ministry. Esther spent a considerable amount of time being prepared to
be presented to the king. Paul spent three silent years in northern
Arabia before he launched his ministry. ...

8. Where is God in Hard Times?

Throughout the history of our faith, the question has often been asked, "Where

CHRIST IS RISEN! TRULY HE IS RISEN!

"The good workman with assurance receives the bread of his labor; the slack and
slothful cannot look his employer full in the face. It is our duty, therefore,
to be prompt to do good; for on Him depends everything. Indeed, He says to us by
way of warning: 'Here comes the Lord, and with Him comes the award He makes, to
pay each one according to his work.' He urges us on, therefore, to trust in Him
with all our heart and not to be slack and indolent in any good work. Let Him be
our boast and the ground of our confidence; let us be subject to His will; let
us consider the vast multitude of His angels, and see how they stand in
readiness to minister to His will."

Today with Jesus

“1 Corinthians 6:12 “All things are lawful for me, ‘but not all things are
helpful,’ All things are lawful for me, but will not be enslaved by anything.”

Let us not succumb to materialistic things in this world.

We are primarily responsible for our lives, not the environment or others. If we
fail, we only have to blame ourselves and not anybody else or other factors. The
pro-active person acts with the spirit of Jesus that strengthens the weak,
resurrects the dead, heals the sick, improves circumstances, washes away our
sins and breaks the wall of separation from God. The reactive person is not like
that. They blame even their shadow for their failures with the evil spirit of
sins. So let our words, actions, thoughts and presence inspire others to become
better. We should not be slaves to the material world or the world of darkness.

Elias in his 50’s and well educated, landed in Canada with millions of stars in
his eyes but could not find a job as per his wish or education and experience.
He then applied and got for a contract job as a newspaper carrier. Immaterial of
the season - fall, winter, spring or summer, he goes about his work with a
positive smiling face even though he is still haunted by the nostalgia of his
good old days in India. Instead of blaming fate, the weather and circumstances,
he counts his blessings that he is able to do at least this job. Instead of
complaining, he sees the positive side of this job – like enjoying nature and
admiring people’s gardens, winter’s beauty of snow and icicles, the million
dollar welcoming smiles of children and people etc. He also has the benefits of
walking for 2 hours three times a week to have a healthy body.

Prayer: Jesus, let your spirit of creation and blessings abide in us. Let us
have the mind to take responsibilities of our failures and correct it and look
at you for our pro-active mind-set of positivity. Let us find the good of
anything and everything and shun the darkness with your light. We pray for
those who are struggling to settle down in a new place, finding a job and new
friends. Let people get jobs and satisfaction as per their education and
experience. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

READ: Genesis 1:1-23

Let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.
Genesis 1:20

On September 29, 1909, a young man took flight in a strange contraption that
resembled a huge box kite. As he gained altitude, the pilot manipulated the
levers so he could fly over New York Harbor. People looked up in amazement. In
the harbor, boats celebrated by sounding their steam whistles. Crowds near the
Statue of Liberty exploded with cheers at the sight of Wilbur Wright taking a
flight into the heavens.

Wilbur’s brother Orville, who had piloted the first airplane flight 6 years
earlier, reflected on their inspiration to fly: “The desire to fly is an idea
handed down to us by our ancestors who . . . looked enviously on the birds
soaring freely through space, at full speed, above all obstacles, on the
infinite highway of the air.” The Wright brothers spent a great deal of time
studying birds in flight before designing their planes.

In Genesis we read that “in the beginning God created the heavens and the
earth” (1:1), and He said, “Let birds fly above the earth across the face of
the firmament of the heavens” (v.20). We applaud the inventiveness of the
Wright brothers. Yet, the Creator, who made creatures capable of flight in the
first place, deserves the ultimate glory—for the birds and for every other
creation He has made! —Dennis Fisher

Field and forest, vale and mountain,
Flow’ry meadow, flashing sea,
Soaring bird and flowing fountain
Call us to rejoice in Thee. —van Dyke

The design of creation points to the Master Designer.

Dear All,

I had seen lot of members expressing their view to file cases against
IOC in their parishes where jacobite faithfuls are minority in order
to counter attack their acting of giving cases against jacobite
parishes. It is a true fact that they are playing the game putting the
ball in our court, whatever happens win or lose, they are making  gain
out of them. So filing cases against some orthodox parishes where
there is jacobite faithful presence will help to put the ball in their
court also .

But I personally disagree to this view as it is against Christian
values. More over we know the pain and sufferings of court cases. Why
we make innocent orthodox faithful to be suffered for their leadership
action's. Then there will be no difference between orthodox and a
jacobite. we don't forget the fact that a huge majority of general
orthodox faithful have respect on our church  and they know that they
are actually a part of universal Syrian orthodox church where their
spiritual father is Patriarch of Antioch. In fact they are very much
disturbed with the  recent happenings in their church like
manipulations in their association election, blade people governing
their church, destroying the church name in front of public by
entering into politics and public street protest for cases against
jacobite churches and about the last trend of giving birth of new
churches from IOC. We see that two new churches has been generated
from IOC named Bharathiya orthodox church and Malankara Nazrani
orthodox church. Lot of priests and Faithfuls left IOC and joined new
church. We can see some eight to ten IOC priests attending a Holy mass
by the new bishop of the new church ( BOC ) in the photos uploaded in
Face book. In their own news paper, Malayala Manorama we see that even
a new catholica bava ( MNOC ) has been ordained from IOC. If the
result of their priest trustee election was different, then by this
time we should see another church formed in North from IOC. In future
we can see more churches generated from IOC. The symptoms started in
places like amayannur, mavelikara, kottarakara, Kollam etc. Even we
see one of the big parish of IOC with 250 + families at vennikulam
have conducted holy mass with the new  bishop from the new church. So
now they started earning for what they done in past and still
continuing. For selfishness they get separated from Syrian orthodox
church in past and at that time they never think that in future this
may lead for generating new churches from them in each districts.
People who read the last two or three editions of their magazine "
Malankara Dheepam " can see lot of priests and faithfuls expressing
their anger and frustrations with regard to the election of priest
trustee. Soon we can observe the outcome of this.

So in this scenario, it is not good to follow the same thing  they had
done towards our church by giving court cases against them. This will
only help to provoke them which will lead to violence and the goodwill
our church will get affected. Instead of that we should start taking
steps to make innocent orthodox faithful attracted towards our
church. This won't be never through offering money or positions like
how they did. We should only welcome those faithfuls and priests who
want to be proud on becoming a member of a universal church with great
tradition and history ( Its not like, in one morning simply telling
that this is 1960th birthday of church ) There are lot of jacobite
faithfulls left as members of orthodox churches in the southern part
of kerala. ( For example in Kayamkulam kadheesha church, Puthuppally
church, Omalloor orthodox church, Thiruvalla kattappuram church,
Kottarakara church etc ). Till now our church have not taken any
steps to support them. So now we have to take steps to bring them back
to our church. we should identify such areas and try to include them
in nearby jacobite churches or to take initiative to start new
parishes if needed. Initially there should be obstacles and we can't
expect all the said faithfuls joining back our church in a single call
but i am sure good follow up will give better results and what ever we
are gaining is a win for us.

I humbly request our leadership to have a call of all bishops, priests
& committee members of all spiritual organizations from southern part
of kerala including central kerala to collect data and information's
on this subject and later have to action for getting things done. When
they started realizing that they are loosing faithfuls from their
parishes then this will help to minimize the strength of there
satanic acting's in our parishes in north. May be this will become an
eye opener to lot of other orthodox faithfuls for their non christian
behavior.

My parish is in south and there are few orthodox parishes in and
around my parish out of which our nearby two orthodox parish have some
jacobite families as its members. In one parish there is around 15
families and in other one there is around 30 families. Our parish had
taken the initiative to have discussion with these families and to
make them join our parish under B class membership.Several round of
discussion already over and at last 20 families are ready to join our
parish. We are in process of preparing legal documents in order to
take sign from them on account that later they won't create any issues
in our parish. In order to keep the confidentiality I am not
disclosing the name of our parish. But we were wondering if each
parish of our church in central kerala and south kerala should take
this initiative then what will be the result. there will be
difficulties and obstacles in this project but the result will make us
to rejoice. Even in this mission initially we got resistance from our
own family members in our parish but slowly we were able to convince
them and at last when result came they also become more active on
this. Even we are planning to make monthly membership free for newly
come poor families and to construct a common cell in cemetery for them
freely. These mentioned family members  stood in orthodox parishes at
the time of split that happens in 1970's. We asked these family
members, why they didn't join the nearby jacobite parishes or
construct new parish. We got different answers out which i am
mentioning  some of their replies below.

a)  At that time Our church doesn't have a administrative set up to
support them
b) They don't have enough money to establish a new parish
c)  Issues lied between different families doesn't allow them to join
nearby jacobite parishes
d) The strength of orthodox in southern part allow the orthodox people
to dominate them.
e) Seeking peace they didn't go for any protests

So i strongly believe this as a better way to give a reply to IOC for
their false preachings and acting's. IOC way have more professors and
millionaires than us, they may have some more number of parishes,
cathedrals, priests, dioceses and bishops than us, they may have more
institutions and medias than us, they may have more political
influence and muscle power than us. But in two areas they are very
below to us , In faith and in number of faithful's. We have 1 church
with 3000+ families where they didn't have a single one, we have 3
churches with more than 2000+ families where they didn't have anything
, we have more than 10 churches with 1000+ families where they have
only two. Their big church puthuppally parish is only having a
strength of 600 families only out of which around 150 families are
jacobite faithful's currently. Apart from thisMore than 125 jacobite
families already get separated few years back and build a new parish
in front of puthuppally parish. This is number excluding We have
several old churches which is more than 1000 years old where that have
only very few, that also forcefully taken away from us. More than this
we have our Holy father jesus christ, our spiritual leader Moran and
our aboon with us.

So be proud of our church and joint hands together to protect our
faith and to ensure that even a single faithful ( our strength )
shouldn't left our church. I humbly request your views and concerns on
this matter and also request if anybody who is in touch with our
leadership should seriously discuss this matter with our leadership
and do the needfull to get this mission on action.

Moreover, this is a cashless effort, only required is action from
everyone. Thank god for not having big corporates and blade mafias as
members of our church otherwise by this time we will also become a
professionally originated & managed church like IOC where they give
value only for wealth and money.

Dear all,
The series of postings on Piravom church by Chev.P.J.Philip has been very
informative. It reflects his in depth knowledge of the local issues and his
understanding of the nuances of legal matters. However, there are a few
disturbing issues. There seems to be a lack of coordination between the concerned
parish and the central church leadership. The people seem to wake up only when a
crisis occurs. The parish legal team apparently keeps the central church legal
team at arm's length! What a pitiable state of affairs! It is even more
disheartening to note that a similar pattern was followed in Kolencherry. Are we
working for SOC or are we working at cross purpose, bothered about only our egos.

We seem to have forgotten past legal lapses again- not getting the court to stay
the ordination on Mor Ivanios Murimattam as Catholica in 1912, not sending
notice to all parish churches for the Karingachira association of 1935, not
forming an association with a constitution in 1970(the public effort in 1980s
was stayed by HC, see the IOC move). There seem to have been a concerted legal
effort at the central church leadership level since 1998-99 which has paid
dividends as one can see from 2002. However the individual parishes need to
sincerely cooperate with them.

The 1995 SC verdict is very favourable to individual parishes, IOC will be on
the backfoot on this, the rights of the parish churches should not be frittered
away.

Ultimately as Chev.Philip mentioned, the court ruling will prevail in a
democracy, no politician and/or his administrative/police wing can run a writ to
the contrary in the long term.

Prayers,
Varghese Abraham

Christ is Risen! + Truly He is Risen!

It was necessary to allow evil to cry aloud so that, soon after, it would become
speechless before the miraculous resurrection. It was necessary that all the
wicked deeds of men against God be manifested so that they would be able to see
and appraise the love and mercy of God toward mankind. The angels of God were
not sent to defend Christ from the Jews; rather, the angels of God were sent,
after three days, to announce the holy resurrection of Christ.

Today with Jesus

“By his wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5)

Missing boy saves countless children!

If we contemplate failures, miseries, tragedies and even death, we realize
they ultimately bear fruit to benefit in some way or the other. It is definitely
painful but there is a master plan of God for everything for the better. We
should not be mere spectators in front of failures and tears. Wherever there are
tears, we should be the apostles of comfort and work out ways so that it does
not happen again. Then we can alleviate most of the sorrows and tears from our
homes, churches and societies at large. The death and inflicted bruises on the
body of God almighty, ‘JESUS’ ultimately brought healings and peace on all his
creations. When we contemplate on His wounds in our sickness , failures and
troubles, it will bring healings, peace and comfort. “But he was pierced for our
transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought
us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed - “(Isaiah 53:5}. “It
would be good for one man died for the people.” - Caiaphas, the high priest -
(John 18:14)

ETAN PATZ, missing since Friday May 25th, 1979, in New York, USA, was born on
October 9th, 1972 - 6 years, Male, white, height 40 inches, weight 50 lbs, blond
hair, blue eyes, wearing black pilot cap blue pants. Anyone having any
information are requested to call (212) 374-6913. Still, ETAN is a mystery -
where is he? And if he was killed, where is his body and who is the culprit? It
was the first day he had walked two blocks to the school bus stop by himself.
Etan had begged his parents to let him go alone and they relented. After that,
his family never saw him again. Still waiting, they live in the same So Ho loft
and have the same telephone number. Etan had been declared dead in 2001, but
his body was never found. In April 2012, the FBI pulled apart a basement near
his home looking for evidence, but did not find any.

In the decades since Etan’s disappearance, helpful measures have been
implemented, such as the Amber Alert, a system for quickly broadcasting news of
abductions, and Megan’s law, a public registry of sex offenders. Wal-Mart
missing children boards - found in every store, have recovered 324 children.
Recovery rates have improved enormously, jumping from 62% in 1990 to 97% in
2011. Since 1984, the NCMEC has helped find more than 169,000 children. There
are still lots of children missing, but there is no question that Etan has saved
countless children.

Prayer: Jesus, save all our missing children. We pray for all the parents and
relatives whose children have gone missing. Let the sex offenders and abductors
be put to justice and may they be convinced of their heinous crimes. We pray
for all the people and agencies who put in efforts untiringly to find the
missing children. All we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

READ: Philippians 4:1-9

Be anxious for nothing. —Philippians 4:6

A few years ago, our Bible-study leader challenged us to memorize a chapter of
the Bible and recite it to the group. Internally, I began to protest and groan.
An entire chapter, in front of everyone? Memorization had never been my thing; I
cringed as I imagined long silences while everyone watched me, waiting for the
next words.

A few days later, I reluctantly leafed through my Bible, looking for a set of
verses to learn by heart. Nothing seemed right until I landed in Philippians 4.

I read this verse in silence, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by
prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to
God” (v.6). That’s when I knew which chapter to memorize, and how to walk
away from my anxiety about the assignment.

God does not want us to agonize over future events, because worry paralyzes our
prayer life. The apostle Paul reminds us that instead of fretting, we should ask
God for help. When we continually take this approach to anxiety, God’s peace
will guard our hearts and minds (v.7).

Someone once said tongue-in-cheek, “Why pray when you can worry?” The point
is clear: Worry gets us nowhere, but prayer gets us in touch with the One who
can handle all of our concerns. —Jennifer Benson Schuldt

When you feel the tension mounting,
And across the busy day,
Only gloomy clouds are drifting
As you start to worry—pray! —Anon.

It’s impossible to wring our hands when they are folded before God in prayer.

Dear all

We should appreciate what Mr Abraham brought out the suffering of the
Jacobite faithful in the southern part of Kerala and their sincere effort to
bring back the faithful to true belief and real church. WE must start more
churches nearby almost every orthodox church, initially with setting up new
prayer meeting then the patriarchal Centre similar like Catholoc centre of the
IOC in the north and then the full church. Now our church is fully organised,
have enough finanacial strength to support these Jacobite faithful people.
Church leadership should have a focussed and serious thinking about this matter.

Dear All.

I have read the message of Mr.T.C.Abraham, intention of the message is very
clear and that is in line with the principal of Christianity.

Root cause of the problem in my perception.

1.Freedom in India : We forget that our country accepted all religion and it
allowed it to grow. Now we exploit the situation in its full length. If we
analyse the situation in Syria , Iraq, etc…what is happening..Christians are
struggling because of the law’s of that country along with extremism.

2.Conveniently forget Jesus Christ’s Verses : Especially Jacobits / Orthodox
faithful, by mistake thinking to continue focus on controversies of the court
cases and to die without attaining what Jesus Christ advised.( Remember 10
virigin story ) we may miss the chance to have “Holy Spirit” in us before our
death.

3. Money/Power : If we dig the problem in the beginning, then you would see
money is one of the main culprit (including Vattippanam (interest) etc ). Let
us think what is the connection between money and spirituality.?. God is ready
to give Holy Spirit freely ( cannot buy with money). Again , 2 of our Bishops
Jumped to IOC cleverly not because of any drain in spirituality in our church ,
they jumped with the Property of our church for to snatch something else. ( this
part you all can analyze). Is it spirituality they want to attain ?.

4.Owner ship of Church property : We have to have a clear instruction in the
matter that the church property should not be in any individual name ( property
of church is actually originated from normal laymen’s coins). If it is in any
individual name , again we may loose it on individual decisions ( This part is
difficult , people who touch on this would be like touching in fire) . If we
attain this by keeping the property in the Church’s name under prevailing law(
let the legal cell to decide), then we can ensure that Jumping chance will
reduce to nil.

5. Best Option : Now we are in a loop like situation where we caught up in 1000
legs octopus(court cases) . 1 Generation is over with this problem ( started in
1800- 2012) and if we wait for next 5 generation ( 500 – 600 years) nothing will
happen. At last the question by Pilate will remain “WHAT IS TRUTH” . Pilate
doesn’t know that time that Jesus Christ was the Truth. Now we knew that Jesus
Christ is the Truth but still we are in the net of the Evil. God is always
merciful, let us pray , try to settle the problems of each church one by one
amicably ( Share and care) subsequently clear the court cases. Secondly, we may
have to create our own identity in all manners.( to avoid future confusions) .

6.Gospel, Every church have to have minimum 1 time “Dhyanam” in each month in
order to spread gospel so that all should learn the way of Christian life. (
Currently we will keep our forefinger on nose once we analyses liquor
consumption datas in Easter & Christmas). Please let us not crucify our Lord
and savior Jesus Christ again. He took all the sins for the dead , living and
those yet to born. It is our duty to show the world that we are reflecting the
love of Jesus Christ through our life.

All above were my own perceptions, it is up to the readers to decide.
Thanks

Benny

Subject: Indignation of the murder of T.P.Chandrasekhar of RMP In kerala
Rev. Fr. Paulose V V

“You must not Murder”(exodus 20:13)

I contempt the heinous, in human, cruel, and satanic murder of T.P.
Chandrasekhar of Revolutionary Marxist Party leader in Kerala on Friday 4 May
2012 by the hired goons in Kerala- the so-called ‘The God’s country’ by the
known people. ”.

I express my condolences and prayer to his family and friends.

I believe and think now our people’s heads are swayed and haunted by the
Satan, ‘the father of all murders.’ It all generates in the hearts of human
beings as the simple beginning of hatred and anger.

This kind of murder takes place day -to -day base indifferent parts of Kerala.
But that is not the news as the high profile people like party leaders, rich,
influential, and the top of religions

Jesus connects the murder” with anger with someone” (Mathew 5:22). So it is high
time to plug the bud of anger and its reasons before it blossoms in to blood
shed, mayhem, and murder. And it calls for the curse of God on our beautiful,
lovely God’s own country, homes, and people. And the wrath of God and the cry
of the souls of innocent’s victims make Kerala into a graveyard of the souls
with out finding rest and a desert of ’ Satan’s own country’

I fully believe the greatness of Kerala and its all beauty and fertility rooted
in the living Christ and his people and others who practice and live with moral
standings based in the bible with love towards all but malice towards none even
to the enemies.

Murder in forms, in any reasons, and at any circumstances is anathema and curse
to human beings.

Christian homes, churches and permuted denominations fighting with beastly hate
and anger for the material wealth, power, status, should stop fighting
immediately. Somebody should come and say, “ Stop fighting Barbarians” and down
the weapons of fight.” “How awful you will escape from the curse of God.”

Let it start from our church and the church leaders.
