This group was begun when a bunch of us "ship nuts" from the Liners List and CruiseTalk were preparing to do the "final" transatlantic crossing back in September 2001. Now we know that was not the last voyage of the SS NORWAY. We were looking for a place on-line to get together to discuss the trip, both pre- and post-crossing, and continued the discussions even after we all got home. We've tried to keep up with the latest news of the ship, even though it hasn't been positive. In fact, the ship - despite rumors to the contrary - has gone to the breakers in Asia and sadly, as an ocean liner, is no more
We would like to re-focus our discussions on some of the other, older classic ships still with us, albeit for maybe just a little while. Regal Empress is about to be scrapped. In her 50 + years there are plenty of people who sailed her as Olympia. Queen Anna Maria/Carnivale-Topaz also has many recent passengers too. The Oceanic is still holding on. Any other classic ships discussions be it memories, insights stories, or technical data are welcomed under our new and hopefully improved format. Please do continue to post comments and memories about the SS NORWAY/SS FRANCE, as she was the genesis for this group’s origins, and a beloved ship in many peoples’ memories.
