The western Virginia County of Franklin was formed in 1786
and by 1850 had a population of over 17,000. This database
is a collection of marriage bonds recorded by the county
between 1786 and 1858. Transcribed from the original
records, this collection reveals the names of both bride
and groom, along with the date of bond filing. In many
entries, the name of witness who was present at the bond
is also provided. With over 6500 records and about 16,000
individual names, this can be a helpful database for those
seeking western Virginian ancestors.
