* From Fjord to Floathouse: one family's journey from
the farmlands of Norway to the coast of British Columbia
(Book - Amazon.ca) :
From Fjord to Floathouse is the saga of hardy pioneers
living in snug floating homes and sustained by
surrounding sea and forest. Their chosen life meant
communication and transportation by water only, with
semi-weekly shipments of mail and staple supplies
(anything they could not shoot, catch, or pick). In
short time segments complete with quotes, photographs,
maps, recipes and family charts, readers are drawn into
a rural lifestyle that only few have experienced, or
even been aware existed.
This book may also be available from Amazon.com (United
States) and Amazon.co.uk (United Kingdom).

* In Sheep's Clothing (A Torie O'Shea Mystery)
(Book - Amazon.com) :
When genealogist Torie O'Shea gets an invitation from
her favorite aunt, Sissy, to come and spend some time
with her in Minnesota she jumps at the chance. When she
arrives, however, Torie finds out that the invitation
was not so innocent: Sissy has uncovered a 150-year-old
diary in the attic of her home and is dying to find out
who wrote it and where it came from. Torie dives in and
soon discovers that the author of the diary, a young
Swedish woman, had fallen in love with a man she
couldn't have. When the diary ends with hints of brutal
violence, Torie becomes enmeshed in a mystery passed
down through generations. Fans of Rett MacPherson's cozy
genealogy mysteries will delight in the inventive plot
and comfortable, warm characters that have come to
characterize this wonderful series.
This book is also available from Amazon.co.uk and
Amazon.ca.

* La Salle and the Discovery of the Great West
(Book - Amazon.com) :
On April 9, 1682, Robert Cavelier, Sieur de la Salle,
paddled into the Gulf of Mexico. He and a small band of
men in 3 canoes had become the first to navigate the
entire length of the Mississippi River. He claimed the
river and its enormous watershed for France and named it
after King Louis XIV. Five years later, while searching
for an overland route to the Mississippi, La Salle was
killed by mutinous members of his party. He had spent
nearly half of his 42 years in North America, enjoying
some triumphs and enduring many hardships.
