Occult
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The word occult comes from the Latin word occultus (clandestine,
hidden, secret), referring to "knowledge of the hidden".[1] In the
medical sense it is used to refer to a structure or process that is
hidden, e.g. an "occult bleed"[2] may be one detected indirectly by
the presence of otherwise unexplained anaemia.

The word has many uses in the English language, popularly meaning
"knowledge of the paranormal", as opposed to "knowledge of the
measurable",[3][4] usually referred to as science. The term is
sometimes popularly taken to mean "knowledge meant only for certain
people" or "knowledge that must be kept hidden", but for most
practicing occultists it is simply the study of a deeper spiritual
reality that extends beyond pure reason and the physical sciences.[5]
The terms esoteric and arcane can have a very similar meaning, and the
three terms are often interchangeable.[6][7]

The term occult is also used as a label given to a number of magical
organizations or orders, the teachings and practices taught by them,
and to a large body of current and historical literature and spiritual
philosophy related to this subject .
Occultism

Occultism is the study of occult or hidden wisdom. To the occultist it
is the study of "Truth", a deeper truth that exists beneath the
surface: 'The truth is always hidden in plain sight'. It can involve
such subjects as magic (alternatively spelled and defined as magick),
alchemy, extra-sensory perception, astrology, spiritualism,
lithomancy, and numerology. There is often a strong religious element
to these studies and beliefs, and many occultists profess adherence to
religions such as Gnosticism, Hermeticism, Luciferianism, Thelema, and
Neopaganism. While Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and
Islam are generally not considered occult, some of their modern
interpretations can be, as the interpretation of Hinduism within
Theosophy or the various occult interpretations of the Jewish
Kabbalah. Orthodox members of such religions are likely to consider
such interpretations false; for example, the Kabbalah Centre has been
criticised by Jewish scholars.[8]

The word "occult" is somewhat generic, in that almost everything that
isn't claimed by any of the major religions can be considered the
occult. Even religious scientists have difficulties in defining
occultism. A broad definition is offered by Nicholas Goodrick-Clarke:

"OCCULTISM has its basis in a religious way of thinking, the roots of
which stretch back into antiquity and which may be described as the
Western esoteric tradition. Its principal ingredients have been
identified as Gnosticism, the Hermetic treatises on alchemy and magic,
Neo-Platonism, and the Kabbalah, all originating in the eastern
Mediterranean area during the first few centuries AD."[9]

From the 15th to 17th century, these kinds of ideas that are
alternatively described as Western esotericism had a brief revival.
Alchemy used to be common among highly important seventeenth-century
scientists, such as Isaac Newton[10] and Gottfried Leibniz.[11] Isaac
Newton was accused of introducing occult agencies into natural science
when he postulated gravity as a force capable of acting over vast
distances.[12] This revival of alchemy and other occult studies was
halted by the triumph of empirical sciences and the Age of
Enlightenment. "By the eighteenth century these unorthodox religious
and philosophical concerns were well defined as 'occult', inasmuch as
they lay on the outermost fringe of accepted forms of knowledge and
discourse,"[13] and were only preserved by a few antiquarians and
mystics. However, from about 1770 onwards, a renewed desire for
mystery, an interest in the Middle Ages and a romantic temper
encouraged a revival of occultism in Europe, "a reaction to the
rationalist Enlightenment."[13]

Based on his research into the modern German occult revival 1890-1910,
Goodrick-Clarke puts forward a thesis on the driving force behind
occultism. Behind its many varied forms apparently lies a uniform
function, "a strong desire to reconcile the findings of modern natural
science with a religious view that could restore man to a position of
centrality and dignity in the universe.[14]

That the Kabbalah has been considered an occult study is also perhaps
because of its popularity among magi (the biblical wise men who
visited the Infant Jesus are said to have been magi of Zoroastrianism)
and Thelemites.[citation needed] Kabbalah was later adopted by the
Golden Dawn and brought out into the open by Aleister Crowley and his
protégé Israel Regardie. Since that time many authors have emphasized
a syncretic approach by drawing parallels between different
disciplines.[15]

Direct insight into or perception of the occult does not usually
consist of access to physically measurable facts, but is arrived at
through the mind or the spirit. The term can refer to mental,
psychological or spiritual training. It is important to note, however,
that many occultists will also study science (perceiving science as an
adjunct to alchemy) to add validity to occult knowledge in a day and
age where the mystical can easily be undermined as flights of fancy.
An oft-cited means of gaining insight into the occult is the use of a
focus; a physical object, a ritualistic action (for example,
meditation or chanting), or a medium in which one becomes wholly
immersed. These are just a few examples of the vast and numerous
avenues that can be explored.
[edit] Science and the occult

To the occultist, Occultism is conceived of as the study of the inner
nature of things, as opposed to the outer characteristics that are
studied by science. The German Kantian philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer
designates this 'inner nature' with the term 'Will', and suggests that
science and mathematics are unable to penetrate beyond the
relationship between one thing and another in order to explain the
'inner nature' of the thing itself, independent of any external causal
relationships with other 'things'.[16][original research?]
Schopenhauer also points towards this inherently relativistic nature
of mathematics and conventional science in his formulation of the
'World as Will'. By defining a thing solely in terms of its external
relationships or effects we only find its external, or explicit
nature. Occultism, on the other hand, is concerned with the nature of
the 'thing-in-itself'. This is often accomplished through direct
perceptual awareness, known as mysticism.

From the scientific perspective, Occultism is regarded as
pseudoscience as it does not make use of the scientific method, that
is observation and experimentation to obtain truth but instead relies
on speculation, discussion and meditation.
[edit] Occult qualities

In the Middle Ages, occult qualities were physical properties that had
no rational explanation. At that time magnetism was sometimes called
an occult quality. [17]
[edit] Religion and the occult

Some religious denominations view the occult as being anything
supernatural or paranormal which is not achieved by or through God (as
defined by those religious denominations), and is therefore the work
of an opposing and malevolent entity. The word has negative
connotations for many people, and while certain practices considered
by some to be "occult" are also found within mainstream religions, in
this context the term "occult" is rarely used and is sometimes
substituted with "esoteric".

In Judaism, special spiritual studies such as Kabbalah have been
allowed for certain individuals (such as rabbis and their chosen
students - to qualify before even starting such learning, a student
must be at least 40 years old, married, fully observant of all the
Jewish laws and only study with an approved, qualified and recognised
Kabbalist, remaining strictly within the specific parameters set out
by his teacher and Halachic law). Furthermore, there are branches of
Esoteric Christianity that practice divination, blessings, or
appealing to angels for certain intervention, which they view as
perfectly righteous, often supportable by gospel (for instance,
claiming that the old commandment against divination was superseded by
Christ's birth, and noting that the Magi used astrology to locate
Bethlehem). Rosicrucianism, one of the most celebrated of
Christianity's mystical offshoots, has lent aspects of its philosophy
to most Christian-based occultism since the 17th century.

Tantra, originating in India, includes amongst its various branches a
variety of ritualistic practices ranging from visualisation exercises
and the chanting of mantras to elaborate rituals involving sex or
animal sacrifice, sometimes performed in forbidden places such as
cremation grounds. Tantric texts were at one stage unavailable for
mass public consumption due to the social stigma attached to the
practices. In general, tantra was predominantly associated with black
magic and the tantriks were held in great dishonor.

It is my belief that most Empathetic Persons like myself are most
likely Naturally Psychic Vampyres (like myself).

Father JP Vanir

Here is an article to explain a little bit about EMPATHY

EMPATHIC by WICKEDSAPPHIRE
TYPES OF PSYCHIC ABILITIES: EMPATHY

Empathy is also known as clairsentience. An empathy is a person who
can physically "tune in" to the emotional experience of a person or
place. They sense attitudes, emotions, and sometimes physical
ailments. It is believed that empathy's sense the vibration and "feel"
of the human aura. The aura is the naturally occurring energy field
that surrounds all living things. It can be seen, felt, and even
photographed. Every aura is unique, and it leaves traces behind, no
matter where you go. The aura may, in fact, linger around objects or
places and that "lingering energy" is what an empathy senses and
intuits. I should also point out here that the ability to read objects
is called psychometry.

In psychometry, an empathy senses a persons energy that lingers on an
object, such as a ring, for example. They read this information
through touch and can deduce information about the individuals
personality and life, whether they are living or deceased. They sense
and feel on an emotional level who the person truly is (or was). This
psychometric ability is strongly tied into emotions, just as you'd
expect with an empathy.

The psychic reception area for an empathy is located in the solar
plexus region and is linked to the same chakra point. In this area of
the body there are tons of nerve networks, and they flare out over the
abdomen like an intricate web. This chakra point is tied to your
creativity and your emotions, which takes the mystery right out of why
this is an empathy's power center. With an empathy, its all about how
the feel. what emotions they pick up and what sentiments they sense.

Empathy's can be overly sensitive to touch from a stranger or may
dislike crowds, antiques, or environments such as hospitals. So they
have to learn how to "toughen up:" and block overwhelming memories and
sensations. I'm not being unsympathetic here, I'm one of those people
who is very empathic. It can be tough, but I learned how to block and
shield so I wouldn't be so overwhelmed by other people, their
memories, and emotions all the time.

For empathy's, psychic protection is necessity. Take the time to
ground yourself and to "zip up" those chakra's so you don't become
bombarded with other peoples negativity and bad vibes. Visualize a
shield of blue light surrounding you. Also, I have found that folding
your arms across your middle will block out any negative emotions as
well. This gesture physically blocks all those psychic receptors in
the solar plexus region, and it muffles them, giving you an immediate
break.

Also, in a pinch, If you are feeling bombarded with other peoples
emotions, try washing your hands--running cold water over your hands
will break the emotional link. Just quietly excuse yourself to go to
the restroom. This gives you the opportunity to walk away from an
overwhelming situation or person that you are picking up on. Once you
have physically removed yourself from the situation or person, ground
yourself and then follow that up by washing your hands. Quick, clever,
and very, very effective.

In magic, empathy's have a built in safety net to keep them from even
considering negative work. Why? Because its very easy for an empathy
to understand exactly how it would feel to be on the receiving end of
manipulative magic. On the plus side, empathy can help you work a
spell for another. Your emotions are easily matched to theirs, and
this can be a large help while working. Lets say, a requested healing
spell for another person. With empathy's, their emotions and
compassion always lead their magic. So if this is your strongest
trait, then celebrate it, and let your sentiments guide you into
strong, beautiful, compassionate, and ethical magic.

Protecting Free Speech, Even When People Don't Like It
Saturday December 26, 2009

This is an interesting little snippet from Illinois. It seems that the
Freedom from Religion Foundation was permitted to put up a sign in the
state capitol building which read "At the time of the winter solstice,
let reason prevail. There are no gods, no devils, no angels, no heaven
or hell. There is only our natural world. Religion is just myth and
superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds." The group filled
out a permit application when a Nativity display was put in place, and
officials allowed them to go ahead with their sign.

On Wednesday, however, two days before Christmas, a conservative
activist named William J. Kelly announced that he was going to take
down the sign, because he felt it was "hate speech" and that it just
wasn't very nice at all to have it so close to a Christmas tree.
However, when Kelly got to the capitol building and turned the sign
around so no one could read it, he was promptly escorted from the
premises by police.

Although this seems like a minor incident, it's an important one.
Let's face it, there are probably a number of people in Illinois who
are not happy about the fact that there's an anti-religious message
right there next to the Christmas display. And some of those people
may well be members of the capitol police department. What's
significant here is that (a) the Freedom From Religion Foundation
followed all the rules to get their sign placed and (b) the police did
their job by removing William Kelly from the building. Not only that,
they told him not to return for the remainder of the day.

It's important that law enforcement personnel everywhere recognize --
as these officers did -- that everyone's right to free speech is
protected, even if the majority may disagree with it.

Self-Styled Vampire Jailed for Threatening Judge
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Published: December 16, 2009

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- A man who claims to be the leader of a group of vampires has pleaded guilty to charges that he threatened to torture and kill an Indianapolis judge and his family.

Forty-five-year-old Rocky Flash, also known as Jonathon Sharkey, was sentenced in a Marion County court on Wednesday to more than two years in jail.

Prosecutors say the man threatened to beat, torture, impale, dismember and decapitate Judge David Certo, who is presiding over another case involving Flash.

Flash claims to be the leader of a group called ''Vampyre Nation.'' A call to a phone number listed on the group's blog got a recording saying the call could not go through.

The Associated Press called Flash's public defender for comment after hours, but the office was closed and didn't have an answering machine.

Prosecutors said Flash claims to be the leader of Vampyer Nation (VN) and stated that he will beat, torture, impale, dismember and decapitate Judge Certo.

According to probable cause documents, Flash sent an email from a library threatening the judge. A library worker monitoring computer usage found documents linking Flash to the threat.

Coming Out Of The Coffin
By Katie O'Brienand Cassie Wierenga
Medill Reports - Chicago, Northwestern University
December 9, 2009

Richard said, "It's a lot of quiet when the feeding comes, it's very personal,
I keep it to myself. I don't look out or hunt people."

A Chicago Vampire's Story: The Need To Feed

At 41, Richard has been a part of the Chicago vampire culture for more than 20 years.

Richard, who asked that his name be withheld, began his life as a vampire in the
sanguinary tradition of blood drinking, but said he was unfulfilled.
For the latter half of his vampire life, he has practiced psychic, or
psy vampirism.

Psy vampires feed off of the energy of others. Feeding methods vary from fang to fang, but everyone experiences the
frenzy, Richard said.

Martin Riccardo, a behavior hypnotist who researches and writes about vampire culture, explained that the biggest
misconception about vampires like Richard is that they are sadistic and
dangerous.

"I've seen some very intimidating characters and I find them to be the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. I think
part of it is that they want to look scary and intimidating," Riccardo
said.

Richard is conscious of the negative blood hype, but still feels the need to feed.

I do feel the urge for the energy feed, I do feel drained. You need the
energy to work your mind. There is a very strong swoom or rapture, as I
call it, especially when feeding on someone new, Richard said.

Traditionally, Richard fed off of crowds, fellow vampires or performing as an
impersonatorJack Sparrow and Austin Powers are crowd favorites. On
several occasions, Richard travelled to the U.S. mecca of vampirism,
New Orleans, where he felt free to walk about in his vampire skin.

It is a rush to be seen and looked at, and to command a presence in the
real world. When the vampires are there theyre not saying, look at
me, theyre saying, here I am, Richard said.

Richard, now a Milwaukee resident, is a factory worker. He spends his days hidden
beneath jeans and a T-shirt, masking his true identity from family and
co-workers.

Coming out of the coffin is a milestone in every vamps life. he is keenly aware of the negative shadow cast on his
immortal soul.

I keep that very private. Coming out is like going to New Orleans and these vampire balls, thats when the full
persona, the full energy comes out, Richard said.

Currently, he is in a relationship with a mortal. Shes yet to experience his custom
-made prosthetic fangs, his two antique coffins or closet full of
Lestat-esque costumes. Unbeknownst to her, Richard feeds off her energy
nearly twice a week.

The most intense feeds are personal relationships, Richard explains. [You] can feed through intimacy,
personal interaction...when she sees me, she brightens up a lot. I find,
at least for me, the empathy level is very high.

Group psychic feeds are less frequent these days as the feast of the early 90s slowly
spoiled. Richard is hopeful that the current Twilight trend will act as
a gateway drug for young blood.

It keeps things alive. Its good to have many interpretations, Richard said. The new vampire is a
little bit more poppy. Once they get in, maybe theyll want to learn
more and seek our more information.

____

This sexual predator is not cruising chat rooms or walking into a sting
operation with "To Catch a Predator's" Chris Hansen. For centuries
belt buckles and bra clasps have unfastened at their whim. These
long-toothed, porcelain hemo-fiends bit their own chunk out of the
fleshy literary almanac.

Katherine Ramsland, a forensic psychologist at DeSales University, a Catholic school in Philadelphia,
prefers her vampires with a bit more bite.

She is the author of more than 35 books, an Anne Rice biographer and vampirologist, who
has studied vampire culture for more than 20 years. She likens the
worldwide phenomenon known as Twilight, to prolonged heavy petting,
less the classic appeal of sex, drugs and rock and roll.

Shes noticed a significant anthropological trend at the end of the last
several decades. Ramsland and other vampire enthusiasts argue that the
pale faces are a legitimate and enduring archetype of modern culture.
The fanged ones evolve, regenerating themselves as malleable creatures.

As a significant time period draws to a closea decade, a century, a
millennium, Ramsland said, there is a surge of Gothic or supernatural
focus. Vampire novels were also huge in the late 1980s and 1990s, and
Dracula was published in 1897.

A possible archetypal explanation is a collective sense of things coming to an end, she
explains. The vampire offers an exit strategy as a symbol of
immortality and vitality.

It came as no surprise to Ramsland that the vampire again cracked its coffin. The Twilight Saga series by
Mormon housewife turned author, Stephanie Meyer, accounted for 16
percent of all book sales in the first quarter of 2009, according to
Bob Wietrak, director of merchandising for Barnes & Noble. Four of
every 25 books sold in the first four months of 2009 wore the Twilight
brand.

Cable television vampire drama, True Blood, is HBOs most-watched series since The Sopranos. The CWs Vampire Diaries
was the networks biggest series premier this fall, netting 4.9 million
viewers, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The new brood of biters are a watered down version of the vampire Ramsland fell in love with years ago.

What vampire wants to go to high school? The rest is a dry hump for teenage
girls. Theres hardly any sophistication in it, Ramsland said of the
Twilight phenomena.

In Ramslands 2002 book, The Science of Vampires, she defines a vampire as a preternatural creature in human
form. It survives by exploiting the resources of others in a way that
weakens or kills them. It does so, Ramsland said, by draining its
victim of its primary resource of life, generally blood or energy.

Meyers tragically flawed Edward Cullen is the worlds first prude vampire.
Like a Jane Austin character of the Underworld, the Darcy-esque vamp
battles werewolves, evil vampires, teen angst and hormones.

The vampire tradition is closely tied to Goth culture, fetishism and sex.
The current trend marks a sexual regression to Victorian prudence.

Karen Brooks, a media studies professor at Australias Southern Cross
University, calls Meyers vampire tale one for the STD and True Love
Waits generation. She added, [Meyer's] books are also an antidote
to the sex-saturated culture in which we live.

If Twilight is the fluffer of vampire pornography, whos playing super porn star Jenna Jameson?

According to Martin Riccardo, a behavior hypnotist who researches and writes
about vampire culture, said the vampire has become an all-purpose
fantasy outlet.

Right now we are riding the biggest wave of vampire interest there has ever been. Hundreds of millions of dollars
have come out of the Twilight series, he said.

The Chicago native has been researching, lecturing and writing about vampires since
1977. Riccardo said that metaphorically speaking, blood drinking is an
equivalent to having sex.

Vampire stories without sexuality appeal to a lot of people because the blood lust has all the flavor of
sexuality without the sex. Theyre able to sublimate their sexual
desires by projecting it into the vampire, Riccardo said.

A bloody mess

Those who experience vampirism through blood drinking are known as
sanguinary, or sang, vampires. For his book, Liquid Dreams of
Vampires, Riccardo compiled bizarre accounts and personal experiences
with vampirism.

Whether they [vampires] drink blood or drain energy, they claim to get high from this. I happen to think its all
psychological but creates a physical reaction. People who feel the
physical need to drink blood, I would say have a fetish...at some point
they experienced this [frenzy] and they need to recreate that
sensation, he said.

There has been a significant decline in the practice of sang vampirism since the onset of the AIDS epidemic in the
early 1980s. Blood drinking is beyond high-risk behavior. If HIV and
hepatitis needed a place to breed super-diseases, it would likely be
the human mouth with all its microscopic cuts and permeable membranes.

If you were to take a glass of blood and just drink it, you would probably
vomit, Ramsland said. There is no biological evidence that someone
must have blood to survive.

Sang vampires tend to rely on instincts rather than science when it comes to safe feeding practices,
Riccardo said. Donors can be found on Craigs List, vampire message
boards and fetish sites but, he said that sangs tend to rely wholly
on gut feelings.

They have a sense whether the blood is trustworthy, Riccardo said.

Documentary filmmaker and sociologist Geoff Harkness spent two years exploring
vampire culture in the United States for his 2006 feature-length
documentary, National Vampire. After googling his brains out, he
unearthed a myriad of subcultures that overlap the vampire community:
the Goth music scene, bondage, sadomasochism and blood fetishists.

Interview with a Real Vampire
by JannyCZ in People, December 7, 2009
In depth look on the Real Vampire community and subculture.

*DISCLAIMER* This might be a series as I walk into the vast world of
the Real Vampire community, and subculture. I take an nontraditional
approach and ask questions that most may not ask, and I am open and
eager to learn. I do not shun or judge and respect and hope to shed
light and an understand on the dark.

With the Vampire craze thanks to The Twilight books by Stephanie
Meyers and T.V. shows like True Blood and Vampire Diaries also base on
books everyone is jumping on the Vampire coattails, but have you read
the articles? Watched the news programs? Read the books? About those
that identify as REAL Vampires? This is a true community and sub
culture and more and more information on them is becoming mainstream
and coming out of the coffin so to speak. There have been global
studies done by Vampirism & Energy Work Research Study Suscitatio
Enterprises, LLC. Also Scholars whom studies this sub cultured
community got deep inside, and composed the book: Vampires Today: Truth
About Modern Vampirism By Joseph Laycock.
http://www.amazon.com/Vampires-Today-Truth-Modern-Vampirism/dp/0313...

So I went too searching too. To ask the tough questions and to listen
let them the speak. Its open and raw. Not just snippets that portray
things in a pretty paper bow. I want to open up and shed some more
light on this Community, and the diversity, condition you might even say of the
Real Vampire. In posting out a call in some online Vampire community
sites I got contacted by one Father JP Vanir of the: Temple United
Vampyrian Unitarian Pagan.

Jannyc: Thank you for joining me.

Father JP Vanir: You are most welcome and I want to stress that not
every single thing I say is not that of the entire Vampyre Community but
some is my own personal opinions.

Jannyc: Ok gotta ask the question for all the Twilight fans out there
you guys dont sparkle do you?

Father JP Vanir: Absolutely not; we may be different but we are not
that strange.

Jannyc: Good we got that out of the way down to business. From my
research before hand there are a lot of vampire types can you
enlighten us on this?

Father JP Vanir: Technically there are basically Psychic and Sanguine
Vampyres BUT there are eve more types of Psychic Vampyres. Most are
either Pranic (Energy or direct life force drinkers), Tantric (Sexual
or Sensual feeders), Elemental (Nature feeders I guess this is your
real Vegetarian
Vampyres LOL), Ambient (which feeds on crowds of
people), and Emotional Vampyres which most give us a bad name feeding
on the Emotions of people often stirring up negative Emotions in
people to feed on. EMO Vampyres are often looked down on in the Real
Vampyre Community. I however believe you do not necessarily have to
pick and choose one type of feeding method and I practice just about
every type of feeding there is to keep from starvation. Most have
there favorite methods of feeding, choose not to feed certain ways, do
not know how, or cannot feed certain ways for one reason or another.
Of course there may be even ways to feed I dont even know about.

Jannyc: What are your views on the word vampire? Do you think it fits
properly within the community? It all boils down to the basic need for
energy so would not Energy drinkers be more correct a term? What is
Vampirism?

Father JP Vanir: My old friend used the word Pranavore or energy
drinker but I am not about to let Hollywood and the media take the
word from me. Vampires do feed on the living even in the mythology so
it fits just fine. That is what we do. However we do not kill
our food sources unlike Humans and other animals. We can only take a
little at a time.

Jannyc: Back what I mentioned in the previous question I want to go
into that more. Is Vampirism a condition? Can it be a condition of the
body and soul? Is it a choice or a need, requirement ect?

Father JP Vanir: Yes; that is correct. I believe it is a condition of
our Soul and our Souls are Vampyres in each incarnation.

Jannyc: Most would say you all are crazy an there really is no need to
drink blood or take energy. What do you say to this? Do you really
feel physically feel the pain, lethargy when you go long time without
feeding?

Father JP Vanir: I feed naturally and do not have to think about
feeding. However if I am not around people for a very long time I
will become extremely fatigue and depressed; there are many others who
I have gone to the hospital because of not feeding and put on the heart
transplant list. When I was in high school I had a mysterious virus
the doctors could not explain that caused my pancreas to stop working
and I now have diabetes because of it. They could not explain what
happened but I have a feeling it was my inability to keep my body
energized and healthy at that time. Again I can not force anyone to
believe what they wont let themselves believe so I just say do the
research for yourself and believe what you will.

Jannyc: Could it not just be a placebo effect of mind over matter
thing? I think there for I am? But then you never think oh I need
blood or energy when you first come into the realization of what you
are correct?

Father JP Vanir: Well too many of those in the community have almost
died from not feeding (Micheal Belanger for one) and everyone is free
to disbelieve of believe what they will. I could actually care less as
you cannot fully change the mind of most people and it is there right
to believe whatever they want. It harms me none and doesnt harm them
so feel free to believe what you can and I have no intentions on
changing the worlds view. I just ask that you do your research and not
blindly disbelieve anything. I evolved so far and gained so much in my
Theological studies and path.

Jannyc: To the ones that drink blood you dont drain a whole entire
body of blood like we see in the movies. Its just a little you
require and you take strict precautions correct? Tell me more about
that process.

Father JP Vanir: I rarely drink blood myself but I do have a Vampyr
Life Force Giver Contract our TempleUVUP Vampyrian Bible. Most
Vampyres do not take too much and only feed every couple weeks or
months. Most psychically feed as well whether they realize it or not
to fill in the need they dont get from constantly feeding on Blood.

Jannyc: Now when you hear the word vampire you think Gothic, corsets,
long dark hair and coffins, fangs with black fingernails the whole
shebang. In truth Real vampires are not like that though some can be
all into Gothic, emo, pagan lifestyle thing correct? Your doctor, mail
man could be a vampire right?

Father JP Vanir: Correct

Jannyc: Sun sensitivity is a concern with most Real vampires too
right? But once again unlike Hollywood you dont burn ash or sparkle.
Also there is the medical Prohyria which is often caused the vampire
disease. Where does that all fit in.

Father JP Vanir: There are some in the Vampyre community who actually
believe they can feed on the sunlight. My own personal opinion is that
the sun is an energy source for plants and animals as well as the
Human animal; Vampyres in my opinion however are not completely Human
but have a Vampyr soul (energy source) which is on a much higher but
different energy pattern which cannot feed on the suns light as it is
a much different energy source which we cannot handle as well but no
it will not harm our human bodies.

Jannyc: With the hype of the Twilight books and movies and TV shows
it seems the topic Real vampires are getting out there more and more.
I recently saw the television news show 20/20 have a piece about Real
vampires. What are your thoughts on that? Think the community is being
shown correctly? Think the condition of vampirism being shown
correctly?

Father JP Vanir: I think we are being ridiculed mostly but I dont
think it is right for us to shun the media and act all secretive as we
are NOT a dangerous cult.

Jannyc: Thank you very much for taking your time with me. Its been a pleasure.

Father JP Vanir: You are most welcome and I hope it shed some light on
all who read this.

Love 'Twilight?' Meet 'Real-Life Vampires'
Self-Described Vampires Claim to Feed on Human Energy and Blood to Stay Healthy
By DENISE MARTINEZ-RAMUNDO and JOAN MARTELLI
November 25, 2009

ABC News 20/20 (Television Special - Friday, November 27, 2009)

Video 1:  http://abcnews.go.com/2020/real-life-vampires-twilight-saga-moon/story?id=8974245&page=1 ("Real-life vampire" Jade drinks the blood of a donor for excitement and arousal.)
Video 2:  http://abcnews.go.com/2020/ (Vampire Belfazaar Craves Blood)

From popular TV shows like "True Blood" to hit movies like "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," the lust for vampire stories seems to be insatiable. "New Moon" broke box office records this past weekend, earning more than $250 million in worldwide.

But are vampires anything more than fiction?

In New Orleans' French Quarter, a man who goes by the name Belfazaar Ashantison claims to be a real-life vampire. He says he suffers from a physiological condition that prevents him from "creating enough of the essential daily energies to get through even the basic tasks," making him feel perpetually drained.

"I am a vampire," said Belfazaar, 44, who works as a "spiritual consultant" at a shop called Voodoo Authentica. "My method of getting to that energy source is through the blood."

Whether you believe him or not, Belfazaar insists that to stay healthy he must feed on blood. And he's not alone in his beliefs. He is an elder in a secretive but widespread community of people who are convinced they are real vampires.

Watch the full story on "20/20" Friday at 10 p.m. ET

"It's a worldwide phenomenon," said Katherine Ramsland, professor of forensic psychology at DeSales University and author of "The Science of Vampires." She has spent years studying the vampire subculture.

"Some people are misfits," she said. "Some people are just creative people who don't feel they fit into normal society. Some people find the vampire a very empowering figure and they want to identify with that."

These self-described vampires believe they have an "energy leak," which makes them sick, depressed, lethargic, and say that only by feeding on other people's energy or blood do they feel better.

Belfazaar and all the other self-described vampires 20/20 spoke to for this story preferred not to be identified by their real names.

'Real-Life Vampires' Feed on Human Blood

In fiction, when vampires feed they kill. However, in the strange world of so-called real vampires, there is an etiquette to drinking blood. According to Belfazaar, they don't attack strangers and bite them on the neck the way horror films show them.

"I find that abhorrent behavior to force a feeding on anybody," said Belfazaar.

He said that he feeds two to three times a week, sometimes on blood, sometimes on what he calls "psychic energy," and always on consenting donors.

Belfazaar Ashantison claims to be a real-life vampire. The 44-year-old who works as a "spiritual consultant" at a shop called Voodoo Authentica in New Orleans, La., said: "My method of getting to that energy source is through the blood."

Sanguine Vampire Demonstrates 'Safe Blood Feed'

There are different ways to carry out a blood feed, according to those in the vampire community. Some sanguine vampires draw blood from a vein, transfer it to a glass and then drink it.

Others like Belfazaar practice mouth-to-wound feeding. To lift the veil on what society considers taboo, he agreed to demonstrate what he describes as "a safe blood feed."

In front of 20/20 cameras, Belfazaar removed his prosthetic fangs, which he wears to "break the ice" in social situations with people who may be curious about his lifestyle. He then rinsed with mouthwash and sterilized the skin of his donor -- measures which he said are meant to keep things safe.

A man calling himself Bo was the donor. It wasn't his first time.

"It's not comfortable, but it doesn't hurt," he said. "I mean, it's not any worse than getting a piercing or a tattoo."

Belfazaar used an exacto knife to make a small cut on Bo's back. As blood flowed, Belfazaar drank it directly from the wound.

At his most hungry, Belfazaar said he has ingested six ounces of blood, but warned normal humans, -- who, he said, are known as "mundanes" in vampire lingo -- that drinking blood can you sick "if you are not a true sanguine."

This strange "feeding" is what Belfazaar and others say they need to stay healthy, but it can also be an erotic experience for those who participate.

"It's a rush of energy. There's a bond between the two individuals," said Bo.

"Even though the vampires are taking from someone there is an energy that we give off," said Belfazaar. "For some people, they describe it as calming, other people describe it as sensually arousing."

Jade, who reads tarot cards in the French Quarter, is also an elder in the New Orleans vampire community, and told 20/20 that she needs to feed on sex and blood -- the more the better.

"I can do it once a week and stay balanced. I can do it twice a week and stay happy. I can do it daily and just be really happy."

Not all so-called vampires identify themselves as sanguine, or blood drinking vampires; however, most interviewed by "20/20" admit that they have at one time or another tried drinking blood.

0
Jade, who reads tarot cards in the French Quarter, is also an elder in the New Orleans vampire community, and told 20/20 that she needs to feed on sex and blood. Here, she feeds on blood from a donor.

Sucking Blood: The Danger is Very Real

Doctors say that feeding on blood has no medical value.

"To ingest the blood, biologically speaking, it has no value whatsoever in making any medical difference," said Dr. Jeffery Hobden, an infectious disease expert at the LSU Health Sciences Center. "The placebo effect can be very powerful."

It can also be dangerous.

"Not only is the person who's ingesting the blood at risk, but the person who is donating the blood who was cut is also at risk from infection," said Hobden.

What's more, if the blood is tainted with HIV, hepatitis or other viruses, they can be introduced into the bloodstream through any cut in the mouth or gums. There could also be unidentified dangerous blood-borne viruses that could be sources of disease.

Belfazaar said he and his donors are tested regularly. He said he also believes he is somehow immune to infections.

"I've been doing this since I was 13, so that's 31 years of never being bothered by any of the other infections," he said. "So if there's something that bothers a normal -- what we call a mundane -- human, for some reason they don't bother me."

In her fourteen years of drinking blood, Jade said she has fed thousands of times, using her judgment to screen potential donors.

"I'm very picky about my donors. Some people go for medical testing. I find that too expensive. I just use my own perceptions and I'm never wrong."

Dr. Hobden says that kind of thinking could be deadly. "I'm sure that some of these folks, we'll be seeing them in the hospitals with failing livers from chronic hepatitis or liver cancer," he said. "The danger is very real."

I was just listening to Closer by Nine Inch Nails and thinking he must
have been writing this song about a Succubus or Sexual Vampyre.
Seriously listen to the lyrics:

You can have my isolation; you can have the hate that it brings
You can have my absence of faith; you can have my everything

When we feed we take from those we feed on and we can relax them and
make them feel better...

The New Year is almost here and the old year is almost gone. It always seem that
around this time of the year, we have a lot to think about. Our pass and our
future. For most of us, we think about our failures of what went wrong and maybe
what we could have done. Well, the pass is gone and there is nothing that we can
do about that. but there is something that we can do for the future. As far as
our pass we learn from our mistakes in life and we keep going. As I look around,
I do realize we are living in hard time's. The one thing that I can say is to
never give up. Our path is what we choose it to be when it is all said and done.
Live for today. As the holiday come and go. Live life to the fullest. Enjoy what
you have. Love your family and friends. Love nature and most of love yourself.
When you can look beyond the madness of your life, you will find it is not as
bad as it may seem to be. No know what there future could truly be. But if we
keep our eyes on positive things in life. Perhaps our days to come will be a
better year for us. I want to say Happy Holiday to everyone and the I love you
all

Vampires Seek Tolerance, Understanding From Others
By Christopher Quinn
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Lifestyle - November 16, 2009 (Online Ed.)
Living - November 17, 2009 (Print Ed.)

Being a vampire is boring compared to the young, beautiful and powerful bloodsuckers appearing weekly on TV and movie screens.

Merticus, an organizer of the 4-year-old Atlanta Vampire Alliance, said vampires are mostly like anyone else.

"We could be the model-train group down the street from you," he said.

Except the model-train group depends on electricity as a power source. Atlanta vampires believe they drain energy from people and some, yes, drink a bit of human blood to get the boost they need.

Merticus, who declines to give his real name, and alliance members claim they are different, physically or psychologically. They draw energy to feel good and stay healthy, and they absorb it psychically from close contact with "donors" or from drinking a tablespoon of blood from them maybe once a week. They do not claim mythic powers such as immortality, and the screen depictions are often off-putting to members.

For instance, the vampires from the Twilight Saga, the luridly romantic novel and movies for young adults, have skin that sparkles in sunlight.

"That doesn't sit too well with us," Merticus said by phone.

Sounds weird? That is why Merticus, a politically active small business owner in Atlanta, and the eleven other members of his group do not talk to outsiders about their alternate identities. They fear losing jobs, discrimination or shunning. Few vampires have come out like the lady who posed for photos in a T-shirt and jeans for the Washington Post in 2008.

"The only thing I objected to in the article is that we were painted as boring," Merticus said dryly.

Vampire groups have been around for decades, but the pop culture obsession fueled by the Twilight phenomenon (85 million novels sold worldwide) and two current TV series, are giving them a boost in interest. The Atlanta group's unique visitors to its Web site at http://www.atlantavampirealliance.com/ jumped from about 16,000 in 2007 to about 28,000 so far in 2009.

Scholars have watched them for years.

Joseph Laycock, a former Atlantan finishing his doctorate in religion and society at Boston University, discovered that the Atlantans sent out a 1,000-question survey to more than 900 self-identified vampires called the Advanced Vampirism & Energy Work Research Survey, through Suscitatio Enterprises, a corporation formed by Merticus and others for the survey. Laycock contacted Merticus to study what they reported about themselves. He won their trust, spent time in the community, then wrote and presented a paper on vampires as a self-identifying group to the American Academy of Religion two years ago.

"So I gave this paper and just thought people would think it would be weird and that would be the end of it," Laycock said. "Two [academic] journals approached me and said they wanted to approach the piece and Praeger [soon to be his publisher] approached me, and they knew something I didn't about this thing called Twilight."

Laycock's resulting sociological tome, "Vampires Today: the Truth About Modern Vampirism" has earned him nonstop interviews between Halloween and the premiere of the next Twilight movie, "New Moon," on Friday.

Even TV psychologist Dr. Phil McGraw called.

"He said he was doing a show about teenagers biting each other. I said, `Dr. Phil, have you ever heard of hickeys?'" Laycock quipped.

Laycock's book shows vampires are teenagers and grandmothers, stay-at-home moms and professionals. Most blend in with appearance and behavior, and are no more dangerous than any other group, though some vampires get into "the lifestyle" and wear fake fangs and Gothic dress. That may or may not draw attention depending on location, he said.

"If you go to Los Angeles, no one even cares if you are a vampire," Laycock said.

Katherine Ramsland, a professor of forensic psychology at DeSales University in Pennsylvania interviewed and studied vampires nearly a decade ago. She finds reasons for their self-identification in needs other than physical.

"Most people are attracted to it because of its power and mystery and mystique and the way it gives them a whole new identity," she said. "It's a lot more interesting to most of us than our own identities."

"I have never ever heard of one going to a physician or scientist to say please prove this so I can support my claim with objective methods," she said.

Merticus said the survey was a start to answering doubts like Ramsland's. The survey shows vampires report higher incidences of depression, asthma, migraines and other physical ailments. He would love for genetic testing to take place to look for scientific explanations for their differences.

In the meantime, "The only thing I would ask is tolerance," he said.

Vampires part of OGIA seminar to law enforcement

Posted: Aug 19, 2009 06:12 PM EDT

LAWON, Okla. - Bloods, Crips, Gangster Disciples, Latin Kings and
vampires!? Believe it! The Oklahoma Gang Investigators Association
has more than neighborhood street gangs to deal with.

At Wednesday's OGIA seminar, law enforcement learned about the
underground world of occult crime. Guest speaker Don Rimer spent over
three decades as police officer in Virginia, where he discovered
crimes involving cult activity. Satanists committed some of these
crimes, but some culprits acted as vampires.

Rimer is originally from Lawton and is a Cameron University graduate.
He says he was always interested in vampires, but did not know that
their practices existed in real life. He started researching cults,
attending some ceremonies as a viewer, and now shares that information
with law enforcement and educators nationwide, so they can combat cult
crime.

Most of these officers have never dealt with gangs of vampires or
other cults, but for Sheriff Ken Stradley, some of these images were
nothing new.

"We've had some situations throughout the county that we came up on,
where we felt and knew that they had had Satan worship," said
Stradley.

"There are those in the vampire community, the satanic community, that
believe that they need to do certain things to accomplish their goals,
and that's when they commit crimes, using grave robbery or using other
humans in unlawful ways," said Rimer.

Some of the people shown in Rimer's presentations are obviously
Satanists, but others surprised the audience. As part of a ritual, a
normal-looking man sodomized his infant daughter at his satanic
church, and so did his fellow members.

"The Crips and the Bloods and the normal street activity...the street
gangs, and that kind of violence...doesn't hold anything to what we're
learning how big these topics are becoming," said Lawton Police Gang
Investigator, Tiff Poff.

Rimer says movies like "Blade" and "Twilight" made vampirism cool, and
people commit themselves to being vampires. Rimer shows the official
vampire bible, and there are sanguine who legally practice the
ritualist consumption of human blood by drinking each other's.

"If they do what is considered correct, they'll use needles or
scalpels or razor blades with each other...consenting adults. But
then there are others that will prey on people and take it illegally,"
said Rimer.

The problem for law enforcement is, unlike the Crips and Bloods, these
groups usually hide their activity. There is no graffiti, little
advertising...other than clothing which is sometimes overlooked as
just being weird.

"They think it's just people trying to get attention. The appearance
is in beginning stages, and they don't realize it leads to violence,
and murder, and suicide and things like that," said Poff.

"We've had cases where people...acting out their werewolf fantasies
and vampire fantasies...have killed and maimed and harmed other
people," said Rimer.

Not all occult-like behavior is criminal. The word occult means
hidden and Rimer talked to the officers about pagans and
wiccans...groups that have worship ceremonies but do not commit crime.
He taught about how to identify which groups are good and which
should seem suspicious.

OK? There are a few mistakes here:

1. This all started way before Blade or esp Twilight...

2. The Vampire Bible is against drinking blood and the ToV banns
members who do so...

3. This is extremely rare in both Communities and again members are
banned or kicked out for doing criminal activities most times...

Very poor research indeed...

Serving the Higher Self

The Ego

In most spiritual circles, the ego gets a pretty bad rap. The reason
for this is that the ego, to some extent, is the principle in our
psyches that separates us from one another, while spirit is the
principle that shows us that no such separation exists. Sometimes the
ego is depicted as an almost demonic figure that keeps us from
realizing our true nature. But at its most basic, the ego is simply a
tool that helps us organize the various aspects of our personality so
that we can function in the world. In this sense, the ego is simply a
way for us to understand and attend to ourselves at the same time as
we understand and attend to the world around us. The ego is a tool
that we use to navigate the world.

Perhaps the problem is that the ego sometimes gets out of control.
This happens when the higher self loses control of the psyche. The
psyche then falls under the leadership of the ego, an entity that was
never meant to lead. The ego is meant to be definitively in the
service of the higher self. When this relationship is functioning, the
ego is a useful intermediary representing the whole self but not
thinking that it is the whole self. Then, it is almost as if the ego
is the self playfully pretending to be the separate entity called "I."
Like an actor, the ego plays the roles that the world asks us to play
in order to be part of the program. In this way, the ego can be a tool
enabling us to be in the world but not of it.

As long as we are in touch with our higher selves, our egos are not a
threat. They are simply useful tools in the service of spirit. We keep
our egos in check when we continually nurture our awareness of who we
really are. Then our egos are free to serve without trying
ineffectually to rule. It is healthy to have ego, but like all things
in life, ego functions best when it is in balance and harmony with
your whole self.

Energy to Spare

Knowing Your Limits

Every human life is defined, to some extent, by limits. No one person
is capable of fulfilling every possibility. We are all born with
unique aptitudes and sensitivities, and it is these qualities that
largely determine the paths we will travel in life. What invigorates,
excites, and inspires one individual may exhaust or overwhelm another.
When we understand what we as individuals are capable of reasonably
handling, we gradually learn to accept that we have control over our
wellbeing. Yet determining where our limits lie can be difficult, as
it is likely we have been told time and again that the discomfort,
fatigue, and stress we felt while engaging in activities outside the
range of our comfort zones was all in our heads. If you have never
before given thought to the notion of personal limits, creating a list
of those tasks and situations that leave you feeling drained can give
you insight into your own.

You will know definitively that you are operating within your limits
when you have the necessary energy and drive to address your personal
and professional commitments. This is not to say you should not push
yourself or work to extend the range of your capabilities. The wisdom
you gain through dynamic self-examination will give you the tools you
need to create an individual life strategy that allows you to achieve
your goals without compromising yourself or your needs. The limits you
honor by focusing your energy on what you can do rather than what you
cannot do will not interfere with your ambitions unless you allow them
to interfere. You can thrive within your limits, actively shape your
circumstances, and avoid anguish by simply recognizing that certain
aspects of life nourish you while others drain you, and doing your
best to perceive the fine line between applying yourself diligently
and overworking yourself.

You may be surprised to discover that your limits change over time.
Your willingness to accept these limits as they reveal themselves to
you can smooth your passage through life and give you the means to
flourish.

Interview With a (Tantric) Vampire

I am soooo sorry it took so long for me to get this out.

First, I would like to say it has been a real pleasure speaking with
Lucien; he is the most agreeable and accommodating individual.

What has stuck out most to me about him is the fact that he appears to
be spiritually driven. All that he does and how he strives to live his
life is but for the quest for spiritual evolution taking only a path
emotional and spiritual perfection.

Read on to meet Lucien and enter into the sacred realm of the "Tantric Vampire":

Part of the reason I agreed to do this interview is because I want
other people to know that there is more than just Sanguinary and
Psychic vampires. Those outside the community are only exposed to the
norm and in my opinion, most of it is garbage. My approach is simple. I
am a realist. There's no fantasy involved in my reality. I am not
"undead", nor do I crave death. It's quite the opposite as I see
vampirism as a "pro-life" path. I mean, what is immortality without
some form of life? I promote life extension which simply means that we
do everything within our control to extend our lives. This includes
eating healthy, exercise, etc. Nothing spooky there ;)While I founded
Tantric Vampires, which started out as a niche specifically for
vampires to explore sacred sexuality, it has grown considerably, just
as I have. Many people mistake tantric vampirism as sexual vampirism.
There is a huge difference. Tantric vampirism is focused on the
exchange, sexual or otherwise, between partners. For instance, your
relationship with your husband is sacred. By the two of you working
together in order to create a balance of give and take that becomes a
constant flow between you, you enhance not only your sexual bond, but
also your spiritual bond. Not all tantric vampirism involves physical
touch. Being able to exchange lifeforce with your partner from a
distance or while sitting in front of each other and achieve
incredible sexual/spiritual experiences without touching is amazing!
Naturally physical touch is just as important and can be just as
intense, it is the ability to start as two individuals who merge their
energies into a single current (i.e. becoming ONE) that makes tantric
vampirism so much more than simply sexual vampirism.I consider myself
to be a Progressive Vampire, which is a term I coined. I am currently
working on a book project with Arden on progressive vampirism. In a
nutshell, the progressive vampire is the vampire of the future. We are
concerned with our mental and physical health and take precautions to
preserve our lives. We have a vested interest not only in life
extension, but also in investing in our planet. We are the realists.
We are political, and we are interested in those things that
contribute to our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual evolution.
We are atheistic by nature and are interested in the Sciences. This
doesn't mean we don't enjoy fantasy or Hollywood ideals of the
vampire. It simply means that we are in touch with what is real and
what is fantasy. Aside from being a vampire, I'm also a Lycan. Again,
as a realist, this to me is a person who feels a special connection
with the wolf deep within. It's almost as having a spirit guide,
however, much deeper. Arden & I are in the finishing stages of our
book, "Canis Lupus: Embracing the Wolf Within". While there are many
different definitions of vampire and/or lycan, we have created our own
paths based on our realism. Neither of us are blood drinkers. Neither
of us psychically attack or steal energy. I don't see vampirism in
that light. We are not the monsters some like to claim we are.

- You referenced the term "sacred sexuality - could you elaborate on
that?Sacred Sexuality to me is the art of connecting through both
physical and spiritual means.

The goal in Sacred Sexuality is to obtain the union sometimes referred
to as being "One" with your partner. Getting to this state of
spiritual & physical bliss takes a strong partnership built on trust
and love. The act of becoming "One" isn't one partner giving and the
other partner taking, but both partners equally giving and taking.
There is a current, if you will, that combines two in One through
energy and/or physical contact. It is a very sacred act of love.- From
what I'm understanding from you, please correct me if I'm wrong, a
tantric vampire is one who has a partner, not just a donor, and is in
a give and take relationship. Alone this vamp would have been a sexual
one but having developed this bond, this loving relationship with the
partner, it has grown into more than just the physical but the
emotional and spiritual bond as well. Is that correct?Tantric vampires
are definitely more partner oriented. I do not personally use the term
"donor" as I find that it can sometimes take on a more
dominant/submissive meaning. The term and it's many meanings is alien
to me. I don't need a "donor" as defined by many in the community
because I am equally giving/taking with my partner.A tantric vampire
does not have to have one partner although it is my belief that it is
best to work with one, or more, who constantly work with each other.
The tantric vampire differs in the fact that there is the desire to
mix the physical and spiritual to obtain the goal of being One. Any
vampire can be a sexual vampire. We are all sexual beings to one
degree or another. But sex is much different than sacred sex. The
tantric vampire seeks more balance, more emotion, more feeling, more
depth and a connection that lasts more than a weekend ;)Tantric
vampires create bonds that go beyond physical, emotional and
spiritual. Tantric vampirism is about much more than sacred sex. It's
about evolution of the Self in many ways. It is a practice that
involves delving deep within to explore and develop ourselves. Our
ultimate goal is reaching the state of godhood, which certainly
involved sacred sex. We're definitely not your average vampire ;)

- Typically the mainstream's understanding of the vamps feeding (as
I've tried to present it) is that it is a necessary means for the
individual to gain needed energies from an outside source that they
are unable to produce on their own. This give and take, becoming one,
merging of the energies between partners, is not, atleast to my
understanding, this way at all. It sounds more like the perfect union,
not taking, not feeding, but joining, intertwining, becoming one. Why
then would this union be considered vampiric feeding? Or is it not?

I want to break down this answer a bit. Please know, these are my
opinions only as I'm sure you could find others who would completely
disagree with me.I do not have a condition or deficiency that makes me
crave or need energy. I am a far stronger being than to be held
captive by the need of that which is everywhere! Everything...the
animate and inaniamte, contains energy. I do not need to take or steal
energy. It's readily available all around me all the time.Feeding to
me goes beyond what most see as a need. Feeding is indulgence. As I
stated, energy is everywhere and readily available, so feeding is like
eating that extra cookie, it's a treat. I think of it as an energy
drink (funny image). It enhances what you already have. You are
correct. It is the perfect union. There is no taking, as we give unto
each other willingly. There is no "feeding", as we fulfill each
other.- How do you feed, Lucien? My wife and I exchange energy. I don't
consider that feeding as much as I do an exchange. We both get
something from it. If I'm in the mood for more, I go to a sporting
event or concert where there are many people and energy is running
high.

- Can a vamp be tantric if they do not have a partner?

Sure, however, they aren't able to experience certain aspects of the
tantric experience until they experiment and share with a partner(s).
Any vampire can be a tantric vampire if they are on a path of Self
evolution through responsible means.

- Sexual vamp: if they have casual sex with someone and feed, is that
frowned upon?

Not at all. It happens all the time. I have no problems with what
others do in the bedroom ;)- And can a sexual vamp have sex without
feeding? Would they want to?It's not possible, in my opinion, to have
a sexual encounter without energy exchange. I can't imagine why they
would want to.

- I've read your posts, very nice. You insinuate, along with others,
that a sexual vamp lures their "prey" in seductively as a "predator"
would his victim stating they don't have a chance. Is this true and
could you explain?

Vampires in general are seductive. I see vampires in many ways. One
way is predatory. It is our nature to observe those who we see as
potential partners/lovers/comrads. We are no different than anyone
else who sees something they want and go to whatever means are
necessary to get it haha. There's always a chance. There's no hypnotic
spells, nothing Hollywood. I think that most "prey" fall into the
proverbial trap. They're just as entranced by us as we are by them.
It's also important to note that there are times that I see threats as
"prey". Not that I want to lure them into my fold, but that I would
want to protect myself and those close to me from them. As any good
predator, I watch my back and keep an eye on the threat, so to speak.
You can never be too careful.

- Much of the world is enthralled by the phenomeno of the vamp
mystique. In your opinion do you think it is because of the sexual
power?

Absolutely! Our society and that of organized religion has repressed
our natural desire to explore our deepest sexual desires. There are
those who may be afraid to step outside the box and find the lure of
the vampire very appealing. There's something about the desire to be
taken, yet feeling guilty about what pleasure that brings you. It's
much easier to allow yourself to be taken by a monster ;) (personal
note: doesn't sound monstrous to me)

- I have heard interviews of vamps stating that they do not have sex,
that they are on a higher plain. What is your experience with this
type of vamp?

I haven't had a conversation with other vamps about being abstinate.
I'm sure it happens. There are those who seek spiritual evolution over
physical pleasure. It is their perogative, so more power to them. I
prefer a healthy balance of the physical and spiritual.

- Do you feel that a vamp feels they are not, for lack of a better way
of saying it, human, (it's repeatedly said "the humans...")?

There are those who see themselves as non-human. I definitely see
myself as "more human than human", so to speak. I believe pointing out
someone's obvious human nature is a way for us to communicate the
difference from vampires non-vamps. There are many different ideas
about whether vampires are human or not. Obviously as a realist I can
say that I have a human body and therefore am human...but...I do see
myself as more advanced than most humans due to my spiritual
evolution.

- Tell me about the "Dayside" aspect, please.

Dayside describes your mundane life. Your job. Your bills. Your
family. It is the things you deal with in the non-vamp world.

- And the "Nightside"...

Nightside deals with our vampire nature and spiritual jouney. This is
where most vampires feel most comfortable because we are away from the
chaos of day to day life and in our own element.

- Do you find vamps marry vamps?

Now that you mention it, I don't know many vamps who've married vamps.
Many vampires don't embrace that aspect of themselves until they're a
little older and already established with a family.

- And if so are their children traditionally vamps? (In my experience
gifts are passed down through lineage ie. psychic, shaman, etc.)

I believe most vampires want to give their children the option to
explore and make choices toward their own spirituality and path.

- Can you astral project or dreamwalk? To feed?

Sure. Both astral projection and dreamwalking are common for most
vampires. The exchange of energy can occur anywhere and on any plane
of existance, as all things have energy, so yes.

- And if you do how has it been for your "donors", the experience?

I don't have donors. It may be best if I ask Arden her experience with
this one ;)

- Do you belong to a coven or clan?

No, not in the vampire community.

- How accepting are you of outsiders?

I tend to keep my dayside and nightside separate. I share my
experiences with few, and only those that I trust. I think the general
consensus among non-vamps is that vampires are role players or have
mental disorders. Naturally this stems from their lack of knowledge
about vampires/vampirism.

- Do you belong to a meetup group?

No

- I have yet to speak with a donor (and would love to, please contact
me) so, with your experience, how is it for them?

I don't deal with donors, but I know a few who refer to themselves as
donors and who actually donate blood/prana. I can give you their info.

- Can you do magick or do you have other gifts?

The mind is very powerful. We are all born with the ability to do much
more than we do. If you're referring to magick in terms of Harry
Potter, no. I have in the past done magickal work though.

Just curious: you mentioned that part of the reason that you're doing
this is because you feel that much of the info out there on sang and
psi vamps is crap; what's the other reason?

To share my ideas and my path for others who may read about it and
either be curious or feel a kinship with me. I'm always waiting
patiently for others of like-mind to show up. :)

I don't particularly care for the word "feed". I have used it many
times because it is generally a term well known within the community.
I do "feed", however, it's not simpy taking from another. Arden and I
exchange energy. In essence, it's sort of like feeding, but it's not,
in my opinion, the same way other vampires may feed. I do pull energy
from different sources, such as the energy produced by a thunderstorm,
or from a moving stream, and even from reading. You can manifest and
manipulate energy anytime. It's not traditional, but it is very nice.
I don't have a need to feed as some vampires claim.

Spiritualness is a huge part of my journey. Everything I do is for the
purpose of Self evolution. That is what makes me a vampire. I am not a
slave to a physical or psychological need. I am on a higher level of
consciousness and a more spiritual being. Again, "more human than
human". I have been studying Taoism for many years. In Taoism, the
ultimate goal is that of godhood. What that essentially means is that
we spiritually and physically strive for immortality and reaching the
state of becoming our own god. It's the evolution of your entire
being.

Donors is another word I'm not fond of lol. In essence, yes, I did. I
was a completely different man before I met Arden. Athough in my heart
and mind I knew what being a vampire meant to me, it wasn't until I
met her that it actually fell into place. Once we became One,
everything changed. I did have people who I took energy from. I have
never been a blood drinker. I did consider myself tantric, as I was
attempting to find that balance, but it wasn't until I met Arden that
everything fell into place.

With your definition of magick, yes, I do. I manipulate energy. :)

Thank you so much, Lucien. You can learn more about "Tantric
Vampirism" at www.tantricvampires.ning.com, a site Lucien started for
likeminded vampires on the same path.

I do hope that this is the beginning of our friendship...

And remember,

All is not as it seems, (sometimes it's better)

Live Well,
Nadine
