The stygian creature lumbered forward across its own noisome pool, drooling
still more of the viscous sludge from its slack jaws. It
was only moments from Christiane...
who reacted as any sane person would. She turned around, sprinted through the
ash and debris of the bar, and headed straight into
the kitchen. Once through the door, she looked for something to barricade it.
Most of the fixtures were bolted into the floor,
however.
Conveniently enough, there were other exits from the kitchen. One was the door
to the cellar, the domain of Fluffy the hug-monster.
Another led to storage rooms. A third led outside.
"Let's see what's behind door No. 3," she said, and lunged for it. Christiane's
plan was to get out of the House, circle around, and
head to the Arboretum and see if the Lady had any magical artifacts to help
clean up the mess. Since Zophiel was only smiling in
amusement at the creature, she figured that it was going to have a very short
future. Probably one that that involved explosions and
rains of sticky bits all over the place.
She had no idea what the Ravenlord was up to, and cared not to find out. He
would probably figure into the explosions, though.
