Subject: Regarding UK virtual number

Hi All,

I intend to get a UK virtual number which redirects calls to my Indian number.
But I am not sure which type of number to get and from where to get it.

I have seen the past mail threads which discusses about uknumber.co.uk providing
numbers, but I found that some people are reluctant to call numbers provided by
this website as they are used in some fraud cases.

After doing search I found 'Pickaweb' website which gives reliable UK 020 London
numbers which start with 020-7060.
The website is:
http://www.pickaweb.co.uk/020-london-numbers.htm
It charges a substantial amount to me, but I feel that if its reliable I can go
with it.

Has somebody used the services provided by this website? Or does somebody know
from where I can get trusted UK numbers? (Its ok to pay the charges if they give
good services and are trustable).

Thanks,
Manoj.

I have taken Skype no and it is working fine. I got the idea from this forum only. Please go to skype.com , rest is easy . But you have to hire a land line no whih is chargeable also you have to purchase skype credit to get redirect facility to your Indian cell no.

HI Chandan,
The things has not been changed so far. I think if your current job is paying you well and you can the future oppty in the current role in india itself rather than coming to uk and starting from the scratch. We are contributing to UK economy by paying high taxes and not getting our return on investment. I left my job which one of mistake i did and still struggling to find the similar role in the UK.
Please think about the family, future career growth and happy life in india.

My sincere advice- Please in no case leave your job and come to UK.

It is not must to work for full twelve months to meet the salary criteria for extension.  You can meet the salary criteria for any 12 consecutive months in a period of last 15 months at the time of your application.  They are fine with it.

If you can meet salary criteria in 4 months out of 12 months, it is fine with them.

Also the whole thing boils down to the motive:
- Analyse the reason for you to come to UK.  If you think that reason is strong enough that you need to leave job and take a risk then go for it.
-If money is the reason, India is paying much better in relative terms.

Cheers
Chan

As mentioned by others it is a very difficult market.

But Grass is always Greener on the other side. Hence, take a call depending on ur situation. Evaluate all the pros and cons of ur decision whtever it is.

Leaving the job is a bad idea but again as i said it is ur call.

To get extension u will get earnings points for the past one year in UK and also if u work only then can u get 5 points for UK experience.

I have a work permit. Details given bellow:

TIER 1 (GENERAL) MIGRANT valid from 10/12/08 valid until 10/12/11

I did not try to go to UK even after one and half year as the job market scenario was not good due to recession.  I heard that for extension of work permit I need to work in UK for at least one year. Is it right?

I am doing a good job in India . I have a plan to go there on October. I heard that time is not good for getting new job. I can not take a leave for one month and then try for job. I have only one option that I should leave the job and go to UK  and apply seperately.  Will that be very risky?

Can I get a job in any Indian Co who can send me UK?  Do you have any list of that type of consultants?

@Sohel
I have seen many ans given by you. Will be happy to get answer from you.

Hi Rajat,

Thanks for the quick response and for clarifying how to use Skype for call
forwarding.
Yes, I agree with your point using the feature of 'Online Number' + 'Call
forwarding' I can get a number for which calls would be forwarded to my mobile.

Thanks,
Manoj.

Hi All,

My passport will be expiring in December 2010. I want to get my passport renewed in Indian High Commission - London. Has anyone from the group been to the embassy before and can share their experience as to how much time it takes for the renewals and how coperative the staff is and what documents are required?

Also, what happens of the visa on the old passport ?

Hi Imtiyaz ,

The passport renewal system is quite simple here at london high commision. it takes usually 1 week to get the new passport from the date you apply. You need to take 2 photographs & your passport along with you & filled application form.

keep in mind that there is a huge rush of people there , so anytime you go , your waiting time would be around 2-4 hrs ...depending upon your case. Also make sure if you want to get any details in the passport changed like address or spouse name , then this is a good opurtunity....take documents as a proof alongwith for the fields you want a change.

hope this helps !!

Hi Sudip,

Can you throw some more light on the process. Like where to download the forms and also where to go for submission?

Even I have the same doubt. If you can forward a relevant link that will help me and others in this group too.

Thanks!

Hi Imtiyaz,

You can also send the completed application form along with 2 photographs thru
post also. You actually save the whole day by sending the application by post.
You need send the old passport, application form, 2 photographs, and
self-addressed envelop. Any supporting documents if you want any information to
be changed.

I too received the renewed passport + the old passport (as it contained the
valid visa) within a week.

I did go for my passport renewal in UK. Steps were as follows

(1) Fill up the form with details. Forms can be downloaded from www.hcilondon.net.

(2) 2 Photographs is required

(3) Photocopy of anything which has changed, like address or status.. (in my case I got married since the last passport so had to produce Marriage certificate ) take the orginal and photocopy.

(4) Make sure the form is filled completely.

(5) Bring exact change ie 27 GBP for Passport of 36 pages  and 32 GBP for Jumbo size passport. Whatever you want ?

(6) Make sure you have enough photocopies, at times just for a photocopy your form may not be taken and then you have to queue up again.

(7) Takes roughly 4-6 hrs to submit and can collect the new passport after 3-5 days..

(8) Be prepared to see mini India as nothing is organised and you dont have any reception except 2 guards.

(9) Go early so that you can get the token,  there would be seperate conters for various activites..counter no 2 is where the lady will take the forms. She is quite rude, but efficient. She would behave as if she owns the high commission. So dont mess with her and just think that you have to go once to High Commission.

This is based on my experience early this year, let me know if the Lady at counter no 2 is still there.. a Telgu lady with full of attitude.
Good Luck

?Thanks & Regards

Regards,

Imtiyaz Jatu

Hi Imtiyaz,

I have done the renewal in Jan 2010.
I got the passport on third day (applied on wednesday morning and new passport issued on friday evening).
As Sudip said, it is a good chance to make any corrections.
Remember to collect same number of tokens if you are submitting more than one application.

Cheers,
Anoop.

Hi all,

Taking the answer from Chandan I have a question.

What amount of GBP is required to  meet the salary criteria for extension  if I work in UK?

I assume a situation that  I finally leave the job in India and land in UK and remain unemployed for a couple of months.  In that case I may have to earn the same amount  in a less time to quwalify the salary criteria.

Cheers

As mentioned by others it is a very difficult market.

But Grass is always Greener on the other side. Hence, take a call depending on ur situation. Evaluate all the pros and cons of ur decision whtever it is.

Leaving the job is a bad idea but again as i said it is ur call.

To get extension u will get earnings points for the past one year in UK and also if u work only then can u get 5 points for UK experience.

I have done a renewal for myself earlier and going there for my son personally. The submission can be very quick if you go very early and queue up for the token, say reach before 6.45 am. I would recommend going personally as by post there has been a case where someone else's PP was sent to a friend of mine. So chances are that PP can get lost, go there unless absolutely no other option. Pls take a photo copy of your old passport along without fail, all pages except blank one's

Hi Rajat,

How much money you need will depend on how many points you need after getting the points for Age, UK Experience and Qualifications. You will have to claim the same no. of points that you scored when getting the tier 1 visa.

You should check the UKBA website for more information.

However, you will need to obtain those points in continuous 12 months of last 15 months before which you apply. Hence, technically even if you are employed for more than a yr you can still get the extension.

Hope this helps.

If not feel free to email me directly and I can suggest.

Thanks!

Sohel

Does it mean - If you earn good(in UK) just in the 4months to secure good point then you are on the safe side.
No need to stay in UK for 12months to get salary points. If you earn well in just 4months then you can file extension.

Ajit please dont mix two different points. If you see the UKBA website for extensions it says that you need to be in UK for atleast 12 months in the validity period of your Tier1. So if you are in UK for less than 12 months you cant apply for an extension.
Now the second point is Earnings for the extension. Well if you can make enough points in 4 months no need to worry about the rest 8 months.
For instance person A stayed in UK for 8 months in 2009 say January to August and then goes back and returns in April 2010 and earns enough to score on earnings from April 2010 to July 2010 he can apply for an extension in August 2010 as he has stayed in UK for 12 months during the validity of his VISA. But as his current stay is less than 6 months he cannot claim for UK experience and his last stay in 2009 cannot be added to his time for ILR.

Experts please correct me if I am wrong.

@Sohel
I have seen many ans given by you. Will be happy to get answer from you.

Hello Sohel and othe group members

Courtesy to information provided by group members I had got my T1 visa in May 2010. Now i want to bring my family members to UK. Just wanted to ask Maintainence requirements from group members.

I know i have to keep 2800 + (3)x1600 = 7,600pounds for myself and my 3 dependents. The question is it must to show maintenance savings in a single account only. In my case, to meet maintenance requirments i intend to show 2 bank accounts, one is mine and the other is of my spouse. Kindly help in clarifying and also if some one can refer UKBA website link where I can find answer to this query.

Secondly please tell how does the exchange rate work for meeting  maintenenace funds requirments. What if some one is keeping maintenance funds at the border line and because of exchange rate fluctations the maintenance funds are lower for few days in a total of 3 months time.

Lastly for meetining maintenance requirments, is it necessary that all  of them have to be savings. What if there is a liability account in which bank gives you a credit line / running finance.

Appreciate valuable suggestions from group members.

Thanks
Hassan

Hi Everybody,

I am in UK on tier 1 visa and I came to UK on 22nd June. I have got a job and I am planning to apply for my dependents visa in this month itself (Wife + kid). the following are the documents that we are planning to submit.

Please let me know if this is sufficient

1. Visa application Form (VAF 10) + wifes and kids Original passport + photographs + my sponsor letter + a cover letter from my wife

2. My Passport copy & Visa copy + My original HSMP approval letter + marriage  certificate / photo / invitation.

3. Funds in INDIAN BANK ACCOUNT FOR 5000 POUNDS ( 6 months bank statement + Letter from the bank about the minimum amount for the past 3 months)

Will this be sufficient for funds ? considering I have stayed less than 3 months in UK (OR) should i also show any UK bank statements ???.

4. My UK companies offer letter and one month payslip.

I joined the company on 12th July and so I can get only one month payslip at this point of time. Will this be OK ???

5. Tenancy aggrement with my wifes name included in it + A letter from the landlord addressing to UK Home office about the permission for my wife and kid to stay.

Will this be sufficient WITHOUT a council letter or utility bill as I can only get all these after a month. ???

Please let me know if I am missing any document here also let me know your suggestions.

Awaiting your reply.

Many Thanks,

Arul.

Just one more query. I want to change the address too, so do i need original documents for getting the address changed or it can be done on the basis of photocopies ?

What all documents can be shown can be considered as proof of address.

As Sudip said, it is a good chance to make any corrections.
Remember to collect same number of tokens if you are submitting more than one application.

Dear All,

I have been following this discussion thread, and am really impressed with the valuable advise provided. I had a similar question, got my tier 1 in dec 18, 2008 valid till dec 18, 2011, haven't been able to utilize it. though went in may 2010 this year, the market was not good to get a better paying job, considering that I was able to save more in India. The question that I have, if in case I'm not able to use this visa, will my application be considered for a refiling a new visa, once this visa expires. As the market conditon is still not good, I'm. not sure whether I will be able to make it in the coming months.

kindly advise.

regards,

Purushottam

Does it mean - If you earn good(in UK) just in the 4months to secure good point then you are on the safe side.
No need to stay in UK for 12months to get salary points. If you earn well in just 4months then you can file extension.

Thanks to all in advance!

No it means you have to earn the money required to achieve the points in the UK.

Hi,

You don't need to put 2800 + 3 x (1600) but,

800 + 3 x (1600) GBP in UK or equivalent amount converted in INR

800 is because you have already T1, and you are applying for your family..

guys please confirm this...

What maintenance dependants must have

To qualify for leave to remain (permission to stay) as a dependant of a highly skilled worker, your dependant must show that he/she has enough personal funds to support himself/herself for the entire period of stay here.

You and your dependants should have already assessed the potential living costs, based on past living expenses, to ensure that you have enough funds to support yourselves.
You will not be successful in your application if you or your dependants are unable to meet the maintenance requirements.

If the main applicant under the highly skilled worker category is outside the United Kingdom or has been in the United Kingdom for less than 12 months, the family member must show that the main applicant or the dependant has at least £1,600 to support the dependant as well as the funds needed to support the main applicant.

If the main applicant has been present in the United Kingdom for 12 months or more, the main applicant or the family member of the highly skilled worker must have £533 to support himself/herself.

If you are applying from within the United Kingdom, the balance must show that you have had at least £800 in your account at all times over the three-month period.
Hence, I would be tempted to go f0r £800 for self and £1600*3 for dependents. Hence a total of £5600

Hope this helps.

Thanks!

What I think is if you in UK on Tier 1 and if you have a Job and if you are appying for dependent visa its enough to show funds just for your dependents, in the below case it would be 3 X 1600.

You need not show the 2800 Pounds.
