This list is a place for Nebraska unschoolers to get together and discuss unschooling ideas. Unschooling is about not creating a miniature school inside your home. You are free to learn and live as a family. As a family, you are free to choose how that looks in your individual home. You are *Mom*, not the *teacher*. Dad is not the *principal*, he is the dad. Unschooling is living life, not dividing *life* up into compartments such as math, science, social studies, etc.

Unschooling is *not* a hands-off type of parenting or living. If you are coming to this from conventional parenting it can be a leap of faith. Faith that your child *will* learn without being forced, and at his own individual pace. Unschooling can question some traditional thoughts that usually don't get questioned in other circles. Such as learning without a curriculum, treating children with kindness, respect and dignity, modeling our interactions with them the way we'd like them to interact with others.
