Hello friends and acquaintances!

I trust everyone had a fine Thanksgiving, and is doing well.

This is obviously a copy of what I sent to individual addresses, for
those who never signed up for the yahoo group.

It has come to my attention that the cancellation of Thursday Dec.
2nd was a disappointment to some who were planning to attend.

It turned out that I was not well that evening, as well as preparing
to leave town for a trip I couldn't cancel even though I was sick,
and I informed Phil that I simply couldn't do it.

Knowing that the last several activities have been attended only by
myself, Phil, Charles, and Kathy 1, Phil made the call to just
cancel, rather than have three people. We had no way of knowing
that suddenly we were going to have a wonderful attendance.

To this end, I apologize profusely to all who were disappointed. If
I had known that several people were committed to coming, I'd have
gone even though sick, if that had made the difference. This is a
wonderful example of why we need more people who are willing to host
and lead and make events happen. In the beginning I mentioned that
I am not the leader of the group, but merely the instigator, and I
hoped we would all take turns in offering activities and hosting
them.

Please, don't give up on WICS. It is a brand new group, and it is in
the birth pains stage of being born. We can all see that it needs
leadership, commitment, and organization.

So rather than giving up, being disappointed, or comlaining, lets
all look at what needs to happen, and as Captain Picard says, "make
it so". (Sorry, if you're not a Trekkie.)

The original plan of First Thursday and Third Friday of each month
is a good plan!

But December, I was sick and leaving town on the first Thursday, and
I am out of town on the third Friday.

So, in order for the second meeting to happen, someone ELSE is going
to have to be completely in charge, and make it happen.

I don't know if we should have another big planning meeting, and put
down dates with specific names of who is going to host that night,
even up to filling up the whole first quarter of 2005 that way.
Maybe a good idea? Each person volunteer to run a night activity?

We need some brainstorming, and then we need to try some of the
ideas until we find what works for this group.

I know that my schedule is nothing like someone else's... but I also
know that many many singles groups work great! This is encouraging,
and we will find a way to make WICS great, and to grow! I think one
of the first things to do is also put the flyer Phil made for Christ
the King, out to ALL the churches in Oak Harbor, for starters. And
then, obviously, have some regular meetings that actually happen,
for the people to come to.

So, team, what do we want to do? How do we want to do it?

Your partner in fellowship,

Michele Sladko
