Description

WARN (White Anti-Racist Network)

MISSION
the mission of this list serve is to build a revolutionary white anti-racist community where we can support each other in our work, work thru our own sh*t (and stop subjecting people of color to it), brainstorm strategies for action, network with others locally and nationally who are doing similar work and in general work to become more effective allies. though this list serve is geared primarily towards white folks working thru our own issues, it is open and welcoming of all

GOALS
a few goals of this community are:
1) to discuss a variety of obstacles, strategies and ideas we've experienced in our work with the purpose of helping each other develop our vision, priorities and projects
2) to form some solid ideas about how to build a fresh multi-racial anti-racism movement with organizers walking away with a better sense of community, hope and revolution as well as new resources and ideas about how we are doing this work

AGREEMENTS
i hope that within this list serve we can cultivate a culture of listening and reflection. in order to have a positive and empowering community that actually deals with what we need to deal with (as opposed to tip-toeing around issues) i hope everyone can follow these agreements for the space:

1) no forms of elitism or "normalcy" are to be tolerated under any circumstances. though the space is primarily focused on challenging racism, for an anti-racism movement to be successful we must also challenge classism, ableism, gender elitism, homophobia, ageism etc.
2) this is a space where emotions are valued- anger, vulnerability, laughter, support, passion, courage, rage.
3) we understand that no one is left untouched by racism and all must challenge it within themselves and others. each person is ultimately responsible for their actions.
