Deborah, here's a couple of things you can look at. NADA (National Alliance for
the Development of Archery) has created the After School Archery Program, or
ASAP. You can contact their office at info@teacharchery. org and ask them about
this program. Alabama's DNR is a leader in building community archery parks.
I'm sure they offer programs like ASAP to their communities. Send an email to
Stuart Goldsby, Stuart.Goldsby@ dcnr.alabama. gov and I'm certain he'll tell you
where to find these parks in your state. Good luck - Steve

I homeschool my children so participating in the Archery in the Schools program

Hello all,

I'll be honest from the start & let you know that I'll probably be a member for
a short time. I joined to do some very specific research.
I haven't picked up a bow in over twenty years, due to torn rotator cuffs in
both shoulders, & truthfully have never been all that serious about the sport.

Here's the thing. My Dad was a dealer for Wing Bows in the early 1960's. He
passed away in February, & I just got through sorting through his stuff. I'm
NOT looking to sell anything, but I know virtually nothing about what I now
have, so I'm trying to learn.

If anyone knows about the brand, or any web sites, books, magazines, &c please
let me know. I've found Bob Lee's website, but they specifically say that they
don't want to discuss any of the earlier products.

BTW, I tend to run up to a week behind in reading my e-mails, so please have
patience with me.

Thanks for the time, & of course any info you give me.

>I'm looking for your thoughts, as I'm looking to buy a new bow. And with
so many bows out there it's hard to decide. I think I narrowed it down to 2
brands. Top of the line of Mathews or Hoyt. I would like to hear from
anyone who has one of these bows, or others. And hear what they have to say,
about your likes and dislikes, and repairs if needed. Thanks<

I have been shooting a Mathews Reezen 7.0 since Jan for field archery &
3D. Draw length is 29" and draw weight is 60# with an 80% let off. I am
using it with a Sureloc sight, Viper scope, Ripcord dropaway rest and
Superstix Ultralite stabilizer. The bow is low in weight, quiet, loads up
quickly
and is smooth drawing until you reach the let off point, when it suddenly
drops into the valley. The parallel limbs result in virtually no forward
recoil following the shot. I particularly like the wooden grip as it is an
excellent fit to my hand.

Have had no mechanical or adjustment issues beyond the initial peep setup.
My only complaint is the need to change the top and bottom string damper
bushings more frequently than I would like. I shoot regularly once or
twice a week for a few hours. I am on my 3rd set of string damper bushings.
This is my first Mathews that uses string dampers, so I don't have prior
experience to judge whether this is normal wear for my frequency of shooting.
The cam end string damper bushing wears much more quickly than the one by
the idler wheel. On other Mathews models with string dampers, the wear
pattern is the reverse. I have been swapping idler bushings for cam
bushings with users of other Mathews models to extend the life of a set of
string
dampers.

Would I buy another Mathews bow again? The answer is yes!

I think months. I¹ve seen good bows in archery shops strung up for a long
time until sold. But I keep mine unstrung and teach my students to do so.
Most take down archers I know disassemble their bows after every session.

Greeting all,
I am knew to the group and live in adams tennessee. I am a service member
stationed at ft campbell KY. I have a great plot of land across the street from
me that i plan on hunting on this fall. It was a wheat field that was harvested
very late about 4 to 6 weeks ago. There is about a 50 meters of woods, then 50
meters of open tall grass then another 50 meters of woods then a corn field the
evidence of deer is very obvious. I would not call them deer paths more like
deer super highways. I have some flavored 2lbs licks out, and am going to work
on something else to keep their attention. there is one small problem. I have
a shotgun and a muzzle loader. the only two things i was able to keep from my
exwife during a divorce, so if there is any one out there that has a compound
bow for sale let me know.

My recurve hates vanes it only shoots tight groups with feathers, which is not
uncommon, the same with my longbow. Feathers tend to be more forgiving as they
move a bit out of the way, down side, they are noisier than vanes when hunting.
The reason they are noisier is the wind breaking around the quills. I build my
own arrows as I have more control over the quality and I can pick up 2 dozen
shafts, nocks, points and cut my own feathers for less than a dozen from 3
Rivers. I crest my own with my own crest so a dozen would be around 100 US with
shipping, the parts about 75 US. I shoot only Cedar and Spruce shafts though,
and I have a nice lot of grey goose shafts, thanks to my goose George, as well
as more normal arrows.

don't make 80lb limbs any more not even after market limbs and 80 lb limbs tend
to break in cold weather trust me I had a Hoyt about 12 yrs ago and it was to
hard to pull back even with a 80% let off

Hey there i personaly use White Tail Hunter Arrows from Gander mountin i am
very impressed with the derability of them. i have a 70 + pound draw weight on
my Matthews an they hold up real well. i blew one threw my target i got an it
penatrated a 1/2 inch sheet of plywood an i still shoot the same one. by the way
i want to pass it around i make custom bow racks to hang your bow from. all wood
an they are nice i generally use red ceder but i will make them from what the
customer wants.
