My Drum Still Beats
One year ago today
You were taken away
The Creator took you home
He knew you had to go
~
You endured each day
With such terrible pain
It was time to set you free
My Love for you goes deep
I still Grieve..I still Weep
~
You tried so hard to hold on
Like the wind drifting along
Your Dreams were there
Then they were gone
I still Cry and Mourn
My Drum Still Beats On

Living For Ourselves
Trying To Please Others
Most of us come to a point in our lives when we question why we are
doing what we are doing, and many of us come to realize that we may be
living our lives in an effort to make our parents happy. This
realization can dawn when we are in our 20s, our 40s, or even later,
depending upon how tight a hold our family of origin has on our psyche.
~
We may feel shocked or depressed by this information, but we can trust
that it is coming to us at this time because we are ready to find out
what it would mean to live our lives for ourselves, following the call
of our own soul, and refusing any longer to be beholden to someone
else's expectations.
One of the most common reasons we are so tied into making our parents,
or others, happy, is that we were not properly mirrored when we were
children.
~
We were not honored as individuals in our own right, with a will and
purpose of our own, to be determined by our own unfolding. As a result,
we learned to look outside of ourselves for approval, support, and
direction rather than look within. The good news is that the part of us
that was not adequately nurtured is still there, inside us, like a seed
that has not yet received the sunlight and moisture it needs to open and
to allow its inner contents to unfurl. It is never too late to provide
ourselves with what we need to awaken this inner being.
~
There are many ways to create a safe container for ourselves so that we
can turn within and shine the light of awareness there. We may join a
support group, go to therapy, or start a practice of journaling every
day for half an hour. This experience of becoming is well worth the
difficult work that may be required of us to get there. In whatever
process we choose, we may feel worse before we feel better, but we will
ultimately find out how to live our lives for ourselves and how to make
ourselves happy.

i'm going with this theory from now on . . . .lol...love and blessings!  Wren ^v^

The Buffalo Theory - In one episode of 'Cheers', Cliff
is seated at the bar describing the Buffalo Theory to
his buddy, Norm. I don't think I've ever heard the
concept explained any better than this.

'Well you see, Norm, it's like this . . . A herd of
buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo.
And when the herd is hunted, it is the lowest and
weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This
natural selection is good for the herd as a whole,
because the general speed and health of the whole
group keeps improving by the regular killing of the
weakest members.

In much the same way, the human brain can only operate
as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know,
excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But
naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain
cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer
eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a
faster and more efficient machine. And that, Norm, is
why you always feel smarter after a few beers.'

Call to Action: We need you to make your voice heard today -- literally. The
Cherokee Nation Washington Office needs you: to make phone calls to your elected
officials to: 1.) stop Congress from terminating the Cherokee Nation and 2.) not
to punish the Nation with amendments that would cut funding to vital services
such as health care.

Since June, more than 10,700 people have met online to send letters to Congress
using http://www.cherokeevoice.com. Now we need Congress to hear our voice on
the other end of the phone line. If you need any assistance with locating phone
numbers for elected officials in Oklahoma (or throughout the United States) or
to talk about the congressional threats facing the Cherokee Nation, please call
1.877.211.4909 or e-mail cnwo@.... For more information regarding the
citizenship status of non-Indians, please visit http://freedmen.cherokee.org.

That should wrap it up for this week. For those of you that observe Daylight
Savings Time, don't forget to set your clocks ahead 1 hour on Saturday night.
Have a great weekend and visit http://www.cherokee.org for the latest news and
events.

Grand Ceremony of the 8,000 Sacred Drums
EIGHT THOUSAND SACRED DRUMS
FOR THE HEALING OF THE MOTHER EARTH
AND ENSURE LIFE AND PEACE WORLDWIDE

Grand Ceremony of the 8,000 Sacred Drums on March 21st, 2008 (10 am
to noon local time from Mexico City) will take place in the Otomi
Olmec Toltec Teotihuacan Nation and in many locations around the
world to aid in the healing of Mother Earth and our Peoples.

CALL TO: The Indigenous First Nations, Peoples, Communities and
Organizations of the World and all Humankind According to a Prophecy
Revealed at the Otomí Ceremonial Center by the Otomí Elder Sages to
the Indigenous Peoples and all Humankind and a Vision of our
Venerable Ancestors, the day when the Sounds of Eight Thousand
Sacred Drums join together will be the beginning of a true Healing
of Mother Earth, of All the Species and of the Human Family, which
is now in total disequilibrium in order to be able to live together
on the road to Sacred Peace, in harmonious union with the Universe,
Mother Nature, the Community, the Family and our own Hearts.

It is time to re-unify ourselves and rediscover for ourselves all
the Seeds of the Four Directions in order to reactivate cosmic
energy, heal historical wounds and heal our Mother Earth by
respecting life and the liberty and dignity of our Peoples.

The Otomí Nation, through the Council of the Elders and the
Guardians of the Otomí Tradition, Grand House of Otomí Knowledge,
and the International Indigenous University invite:

(a) Indigenous Keepers of the Ancestral, Ceremonial and Medicinal
Sound of the Sacred Drums;
(b) Councils of Elders, Sages and Leaders of all Indigenous Nations,
Peoples and Organizations;
(c) Indigenous Guides, Guardians and Spiritual Leaders, and
(d) All Traditions of Humankind

to come together at the Grand Indigenous Ceremony of the EIGHT
THOUSAND SACRED DRUMS FOR THE HEALING THE MOTHER EARTH AND ENSURE
LIFE AND PEACE which will be held at the Otomí Ceremonial Center in
Temoaya, State of México, Otomí Nation, Mexico, and at Ceremonial
Centers and Sacred Indigenous Sites around the world at 12 noon
(Mexico City time) on March 21, 2004.

SACRED PRINCIPLES
- Sealing and healing the wounded vertices of Mother Earth is
urgent.
- Identifying and activating the Indigenous Energy Centers at
Sacred Places is our duty.
- Planting and strengthening consciousness of Love and Respect for
our Mother Earth is everyone's work.
- The indigenous ancestral recommendation to create and practice the
Grand Culture of Peace and Life is fundamental.
- Recognition of the use of the energy and healing properties of our
sacred instruments is a principle and goal of our Indigenous Mission.

All Indigenous Peoples, Native Nations, Communities and
Organizations that would like to participate in this Grand Ancestral
Cosmic Ceremony are asked to notify us as soon as possible to set up
contacts and facilitate communication and coordination. Contact

Learning To Trust Divine Guidance
Trial And Error
Anyone who has asked for divine guidance knows that it can be
challenging to trust it when it comes. This is because divine guidance
comes in many forms and it is sometimes hard to locate it. We aren't
sure if we are meant to trust our thoughts, our feelings, our dreams, or
our intuitions to be the carriers of divine wisdom. We are not sure if
advice from a friend is the form in which the guidance has come into the
world, or if our own opinion is the source of wisdom we need to take
seriously.
~
The ability to sort all this out comes with trial and error, and the
best way to learn to recognize divine guidance is to engage in the
process of asking and receiving.
Sometimes when we ask for guidance, we already have a sense of what we
want to hear. At such times, receiving guidance can be difficult,
because we don't want to hear anything that appears to be in opposition
to our desire. Therefore, one of the most important qualities we need to
cultivate if we are to receive guidance is an open mind. It helps to
acknowledge what we want, and then to symbolically set it aside, making
room for whatever wisdom comes through to us.
~
Cultivating an active relationship with the divine is the essential
ingredient to being able to receive and trust guidance when it comes our
way. We can make a daily practice of this by using a set of runes, a
deck of cards, or a pendulum. We can also use our journals, developing a
relationship with the divine through the written word. As we request and
receive guidance, we might take notes on our experiences. Over time we
will begin to recognize when we were able to hear correctly and when we
were not. In this way, we will gradually attune ourselves to our
particular relationship with the divine. Begin to trust the guidance you
are receiving and soon you will find it flowing with ease.
