Hello,
My name is Tobey. I am 16 years old and live in
Kansas.
I have two brothers Gallagher (14) and Coyote (12) and
a sister Josey (18)
We have been homeschooled/unschooled all our life's.
We grind our own wheat make our own breads noodles
etc.
We get almost all of our food from out huge garden (it
is 150' by 170')
We grow about everything you can think of. We also
have three apple trees (two green and one red) three
pears tree's, one peach tree and a apricot tree, three
huge black berry bushes, two due berry bushes and
three grape vines (two eating grapes and one juicing
grapes) out of the juicing grapes we make jelly and
juice. And two times a year we get 7 or more bushels
of peaches (for canning, jelly's, and syrup) from the
Amish.
Everything from the garden we can (everything that we
don't eat first)
My sister and I also x-stich (for gifts) and I want to
learn how to Knit. We have a wheat field next to our
house and I take some wheat (the stuff that is close
to the edge that they cannot get with the combine) and
I am trying to make hats, and baskets out of it. Right
now I am letting it dry and we are going to go down to
a pond and get some willow to rap the wheat in.
If anyone knows of any sites that has info and/or
patterns for wheat straw basket weaving please send
them to me.
This is getting to long.
hope everyone has a good day!
Tobey

Please help. I learned to weave baskets when I was 10 yrs. old, 47
years ago. Have not made a basket since. I want to teach my senior
citizens ceramics class how to make a basket with a ceramic bottom.
I think I remember the technique, fairly well at least. I know that
I need to drill holes in the ceramic base and place a length of the
basket material U shaped through 2 holes. Do I need an odd or even
number of holes in the base? Also, do I put the u shaped material
through the holes so that one or two upright pieces are through each
hole? Like I said, its been a long time. I assume that if I have
two uprights through the hole I treat them as one when weaving around
them. When the basket is the desired height, I take the upright
piece and put it down through the space that the next upright piece
is located. This finishes off the piece? Is there anything else I
need to do. How long before weaving do I need to let the material
soak? For a 6 inch round base with 4 inch high sides how much
material do I need? What is the best material to use for this and
where is the best internet source to buy it? Sure would appreciate
any help I could get on this. Thanks in advance. Nancy Enscoe,

Hi Everyone,
I am new to this club and I thoroughly enjoy Basket Weaving. I
started about a year ago (a friend taught me) and have made quite a
few baskets. I enjoy designing and making baskets myself. I have
made baskets to put under all my corningware (no heat pad needed at
dinner table now). I made a large basket to hold outdoor speakers I
bring in and out during the summer. I have made a basket to hold all
my outside plates and utensils (plates are 10" so I had to design a
larger opening for them) I am rambling but as you can tell I really
enjoy basket weaving. Who are some of the other members of this club?

Lori,
There really isn't much activity in this group, unfortunately. If you do use
the place you listed please let me know how their product is because I use the
Countryseat for my supplies. I basically weave baskets by eye (I enjoy figuring
out different patterns on my own and designing baskets for my use also) I know
there are a few good sites but one club or group I get a newsletter from is
Weavers words Here is how to subscribe To Subscribe Use:
weaverswords-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
The Countryseat www.countryseat.com also has an email newsletter that you might
find helpful. Let me know how it goes for you. Good luck!

beginner, intermediate, advanced. I don't know where you live Lori, but
there is also a place in Indiana that is called the Daisy Corporation in
Chesterton, IN that is really good prices. Have fun weaving!

I'm doing a lot of surfing and looking around for good sales and
stuff..I'll try to keep a weekly update for those that are still on
here....so why isn't there much activity....who is the moderator? I
would be glad to help get the word out about this club.....I find
alot of free patterns and stuff that I can let everyone know about....
I'm willing to do anything to help get this thing going...
I'm really having fun trying out different weaving techs. My husband
works in copper and is going to make me some bands to weave into my
baskets....has anyone ever wove with copper wire or wire period?
Gotta go surf,
Bratette1965 aka Lori
Lori,
Let me know any free pattern sites you know of, I try to search for them every
once in a while. I am so happy that there is some activity here finally. You
could probably find the moderators email address on the home page of this club.
Good luck.

Bark, if you make bases etc and "new member" wants a base, why don't you
sell her one? Am I missing something here?
New member, what is it that you are having difficulty with regarding making
a the base?

Howdy folks, My name is Stu and the thought of weaving is all new to me. I
am in the process of learning chair caneing and I thought basket weaving
would be something else I might be interested in. Am looking forward to
learning all I can and hopefully the day will come that I can contribute
something useful to the list.

I am a WAHM of 3 boys and my friend at Gymboree gave me the best tip
I have ever received. She told me about this company located at:
http://www.wrldofproducts.com and showed me her receipts of how she
is getting her groceries for pennies on the dollar. I immediately
joined the program and had the same amazing results. Week after week
I have been saving a minimum of 70% on all my groceries. Just
yesterday the cashier at my local Winn Dixie asked me how I do it, I
told her about the program and she said that at least 2 dozen other
people told her about it. Each week on top of the savings, I am able
to get several items completely free. I only had to pay $ 13.16 for
over $ 197.00 worth of groceries yesterday.
My sister just joined the program and the company told her that they
extended their bonus through Nov. 30. They told her to click the
button under the bonus package description to get the bonus.
