MISSION:
Becarios de Santo Tomas, the Sole Scholars Association of the University of Santo Tomas, a socio-civic organization, recognizes its role to instill academic competence, to enhance camaraderie, to promote social awareness and to mold Thomasian Scholars to be cognizant of their role in the university, in the country, and in the whole world, under the guidance of our Almighty God.

VISION:
Becarios de Santo Tomas, the Sole Scholars Association of the University of Santo Tomas, envisions itself to be a formative organization that produces scholars who are competitive and equipped with Thomasian virtues.

BRIEF HISTORY:
The year 1994 marked the beginning of UTAK (Ugnayang Tomasinong may Angking Kakayahan), a socio-civic organization for San Martin de Porres scholars. The organization was then called the UST Scholars Association (UST-SA) from 1997-1999 and UST ESCOLARES from 2000-2002. Finally in the year 2003, the organization changed its name to Becarios de Santo Tomas, the Sole Thomasian Scholars Association, which is its current name. This name, suggested by Rev. Fr. Pompeo de Mesa, means “wise man” or “ grant-holder” in Spanish.
