Hello Earl, hello Wallwatchers,
today I've got a nice message!
Brand new seems to be the desicion to celebrate the very last time the
legendary German-American Volksfest at the old Truman Plaza site.
The new owners of that former Army compound must have changed the minds of last
year when they told to the public it's over at that location forever!
It's the Volksfest #50 there and definitely the last one at this location or
maybe at all. Truman Plaza is sold, has got a new owner since last year, I
suppose he wants to make some money on that abandoned site again before his
planned huge constructions can start. (were planned for this year)
Volksfest comes: July 23 until August 15 ! So if somebody comes to Berlin, do
not miss it there! On my Berlin-Brigade-Memories website are many related
photos from 2008 & 2009.

Greetings to ALL !

A few weeks ago, a former boss of mine when I was in SETAF, Vicenza, Italy, came
by the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation where I work. Col.
Jim Stapleton was the Chief of Staff of SETAF, and in talking with him, I found
that he had been in 2-6 in the mid-70s, leaving just months before I got there.
I have posted here before (long ago), talking about the many Berlin vets I have
crossed paths with here at Fort Benning. This group and other websites like
BerlinBrigade.com have put me in touch with many others. I notice there haven't
been many posts lately, so I hope this will generate other stories of making
connections with friends and fellow vets who served in Berlin. Thanks for this
site and keep up the good work.

Well, this is not about finding old friends but a little bit of trivia, on the
old I dream of Jennie TV show have you ever noticed Dr Bellows has an Army of
Occupation medal on his uniform?

It may be a fine organization, but if they used the Berlin Brigade Wall Watchers

I'm already 'registered' but can't afford the "membership". Haven't found anyone
that I served with, it's like all internet websites, only as good as the info
put ionto it.

A Marine's Wife Confesses

This came from a

Marine's wife. It says it all:

I sat, as did millions of other Americans, and watched as the government
Under went a peaceful transition of power a year ago..
At first, I felt a swell of pride and patriotism while
Barack Obama took his Oath of office.

However, all that pride quickly vanished as I later watched 21 Marines,
In full dress uniform with rifles,
Fire a 21-gun salute to the President.
It was then that I realized how far America's military had deteriorated.
Every damn one of them missed the bastard.

Rednail,It may be ok to say and print the 'F' name in Germany and Austria, but it
isn't here. We've got a plethora of people here that read these posts, such as
ladies and children,Religious members and people that just don't care to hear
that word.
I have been known to use it before, but only in the presence of some of my
buddies,or a driver that cuts me off in traffic!
I'm not booting you, just letting you know why your post was deleted.

Earl,

Sorry about that. I guess I figured that if it was printed in Der
Spiegel online it would be OK. To me it was just a play on words.

If you do not subscribe, its free, you might want to check out the
link below. Some interesting stories and pictures come up sometimes.

Too bad. It is a legitimate town name but apparently in Austria. I'm not going
to say it but I'd love to try the beer!
