The Canadian Heathen was first established in 1998 as a meeting place for Germanic Heathens. Since 2002 it has been hosted by the Heathen Freehold Society of British Columbia.
The Germanic, Teutonic or Nordic tribes include the native speakers of Germanic languages including but not limited to Icelandic, Norwegian, Swedish, Dutch, German, English and others. Examples of such modern revivals of Teutonic religion are Heathenism, Odinism, Theodism, Forn Sed, Asatru, among others. The Freehold is an association, or confederation, of independent tribes, theods, kindreds and individuals.
